Ferrara: 'Juve dream come true'

Ciro Ferrara admits “my dream has come true” after becoming the permanent Juventus Coach, describing his tactics, management style and a little “fear.”

Appointed caretaker manager for the last two games of the season following Claudio Ranieri’s dismissal, this evening he signed a two-year contract.

“My dream has come true. This is a wonderful a very tough test, but I feel ready and as I told the club three weeks ago, I can do this.

“There have to be risks and dangers, as these help you grow and win, so yes among the many sensations right now there is a little fear.”

This is Ferrara’s first Coaching job after working as co-ordinator of the Juventus youth sector as well as Marcello Lippi’s assistant manager in the Italy squad.

“My football is made of constant movement from everyone, a high level of quality with the physical condition that allows us to survive until the end of the season. This is an aspect that I want to take great care of, as I want players who can guarantee consistency.

“If the team has fun with its football, then keeping possession for as long as possible is the right road to take. It is not easy to do that in Italy, but I would like a team who can play with different systems, is hungry without the ball and nasty with it.”

The young tactician has been likened to Pep Guardiola, who just won the Champions League and Liga with Barcelona in his debut season.

“I don’t want to be like Guardiola, nor Lippi, although admittedly I come from Lippi’s school of thought. I would like to be Ferrara – consistent in what he says and that means the players respect you. [Fabio] Capello had one way of achieving that, [Carlo] Ancelotti had another. I will have my own way.”

It remains to be seen how Ferrara will fit new signing Diego into his line-up, but he is not intimidated.

“Diego will be accommodated with a different system to the one used in the last two years, but it would be wrong to build a team around him. He is a great champion, but the individual must be at Juve’s disposal. After all, if Diego is missing then we cannot be without a Plan B.

“It will be a 4-3-1-2 system, but that can be changed to 4-3-2-1 or 4-2-3-1 depending on the circumstances. With the characteristics of the players we have right now, I’d say 4-3-1-2 is the best solution.”

Ferrara drove up to Turin this afternoon from the Italy get-together at Coverciano, where he had been working as Lippi’s assistant manager, but will no longer travel to South Africa for the Confederations Cup.

“[Director of sport Alessio] Secco and [general manager Jean-Claude] Blanc called me and explained the newspaper theory I was a second choice. They took this time and consulted other Coaches, but that just shows how much thought went into this decision. I would have done the same.

“They picked me and I am very happy to sit on the bench of one of the six or seven most important clubs in the world.

“In my five days with the Nazionale this week I kept in contact with the club and was anxiously awaiting the call. When it came I rushed from Florence to Turin.”

Lippi has confirmed nobody will be brought in to replace Ferrara in the Azzurri staff.

Trez considers English switch

Trez considers English switch
Wednesday 3 June, 2009

David Trezeguet is more likely to join a Premier League club than one in Italy or France, reveals his agent.

The Juventus striker has been left on the bench for most of the campaign even after recovering from knee surgery, so he is looking to move on.

He had been linked with a return to Ligue 1 with the likes of Lyon, Olympique Marseille and Monaco.

“If he does leave Juve, I really don’t think he will remain in Italy. Juventus don’t want to sell him to a direct opponent,” Antonio Caliendo told Goal.com.

“The French iron is looking a bit cold. David is not very convinced about this and would like to evaluate other opportunities.”

This narrows his future down to Spain or England, but while Barcelona seem to have lost their interest in the veteran, Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham are said to be on high alert.

“The English option is possible and there are quite a few different clubs interested in David,” continued agent Caliendo.

“Obviously I cannot say which, but just think about the sides that can afford a world class player like him. There aren’t all that many to choose from.”

Buffon: «Juventus has a solid base»

Buffon: «Juventus has a solid base»

«The base of the team is good and if we manage to improve further even we will be fighting for an important title. The signings of Cannavaro and Diego are definitely two very relevant moves and which bring a hope for the best».

The season has just come to an end but Gigi Buffon, through his official website, is already speaking of next season. The Juventus number one said he is happy to have reached the second place but a champion of his likes and a team like Juventus cannot feel satisfied and therefore he is already looking at the future which unfortunately will not see Pavel Nedved on the field: «I send him my best regards. The ceremony on Sunday was very moving and while I was going round the stadium I could not help thinking that with his departure I am the only one from the players who joined in 2001 to still be here: another sign of the passage of time».

In his evaluation of this year Gigi does not leave anybody out: : «An end of season thought should go towards Mr. Ranieri and all his staff. If we managed to obtain this goal at the end of the season it is also thanks to their work of the lest years Seeing that it is a time of farewells I would like to remember another two great players who retired from football on Sunday: Paolo Maldini and Luis Figo. With Paolo I shared many splendid moments with the national team whilst the Portuguese gave great lustre to Italian football. I would like to say “see you” to Carlo Ancelotti. Italy is losing a coach of great human quality. His gentleman-like manners has been very often given prominence over his professionalism but if he won so much in recent years it is not only because he is a great person but also because he is an excellent coach and I who had the fortune of working with him can confirm this».

Finally Gigi spoke of the next commitment, the Confederations Cup in South Africa: «We will be meeting some of the strongest teams in the world. This competition will not be as precious as the World cup or the European cup but we want to do well and try to win».

Ciao Pavel Nedved...you'll be missed but never forgotten...

Pavel...you're always in my heart dan in my soul...you're a Legend for us!!!!

Thx utk dedikasi, loyalitas, semangat dan totalitas dlm bermain, sepak terjang mu tidak akan lekang sampe akhir hayat ini....Selamat jalan Pavel Nedved...bye2...
