David Trezeguet is out

bad news!

Ranieri loses Trez in Florence

Saturday 30 August, 2008

David Trezeguet is out of Sunday’s showdown with Fiorentina, joining a growing injury list. “The tests never end,” sighs Claudio Ranieri.

Juventus already had to do without Cristiano Zanetti, Marco Marchionni, Giorgio Chiellini and the suspended Mohamed Sissoko.

Pavel Nedved has recovered from a knock to the ankle to feature on the week of his 36th birthday, but Trezeguet’s right knee problem has flared up again and he won’t even make the trip.

“I had rested him for the second leg of the Champions League preliminary round, but he said he still feels pain, so it’s best to let him recover fully and have him fully prepared in two weeks,” explained the Coach.

“We’re not lacking in alternatives and this is precisely why we signed Amauri over the summer. I’ve always said I have four first choice strikers.”

The Brazilian is a contender to start alongside Alessandro Del Piero in Florence, although Vincenzo Iaquinta has also shown good form.

“The difference between them is that Amauri helps the team to move up the field, whereas Iaquinta is better at attacking the space. Our style remains the same whoever I pick, so I never want to cage the creative talents in the final third.”

Juve are back in Europe and open their Serie A season against old rivals Fiorentina, who also returned to the continental stage this week.

“We are facing a team who went through the Champions League preliminary round and therefore has the same basic fitness levels as we do.

“The Scudetto race will have the same sides as last season, with the added bonus of a reinforced Milan,” continued Ranieri.

“I place Fiorentina among the contenders, who already proved last year they could handle Serie A and the UEFA Cup commitments.

“The Della Valle brothers have revived this club from Serie C2 to a top team. Their philosophy has always been about fair play and respect for opponents. I hope it will be an attractive and entertaining game, that the fans come to cheer on their teams and may the best side win.”

Originally the Juve fans were banned from travelling to Florence for this clash, as the intense rivalry has caused problems in the past, but the authorities decided to put some faith in the supporters for the new season.

The Bianconeri finished third last term after promotion from Serie B and their fans are demanding a return to the top of the table.

“Are we the anti-Inter squad? We’re working on it and building to be on a par with the best teams in Europe.”

They face a tough test to get past the first round of the Champions League, having drawn Real Madrid, European Super Cup winners Zenit and Bate Borisov.

“We already knew Zenit were strong even before seeing them beat Manchester United last night. They have the right quality and determination, playing a 4-3-3 which effectively allows them to defend with five men, as they all move forward and back in unison.”

Juventus squad: Buffon, Mellberg, Salihamidzic, Amauri, Iaquinta, Del Piero, Nedved, Chimenti, Manninger, Knezevic, Camoranesi, Poulsen, Marchisio, Giovinco, Grygera, Ekdal, Molinaro, De Ceglie, Tiago, Legrottaglie

Nedved fit for Fiorentina

Nedved fit for Fiorentina
Friday 29 August, 2008

Juventus breathe a sigh of relief as Pavel Nedved has recovered and will be able to face Fiorentina on Sunday night.

The Czech midfielder was stretchered off after a knock to the ankle during yesterday’s training session and there were real fears over his condition.

He is well on the road to recovery and is expected to start at the Stadio Artemio Franchi in the big game of this opening Serie A weekend.

Momo Sissoko also sustained an injury during that session and has still not returned to full training, instead undergoing fitness work in the gym.

He will have time to recover, though, as the former Liverpool midfielder is suspended for the Fiorentina match anyway.

The Bianconeri are also missing the injured Giorgio Chiellini, Marco Marchionni, Cristiano Zanetti, Jorge Andrade, Dario Knezevic and Jonathan Zebina.

It is likely new buys Christian Poulsen and Claudio Marchisio will form the central midfield partnership flanked by Mauro Camoranesi and Nedved.

The Juventus fans had originally been banned from attending the high-profile clash amid fears of crowd trouble, but the authorities have decided to ‘trust’ the supporters at the start of the new season, allowing them to travel in small numbers.

The same deal was also struck with Napoli tifosi who can go to the Olimpico to cheer on their side against Roma.

“A football match must always be a celebration for those who go to the stadium,” said Gianluigi Buffon.

“Last year it was a real shame having to play in Florence without the support of our fans. I am happy that this time they’ll be by our side.”

Ranieri: «A complicated group»

Ranieri: «A complicated group»

In his comments about the draw, Claudio Ranieri was tipped off directly by reactions in Madrid. They’re talking of a “complicated group” in Spain (from the point of view of Real Madrid) and Juventus' Manager thinks the term hits the spot.

These are the Manager's remarks, given live to Juventus Channel: «They’re calling it a complicated group in Madrid? I totally agree; it'll be hard for everyone. Facing Real Madrid at the Bernabeu is always very exciting, not only for those who play there for the first time, but those who've had the chance to do so, too. Zenit are mid-table in the League now and that's surprising if we think that last year they did great, winning both the League and the UEFA Cup. They have important players, some of whom starred in the recent European Championships, and lately they spent 30 million Euros to buy a young Portuguese player, who has been elected as the best player in the Russian Championship. We'll see them at work tomorrow night in the Super Cup, but in any case they're a team to be reckoned with. Just like Bate Borisov who, after winning the League title in Belarus last year, are about to repeat themselves this year, as they're in first place after 18 games».

Blanc: «Great opponents for our return to the Champions League»

Blanc: «Great opponents for our return to the Champions League»

In two years spent at Juventus, Jean-Claude Blanc has had a lot of footballing “baptisms”. While he waits to receive the Champions League one too (in the real one, not the qualifiers), the Managing Director started getting in the atmosphere of Europe by taking part in the Monte Carlo draw today.

A truly exciting moment which he described to Juventus Channel: «Being here after just two years is what we were imagining together with Chairman Cobolli, the Directors and everybody else at Juventus. We couldn't have gotten back any quicker in the Champions League, that's why they all deserve many congratulations for what they were able to achieve. The group? It won't be easy for us, but neither will it be for the others. The game against Real Madrid is a great classic, a true gift for all our fans but also the chance for our stars to show all their worth. Getting back into the Champions League with great opponents such as these is really nice».

Pablo Zabaleta

Zabaleta welcomes Juve talk
Tuesday 26 August, 2008

Espanyol's Argentine midfielder Pablo Zabaleta has admitted that he would love to join Juventus.

The 23-year-old was a child prodigy and has represented his nation at every level from Under-15 to the senior side.

Although Juve seem to have closed their market, there are suggestions that the Old Lady are still one new recruit short and they could be tempted to make one final purchase.

Zabaleta has been linked with a switch to Turin and has greeted the rumours with enthusiasm.

“I can't guarantee that I'll stay at Espanyol,” the ex-San Lorenzo man told Tuttosport.

“I have offers to weigh up with my agent. Juve are one of the interested parties and if they asked for me I would run there.

“I would love to play for the Bianconeri because of their winning mentality and the chance to grow and play for a great team.”

Claudio Ranieri

Ranieri: Onwards and upwards
Tuesday 26 August, 2008

Claudio Ranieri feels it was inevitable Juventus wouldn't replicate their 4-0 thrashing of Artmedia, as they look ahead to Fiorentina.

“We knew there wouldn't have been as many goals,” smiled the Coach after a 1-1 draw in Bratislava.

“Inevitably we tried to control it after that result and had no intention of losing. We tried to win and didn't manage, but it was a good performance.”

The result still sends the Bianconeri into the Champions League group phase for the first time in two years.

Ranieri rested several stars, including David Trezeguet and Alessandro Del Piero, but Amauri netted with a looping header.

“I liked the new central midfield partnership of Christian Poulsen and Claudio Marchisio, as it was the first time they had played together.”

Pavel Nedved made his comeback after missing the first leg through suspension, but was furious when substituted in the second half and violently kicked the bench.

“Nedved wasn't happy with the substitution, but I have to think ahead to Florence. It's only natural he always wants to play!”

Juve travel to Tuscany for this Sunday's Serie A opener against the Viola. They too could be celebrating a return to the Champions League, as they lead Slavia Prague 2-0 going into Wednesday's second leg.

great CR, dan utk komentar gw ttg Neddy...

Ranieri: «The Marchisio-Poulsen duo did well»

Ranieri: «The Marchisio-Poulsen duo did well»

He'd asked his lads to play thinking it was still 0-0. But Claudio Ranieri knew that the first leg's 4-0 win was ample guarantee in terms of qualifying and it was obvious tonight in Bratislava. After the two goals in the first half, Juventus and Artmedia settled for a draw that suited everyone.

These were the Juventus' Manager's comments after the game: «The first leg result made itself felt and that's one reason the game was played at a more sedate pace. After they scored, we showed that we didn't want to lose; we played our game and earned a draw. I'm pleased with Marchisio and Poulsen's performance in the middle of the pitch. We've qualified now, let's focus on Fiorentina».

great game by him!!!
Partai perdananya setelah "sekolah" di Empoli dilakukannya dgn baik, huehuehuehuehue...kolaborasinya bersama Poulsen mampu membuat Juventus mendominasi pertandingan 2nd leg penyisihan CL melawan Artmedia dini hari tadi...
sebuah harapan utk Juventus, jika Claudio mampu mempertahankan performanya gw yakin sebentar lagi dia bisa jd andalan Juve dan Italia!

Tiago

Juventus Show Tiago Fist Of Steel

Juventus are showing unhappy midfielder Tiago the fist of steel as he the Old Lady punishes him by leaving him out of the Champions League game against Artmedia on Tuesday.

The unwanted midfielder is refusing to leave the Bianconeri despite the club trying everything to kick him out of the Stadio Olimpico door.

Juve sporting director Alessio Secco was furious after the Portuguese rejected a move to Everton. The club have now reacted by banishing him from the Champions League.

Coach Claudio Ranieri is trying hard to get rid of the player and the week ahead is the club’s last chance to off load Tiago as the transfer window closes on Sunday.

La Gazzetta Dello Sport claims the player has two options left, a move to either Porto or Benfica. However, Tiago would need to take a significant pay cut if he was to move to Portugal.

Juve are running out of patience with their man, who seems happy just to warm up the bench and waste away his career.

The Bianconeri paid £13m for Tiago from Lyon last year but it was, perhaps, one of the worst transfers in history as the player has constantly made the headlines for all the negative reasons.

Juventus Plan Last Charge For Aquilani

Juventus Plan Last Charge For Aquilani

Juventus are still hopeful of signing Alberto Aquilani of Roma according to Calciomercato. The Bianconeri are planning one final assault for the Giallorosso.

The Bianconeri have been after the midfielder all summer but capturing him has proven illusive.

The Giallorossi have been having difficulty trying to fend off interest from other clubs and they may be forced to part company with Aquilani.

Roma have played hard ball over their man but the Old Lady hasn’t given up, knowing that a decent offer is likely to get the ball rolling.

Calciomercato claims Juve are ready to offer Aquilani a €3.2m per season deal which is double to what he is earning at the moment.

Luciano Spalletti’s problem is that he is unlikely to be able to match the Bianconeri’s tempting offer and his midfielder will not snub such a good deal.

Time is running out for the Olimpico-based side as they will need to renew their player’s contract before the transfer market closes this week or they may risk losing him on a free transfer next term.

It’s all or nothing now and Juve are standing by and ready to make their move as they try and pull off one last major signing before Serie A kicks off this weekend.

Claudio Ranieri has been strengthening well this summer and the Italian international would be a welcome addition to his side as they attempt to challenge for the Scudetto and Champions League.

Empoli take Juve starlet Pasquato

Empoli take Juve starlet Pasquato
Sunday 24 August, 2008

Juventus prodigy Christian Pasquato has joined Serie B side Empoli, following in the footsteps of Sebastian Giovinco.

The teenage star striker of the Primavera youth team is loaned out to the Stadio Castellani side with an option to buy up half his contract at the end of the season.

This month Pasquato hit the headlines when he scored in Juve's 4-1 Trofeo Berlusconi defeat to Milan at San Siro.

He also netted six of their eight goals in yesterday's traditional Juventus A vs B team, which is when Coach Claudio Ranieri confirmed the 19-year-old would be farmed out.

“Pasquato proved that he is a step above the others his age and would just be wasted by spending another year in the youth team.

“It is only right he goes out to gain experience, as he has what it takes to be a very important player.”

Pasquato follows in the path of Giovinco, who was also loaned to Empoli last season and is now back in Turin.

Molinaro: «We'll redeem ourselves at the Moretti»

Molinaro: «We'll redeem ourselves at the Moretti»

It's young player time: at the Birra Moretti Trophy, scheduled tomorrow in Naples, due to injuries and international commitments, Ranieri will be giving space to a lot of the youngsters who have been getting themselves noticed for their personality and skills lately. There'll still be plenty of more experienced players facing hosts Napoli and AC Milan, though, including Nedved, Amauri and Molinaro. And it's always a special and exciting occasion for the defender when he plays at the San Paolo, even in a friendly tournament such as this: «It's always a pleasure for a Campania native like me to play in Naples. Even if these are not official matches, facing prestigious teams in this context is an added motivating factor to do well. Besides, we really want to redeem ourselves after the defeat we suffered at the Berlusconi Trophy. A lot of my team mates will be missing, that's true, but we'll still try to win by being very determined»

Ranieri to give room to young players

Ranieri to give room to young players

«We don't want revenge, but we’re not worried we'll sink either. We'll go there to play eager to do well, like we always do. We must get practice and I'm happy to play tournaments such as this: they're useful in bringing the team up to match fitness».
Ranieri is preparing to face the second-from-last friendly commitment of the summer, the Birra Moretti Trophy, with several important players missing. But this is no reason for the games in Naples to be less than useful in terms of providing feedback: «I'll be employing those that have played less so far and I'll also be able to see Giovinco and De Ceglie play. Pasquato, Esposito and Rossi, all the young lads that are doing well, will have another chance to shine too. Playing and not just training with the First Team is excellent experience for them. At San Siro we saw how they livened things up and they were excellent ambassadors of Juventus' Youth Academy».

Juventus' Manager has always had an excellent relationship with younger players, and, despite what some people think, he has given plenty of them their debut: « You're telling me I don't give youngsters their debut? - A journalist's question took the Manager by surprise - Well, that's rich. What about Zola? I gave him his debut in the post-Maradona era. And John Terry? At Chelsea I put him on when he was twenty and I had the two central defenders who were European and World champions then. And that's not counting all the others! You can say anything you want about me, but not that I don't give young players their top flight debut».

And speaking of youngsters, there is great anticipation surrounding Giovinco: «He can play in the role he had under Casiraghi in the Olympic team or like he did under Cagni at Empoli. He can play in midfield in a 4-4-2 formation or play as an attacking midfielder, or as a wide striker... He's still developing as a player. He could be playing up front with Amauri tomorrow, or maybe Pasquato will play. We'll see.»

Squad List

21-man squad named for the San Paolo games

Ranieri has named a 21-man squad for the Moretti Trophy. The Manager will continue his policy to favour the younger players in Naples, with as many as eight Youth Team players in the squad. Castiglia, De Paola, Duravia and Pinsoglio will be present at the San Paolo alongside usual suspects Ariaudo, Esposito, Pasquato and Rossi, who have been with the First Team for the whole pre-season period. Players missing include Sissoko, Legrottaglie, Grygera, Manninger, and all the other internationals that will be coming back to base to resume training in Vinovo tomorrow afternoon; Trezeguet and Zebina will also be missing the trip to Naples, as they continue their therapies to recover from the annoying problems to their tendons (the kneecap and Achilles tendon respectively).

Here is the squad list in full:

11 Nedved
12 Chimenti

Birra Moretti Trophy, 21.08.2008

Everything you need to know about the Birra Moretti Trophy

After the TIM Trophy and the Luigi Berlusconi Trophy, Juventus are getting ready to compete in their third traditional summer engagement. On Thursday August 21st, at the San Paolo Stadium in Naples, the 12th edition of the Birra Moretti Trophy will take place.

After three years in a row with the same line-ups, one of the teams taking part has changed. AC Milan take the place of their city rivals Inter and will play the tournament alongside Juventus (who have played 10 out of 11 editions, only missing it in 1999) and hosts Napoli.

The Bianconeri have often done well in this event. They've won as many as five editions and have come in second place four times out of the 10 editions they've taken part in.

The calendar of the 2008 edition has already been released. Like last year, it'll be up to Juventus and Napoli to open the tournament, playing the first match at 8.30 pm. The second game will pit AC Milan against the losers of the first and then they’ll face the winners in the last game. The games will last 45 minutes and in case of a draw, penalties will be taken (traditional ones 11 metres from the goal line). The whole tournament will be shown live on Italian TV channel Canale 5.

To recap, here is the winners list of the first 11 editions

1997 Juventus
1998 Udinese
1999 Parma
2000 Juventus
2001 Inter Milan
2002 Inter Milan
2003 Juventus
2004 Juventus
2005 Napoli
2006 Juventus
2007 Inter Milan

Serunya Kunjungan Juventini Indonesia ke detikcom

Doni Wahyudi - detiksport

Cristian Ledesma

Ledesma open to Juve move
Sunday 17 August, 2008

Cristian Ledesma’s agent has refused to confirm or deny he is awaiting a transfer to Juventus.

“These are decisions that come down to President Claudio Lotito, so I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of negotiations,” said Vincenzo D’Ippolito.

“I have not been informed of anything, so we must await the end of the transfer window before having any clear picture of his future.”

Ledesma has already announced several times that he will walk away from Lazio at the end of the season using FIFA’s Article 17.

He is furious with Lotito for failing to renegotiate his contract and made no secret of his irritation at the way the President is running the club.

If the Argentine midfielder does invoke Article 17, it means he will only be able to join an overseas club for the cut-down price.

With this very tense situation and the possibility of losing him for a minor sum on the horizon, Lazio could be prepared to sell him to Juventus now.

It would not be the first time they have taken such action, as Valon Behrami was in a similar situation when he was released for West Ham United.

Juve, meanwhile, are seeking a more creative figure for their midfield in order to celebrate qualification for the Champions League.

Cristiano Zanetti and Marco Marchionni are both out for a month with muscular injuries.

Tiago Mendes

Everton Agree Tiago Deal

According to reports in Italy, Everton have come to an agreement with Juventus to sign Portuguese flop Tiago Mendes.

Tiago joined the Bianconeri from Lyon last year for €13m, however he has had a miserable 12 months in Italy.

It has been clear for quite some time now that Tiago would be leaving Juve this summer, providing a buyer could be found, and over the past week or so it has become a straight battle between Everton and Newcastle United for the player’s signature.

Juventus transfer director Alessio Secco admitted recently that two English clubs want to sign Tiago and, according to reports in Italy, Everton have come to an agreement with the Old Lady over a transfer fee.

The Toffees will pay €1m to take the 27-year-old on a one-year loan, and they will then have the option next summer to make the transfer permanent for €10m.

Everton will also contribute 100 per cent of Tiago’s wages, and according to the Daily Mail, the player is ready to accept a move to Goodison Park.

If the move goes through, it will be a return to the Premiership for Tiago, who spent the 2004/05 season at Chelsea, winning the championship and League Cup in the process.

Christian Terlizzi

Juventus Eye Catania Stopper

Juventus are ready to make a move for Catania defender Christian Terlizzi according to Tuttomercatoweb.

The Bianconeri lost Giorgio Chiellini to injury on Sunday night. The Italian international twisted his knee during his side’s 4-1 loss to Milan in the Berlusconi trophy.

Chiellini’s injury has forced Juve to reconsider their defensive options for the coming season and they are likely to return to market.
Tuttomercatoweb claims the Old Lady is making enquiries for the Rossoblu stopper who has been in stunning form for the Sicilian outfit.

The 28-year-old could arrive in Turin on loan with the option to sign for the Bianconeri on a permanent basis if the deal takes off.

Should Juve’s bid for Terlizzi fail, then attentions at Vinovo will turn to Lazio’s Guglielmo Stendardo and Fiorentina’s Dario Dainelli as the race for a defender gathers speed.

Stendardo may provide the easier route for Juve as he would be eligible for the Champions League.

Dainelli however, is not eligible to play for Juve in Europe as he has already represented Fiorentina in the preliminaries of the elite club competition.

Sofiane Feghouli

Inter & Juve After French Youngster

Inter and Juventus have entered the race to sign young Frenchman Sofiane Feghouli...

The 19-year-old midfielder has been catching the eye with some of his performances, and is of Algerian decent, like another great French midfielder Zinedine Zidane.

Feghouli plays for Grenoble Foot 38 in France's Ligue 1, but is linked with a host of top European clubs. He has attracted a lot of attention and was connected with a move to Ajax, Liverpool, Chelsea and Valencia during the 2007 summer transfer window.

However, now Juventus and Inter seemingly are looking at acquiring the young Frenchman as well, as they feel he has plenty of potential. But it is suspected they will have to fight off plenty of competition for his signature.

It is unknown if either team will table a bid for the youngster this year, as both Juve and Inter have insisted that they are done shopping in the transfer window. Juventus have been associated with Alberto Aquilani and Dejan Stankovic, but neither of their clubs seems willing to let them leave. Meanwhile, Inter currently have plenty of options in midfield with Patrick Vieira, Sulley Muntari, Javier Zanetti, Esteban Cambiasso, Olivier Dacourt, Vitor Hugo Pele, as well as Stankovic.

The player himself has stated he believes his type of playing is best suited to the English Premier League; however, he would likely a jump at any chance to join a top Serie A team.

Frederic Nimani

‘New Adebayor’ To Replace Old Trezeguet

Young Monaco striker Frederic Nimani is being tipped by the French press to replace David Trezeguet at Juventus next summer.

The 19-year-old Nimani is rated as one of France’s most exciting young prospects, and he hit the headlines during the opening day of the new French championship when he scored the winner in Monaco’s 1-0 victory over Paris Saint Germain.

The 6ft 3in hitman has been labelled by some as the ‘new Emmanuel Adebayor’, due to his similarity in style to the former Monaco, and current Arsenal, striker.

There was speculation in the Italian media last week that Juventus were considering making a move for Nimani, and this has now been supported by the French press, who claim that a Bianconeri representative was in the crowd to watch the Ligue 1 match between Monaco and Nantes at the weekend, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Juventus are said to be attempting to bring Nimani to the Stadio Olimpico in time for the start of the 2009/10 season, and he will be a direct replacement for the ageing David Trezeguet, who will turn 31 in a couple of months.

Trezeguet has had a prolific eight years in Turin since arriving from Monaco in 2000, but it is widely believed that this will be his last year at the club.

Giovinco begins again at Juve

Giovinco begins again at Juve
Tuesday 19 August, 2008

Juventus’ Olympic starlets Sebastian Giovinco and Paolo De Ceglie are back and hope to make up for their Beijing disappointment.

“Naturally we have to say first off that we are very disappointed at the way it ended,” said De Ceglie of Italy’s quarter-final exit to Belgium.

“We wanted to go all the way. Now I dive back into club football with great enthusiasm and hunger. I was able to follow Juve’s progress from China and saw the wonderful victory my teammates achieved over Artmedia.”

That 4-0 first leg result has all but put the Bianconeri in the Champions League, which will be a debut in that competition for both the Under-21 internationals.

“The Olympics didn’t go the way we all wanted and it is a real shame,” added Giovinco on Juventus Channel.

“I’ll try to make up for it in Turin. I know a long and very difficult season awaits me, but I start out really fired up to make space for myself in this squad of champions.”

The third Juve player at the Olympics, Claudio Marchisio, had already returned home early after sustaining an injury.

Juve duo stay positive

Juve duo stay positive
Monday 18 August, 2008

Claudio Ranieri and Alessandro Del Piero have put a brave face on Juventus’ disastrous Trofeo Berlusconi.

The Old Lady fell to a 4-1 defeat at San Siro last night and saw star defender Giorgio Chiellini stretchered off with a serious knee injury.

The only bright spot was a goal from young prospect Christian Pasquato, who surely has a bright future.

“We made several mistakes due to lapses in concentration,” Ranieri lamented on Sky Sport Italia.

“The game was a good example to show the lads the kind of mistakes that we don’t usually make.

“But I was very happy with the young lads who came on. They are talented and have character and need to be allowed to play a few minutes every so often.”

It was a poor night for Del Piero, who failed to make the expected impression on the game.

“Of course this loss counts,” he admitted. “But we must see it for what it is. The important thing is not to make these mistakes on Wednesday.

“The squad has definitely been galvanised but the problem is that Inter and Milan have been as well. We will see the true gap between us on the field.”

However, the Juve skipper was much more positive when he reviewed his personal form over the last month, which has earned him the call to Italy’s squad to face Austria.

“I have played well with Amauri and David Trezeguet and Vincenzo Iaquinta is an excellent player,” Pinturricchio enthused. “There is no preference on my part.

“I’m happy because I am on good form and enjoying the renewed enthusiasm that Marcello Lippi’s return to the Italy bench has brought.”

Chiello

18 August 2008
Chiellini: «I took a big weight off my chest»

The night has passed and so have Giorgio Chiellini’s fears. The day after the injury picked up at the Berlusconi Trophy, the defender underwent ultrasound scans and was also visited by his father Fabio, an orthopaedic doctor. The outcome was very reassuring. The diagnosis is of 1st or 2nd degree sprain in one of the muscles in his left knee.

His recovery time should be approximately 45-60 days. He'll need to rest completely for about ten days, and after the Champions League qualifiers' second leg he'll return to Turin to continue his therapy.

He suffered a similar injury in early 2008 (but it was his right knee that time) and it took him one month to get back on the pitch.

Giorgio's first comments were typical of someone who was relieved after fearing the worst: «Fortunately the ligament is ok – he confessed coming out of the Fornaca Clinic in Turin – so any risk of more serious damage has been exorcized, which would have meant missing most of the season. I already had less pain this morning, but I was still a bit tense until I got the results. They definitely took a big weight off my chest. Now I'll concentrate on resting for a few days and then I'll start working to get back on the pitch, but without rushing. I just want to thank all my team mates, my friends and the fans who have been expressing their sympathy to me since last night».

apa yg gw takutkan terjadi, Chiello cedera...prosesnya krn benturan dr si keparat Paloschi, dan yg lucu lagi dgn konyol dan gayanya yg arogan Gattusso malah mencak2 saat wasit meniup peluit sbg tanda pelanggaran, fuck Rino!!!!
permainan Milcuk menyedihkan krn gw liat bermain keras dan lumayan kasar, Milan Merda!

Grygera, all clear. Marchisio to be visited on Saturday

No problem for Zdenek Grygera. The Czech player suffered a knock to his head in a clash during the first half of Juventus-Artmedia Bratislava, and had to leave the pitch. But there was no commotion and his condition is good; he'll be at Ranieri's disposal when the team restarts training.

Claudio Marchisio will also be in Vinovo Saturday. The midfielder was forced to cut short his Olympic adventure in Beijing due to a muscle injury to his calf. Claudio will undergo in-depth tests and Juventus' medical staff will then be able to establish how serious his injury is.

Del Piero: «Let’s already focus on the return game»

Juventus had been waiting two years for this moment and on their return to Europe they showed how eager they were to make up for lost time, leaving no chance to Artmedia, who were never able to keep up with the Bianconeri.

Tonight the Bianconeri were indeed absolutely focused on the task at hand, just like their skipper Del Piero, who played an excellent game and also scored a fantastic goal. «We played a good game, we weren't lacking in almost anything – Alex commented after the match -, we created several chances and didn’t’ risk much at the back. We're satisfied, but we mustn't think too much about tonight’s result, we must keep going. We need to focus immediately on the return game. Four goals can be enough to go through, but only if we play the return match with the same intensity and determination».

grazie Camo!

umpan2nya dini hari td cukup baik dan terarah, dan kolaborasinya dgn Momo membuat lini tengah Juve terlihat dominan dan tangguh!

Ranieri: «A good performance, we'll be even fitter in the return game»

He hasn't changed his mind even after seeing his lads crush Artmedia 4-0.

Claudio Ranieri remains convinced that a place in the Champions League is to be earned over two games.

Juventus' Manager was in any case satisfied about his team's performance and confident in view of the second leg. These were his remarks when interviewed by Juventus Channel after the game: «There's a return match too, we'll have to stay very concentrated there, keeping in mind that this team won 5-0 against Celtic two years ago, but we're obviously in a good position to go through and in two weeks' time we'll be even fitter. We always managed the game tonight; on the whole it was a good performance. Three strikers? I chose Iaquinta because I'd noticed their left-back wasn't coming forward much».

Reports: Alex and Trez to start
Wednesday 13 August, 2008

Claudio Ranieri is expected to start David Trezeguet and Alessandro Del Piero up front in Juventus’ Champions League opener against Artmedia tonight.

The Old Lady begin their European adventure looking to follow Fiorentina’s example after the Viola beat Slavia Prague 2-0 last night.

Ranieri is spoilt for choice in attack as he prepares his side to take on the Slovaks and he has Del Piero, Trezeguet, Amauri and Vincenzo Iaquinta available.

Sources suggest that the former Parma tactician will opt for experience in Turin tonight and will field Trezeguet and Del Piero, with Amauri and Iaquinta waiting on the bench.

The main headache for Ranieri is the midfield, where a number of key men are absent.

Cristiano Zanetti, Claudio Marchisio and Marco Marchionni are injured, while Sebastian Giovinco is on international duty and Pavel Nedved is suspended.

Danish international Christian Poulsen is likely to be handed an official debut alongside Momo Sissoko.

Cristian Molinaro seems to have shaken off his injury woes to start at left-back.

Juventus (probable): Buffon; Grygera, Mellberg, Chiellini, Molinaro; Camoranesi, Sissoko, Poulsen, Salihamidzic; Del Piero, Trezeguet

Ranieri: Juve ready for Europe

Ranieri: Juve ready for Europe
Tuesday 12 August, 2008

Claudio Ranieri insists Juventus are ready to dive back into the Champions League. “We’ve been waiting two years for this moment.”

The 1996 winners and 2003 finalists have been out of Europe since their 2006 demotion in the Calciopoli scandal, working their way back into the top flight and third place.

They have the opportunity to qualify for the competition proper by taking on Artmedia Bratislava in the preliminary round tomorrow evening.

“We’ve been waiting two years for our return to the Champions League,” smiled the Coach.

“We are ready and the lads have exactly the right amount of determination. For many of them, this match is the crowning moment of two years of sacrifices and nobody wants to waste this chase, even if we respect our opponents.”

Juve are undoubtedly the favourites to go through, but have to reshuffle their midfield with news that Cristiano Zanetti and Marco Marchionni are out injured for a month and Pavel Nedved is suspended.

Add to that the three youngsters currently on international duty at the Olympics – Sebastian Giovinco, Claudio Marchisio and Paolo De Ceglie – and Ranieri has few alternatives.

“I am certain that the replacements will play equally well. It is logical that a Coach wants to reach an important appointment with everyone at his disposal, but this is part of football. I more or less already have the team in my head.”

Artmedia qualified for this stage by defeating Tampere United 7-3 on aggregate and before then La Valletta.

“We have a lot of respect for this team. They have already scored 10 goals in the preliminary round and two years ago did very well in the Champions League.

“They thumped Celtic 5-0 and won 3-2 away to Porto. Besides, you don’t win a League and domestic cup on a fluke. I saw some of the Slovakian matches and they have four or five truly interesting players.

“There are two games to play in this round and the worst mistake we could make would be to assume the Champions League is already in our grasp.

“This is why I don’t think any result in this first leg will leave us ‘relaxed’ for the trip to Bratislava. What would happen if we failed to qualify? We’d play the UEFA Cup.”

Marchisio misses Cameroon
Monday 11 August, 2008

Young Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio will miss Italy’s final Group D game against Cameroon but may be back for the Olympic quarter-finals.

The 22-year-old has been experiencing pain in his right calf and went for tests in Beijing today.

There had been fears that the problem could rule Marchisio out of the rest of the tournament, but the scans showed that the damage is probably not too extensive.

A final verdict won’t be announced for another couple of days and Marchisio will be urged to rest his leg completely.

While the talented youngster will miss out on Wednesday’s game against Cameroon but is hoping to be back for Italy’s quarter-final on August 16.

Udinese buy Belardi

Udinese buy Belardi
Monday 11 August, 2008

Udinese have completed the signature of Juventus goalkeeper Emanuele Belardi and the 30-year-old can’t wait to get started with his new club.

Belardi had the tough task of playing understudy to Gigi Buffon for the last two years and failed to impress when he was called upon on several occasions last term.

As a result, Juve have brought in Austrian international Alex Manninger and Antonio Chimenti, who moved from Udinese last month.

The arrival of Chimenti spelled the end of Belardi’s time in Turin, but created a space for the Salerno-born custodian at the Stadio Friuli where he will be reserve to Samir Handanovic.

“Udinese are an excellent club and I am happy to be here,” Belardi told his new club’s website.

“This season I want to be successful and I will be helped by the fact that I am with a team that has a clear project and an important programme.

“Udinese have strong ambitions and such desire to improve and show what a great side they are.

“I will try and be ready whenever I am called upon. I am excited because I think I have joined a squad that is a good mix of experience and youth.”

The Friulani may have suffered in pre-season friendlies, but Belardi is concentrating on the future.

“I am a direct person and I don’t believe in hiding behind excuses, but we are still at the start of the season,” he said.

“All I will say for now is that we must continue to work hard and show lots of enthusiasm and commitment.”

Serbian midfielder Nenad Kovacevic

Juve consider Kovacevic
Monday 11 August, 2008

Juventus are being linked to Serbian midfielder Nenad Kovacevic as they face a midfield injury crisis.

The Old Lady seemed to have completed their shopping for the summer, but they may be forced to reassess after an unlucky week.

With Cristiano Zanetti and Marco Marchionni both facing around a month out of action, the Bianconeri are looking a little short of options in the middle of the pitch.

Jose Mourinho has emphatically closed the door on a possible move for Inter’s Dejan Stankovic, who was in Claudio Ranieri’s sights.

And while Tuttosport insist that the Turin giants will turn their attentions back to Roma ace Alberto Aquilani, a more realistic target has also been suggested.

Lens midfielder Kovacevic has 25 international caps to his name and is a reliable midfielder with leadership qualities.

The 27-year-old would be able to provide the kind of cover that Ranieri needs and would be relatively cheap.

Sources suggest that Juve would only need to find £5m to persuade Lens to let Kovacevic go and his wages of £500,000 per year would be easily affordable.

However, German side Hamburg are also known to be following Kovacevic closely and could compete for his signature.

Marchionni and Zanetti carried out in-depth tests today to ascertain the roots of the muscle problems they suffered during Sunday morning's training session: both have muscle tears in their right thigh. Another special day at Juventus. Indeed today there's another important birthday to celebrate. After Michelangelo Rampulla (who turned 46 yesterday), today it's Gianluca Pessotto's turn.

Giovinco The New Zidane - Furino

Giovinco The New Zidane - Furino

Former Juventus midfielder Giuseppe Furino believes Sebastian Giovinco can follow in the footsteps of Zinedine Zidane, Michel Platini, Alessandro Del Piero and Roberto Baggio to establish himself as a Bianconeri legend.

Giovinco has been the star of the show for Italy at the Olympics and many tip the Juventus starlet to go on and become one of the greatest players in football.

Furino, who made over 360 appearances for the club during the 1970’s and 80’s, believes the 21-year-old can emulate players of the great Juve teams of the past such as Zidane and Platini.

“Giovinco is the number 10 of the future. Sebastian can and has the right to succeed people like Platini, Baggio, Zidane and Del Piero,” Furino told Tuttosport.

“I have seen Giovinco play at the Olympics and he is unstoppable. People fear him and this means he is strong and it’s a great sign.

“Giovinco has the qualities to relive the times of the great Juve number 10’s because he plays like them and he has the talent.

“I really hope he gets a call up from Marcello Lippi when he returns from the Olympics. He (Lippi) should take Giovinco to the senior side.”

A Number of top teams have been trying to prize the Juve man away from Turin. Palermo tried to take him as part of the Amauri deal but the Bianconeri played hardball.

Reports in Italy suggest Arsene Wenger has shown an interest but it’s unlikely that the Old Lady will allow Giovinco to leave.

Capello 'recognises' Juve

Capello 'recognises' Juve
Sunday 10 August, 2008

England manager Fabio Capello believes Claudio Ranieri’s side “reminds me of my Juventus.”

He won two Serie A titles with the Bianconeri – albeit revoked in the Calciopoli scandal – and was in the stands to watch the new Juve’s 0-0 draw with Manchester United this week.

“I admit it, the Bianconeri impressed me against Manchester United,” Capello told Tuttosport newspaper.

“I saw a solid side, one capable of demanding respect from the Champions of Europe. Their attitude really does remind me of my Juventus.

“I walked out of Old Trafford convinced that Ranieri’s team can compete with anyone in Serie A and the Champions League.

“What he has at his disposal looks like a side built to withstand the pressures of both competitions.”

Since Capello’s departure, the Bianconeri have been in Serie B and risen from the ashes to finish third in their comeback season.

Ranieri may be known as ‘Tinker Man’, but his versatility is admired by the England boss.

“That is a very important characteristic, equal to that of experience, to go far in the Champions League. I don’t doubt that the so-called old guard will do very well in Europe.

“Their hunger and rage after a year in Serie B is clear in every move they make on that pitch.

“The lads truly deserve to do well and I am very happy to wish them all the best.”

Del Piero Thanks United Fans For Applause

Del Piero Thanks United Fans For Applause

Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero came back on yesterday's friendly against Manchester United and thanked the English fans for applauding him.

or Juventus it's time to draw up a first balance after their tour in England. A victory against Arsenal (1-0), a defeat against HSV (3-0), and a scoreless draw against English and European champions Manchester United: these were the results obtained by the Bianconeri, the first two matches being in the Emirates Cup organised by the Gunners.

On his official website, Juve captain Alex Del Piero talked about the match against the Red Devils.

"Our English away trip ended with a 0-0 draw against the reigning European champions. In these matches we've had a chance to play matches against international opponents and prepare for the Champions League preliminary match, which is crucial for our season," he stated.

Despite it being only a friendly, the match against Manchester United will remain in Pinturicchio's heart for a long time, specifically because of the applause he received by the English fans.

"Personally, I'm very happy about the way I'm playing right now. And on my exit from Old Trafford, the applause from the fans moved me and gave me a big emotion, for this I thank them," he concluded.

Zanetti doubt to face Artmedia

Zanetti doubt to face Artmedia
Sunday 10 August, 2008

Juventus could be without Cristiano Zanetti and Marco Marchionni for Wednesday’s Champions League battle with Artmedia.

The former Inter midfielder pulled up during training with a muscular problem and might not recover in time for the first leg of the preliminary round.

To make matters worse, winger Marchionni also sustained a muscular twinge this weekend and will undergo tests on Monday.

Marchionni has been in good form during the pre-season friendlies and may well have made an appearance against Artmedia Bratislava.

Mauro Camoranesi was rested as a precaution and worked alone in the gym rather than on the training field.

Camoranesi is set to complete the Juventus midfield with Pavel Nedved, Momo Sissoko and new signing Christian Poulsen, if Zanetti does not recover.

The good news for Claudio Ranieri is that Jonathan Zebina is back in full training along with the recovering Vincenzo Iaquinta, Cristian Molinaro and Zdenek Grygera.

Arsenal In €7.5m Swoop For Giovinco?

Arsenal In €7.5m Swoop For Giovinco?

Arsenal are ready to table a €7.5m bid for Juventus starlet Sebastian Giovinco according to Calciomercato.

The Gunners have been keeping close tabs on 'La Formica Atomica' and they are ready to try and pick the Old Lady’s pockets for their target.

The Juve youth product has been in stunning form and he is using the 2008 Olympic games as a shop window.

However, that window seems firmly shut as the Bianconeri are not willing to let him go.

Calciomercato claims that the Gunners are ready to swoop with a €7.5m offer for the 21-year-old prodigy.

A number of clubs including Palermo wanted Giovinco but Juve stood firm and resisted offers as the player is considered an important part of the team’s future.

Arsene Wenger’s penchant for signing youngsters is showing no sign of changing as he is also looking to sign Udinese’s Gokhan Inler.

The player’s agent recently revealed there was contact with Arsenal, but so far nothing has been written in stone.

Giovinco is likely to be used as a first choice player in Claudio Ranieri's side and he is being regarded as their heir to Pavel Nedved's throne when the Czech midfielder hangs up his boots.

Tiago Mendes

Turks To Gobble Up Tiago?

Juventus midfielder Tiago Mendes has had a tough time time adapting since his arrival at the club and may finally be moving elsewhere...

Tiago arrived at Juventus last summer and was expected to be a fixture in the Juve's starting XI, but he has made little impact.

In fact, the Portuguese player has made just 20 appearances for the Bianconeri, causing him to lose his spot in the Seleccao squad and miss out on Euro 2008.

Juventus' management recently declared Tiago would be playing for them again this season, but the former Olympique Lyon man is eager to relaunch his career and has attracted plenty of interest this off-season.

Atletico Madrid, Porto, Sporting Lisbon and Benfica have all made inquiries about the player this summer, but none of them have put in a concrete bid for the midfield maestro.

However, a new party now seems to be interested in Tiago - the Turkish team Fenerbache. The Super Lig side have an abundance of talented midfielders already and Tiago could line up nicely beside the likes of Emre Belozoglu, Alex and Ugur Boral.

The 27-year-old lost his first-team spot at Chelsea when Michael Essien arrived at the club and the same thing looks to be happening at Juve with the arrival of Christian Poulsen.

Tiago signed for Juventus for a hefty sum of 13 million euros and was considered one of the biggest flops of the 2007/08 Serie A campaign.

Sissoko renews contract until 2013

Sissoko renews contract until 2013

Momo Sissoko is definitely living a brilliant week: on Wednesday night at Old Trafford he was one of the stars of the great match the Bianconeri played against Manchester United, and today he renewed his Juventus contract, extending it by one year. Momo has indeed signed until June 30th 2013. This is a clear sigh that the Club have faith in his extraordinary abilities and good news for all the Bianconeri fans who in just over six months, seeing how authoritatively he’s become a leader in midfield, have elected him one of their favourite players.

Cabrini: Chiellini In My Top 5 Defenders

Cabrini: Chiellini In My Top 5 Defenders

Defensive legend Antonio Cabrini has heaped praise upon Juventus back Giorgio Chiellini...

Former Juventus and Italy defender Antonio Cabrini has added to the many voices in Italy touting current Juve centre back Chiellini as one of the best in the world and the leader of the new generation of great Italian defenders.

Italy has a rich tradition of defensive powerhouses with names like Gentile, Scirea, Maldini and Baresi instantly springing to mind. Now, an heir in in the shape of tall 23-year-old Chiellini may have been found. Cabrini sees the former Livorno and Fiorentina player as the fifth best defender in the world after the highly regarded Alessandro Nesta, Philippe Mexes, Christoph Metzelder and Fabio Cannavaro.

“His most important characteristic is his ability to react quickly despite his size, a quality which he probably developed while playing on the wing,” said former World Cup winner Cabrini.

Indeed, Chiellini is still young, turning 24 on the 14 August, with a great deal of time to develop and improve his game further.

“He only began playing the central defensive role with continuity at the beginning of last season and still has plenty to improve upon,” said Cabrini, adding, “I believe that in the future he can reach the levels of Nesta and Cannavaro at his best.”

These are flattering words that will surely motivate the 13-times-capped player to reach new heights in his game.
