Team Talk : Prepare match against Fiomerda
After Wednesday's games, which completed the round begun with the Turin derby on Tuesday, all Serie A teams have played an equal number of games and everybody has begun concentrating on the next match. The Bianconeri began preparing themselves for the Fiorentina game one day early and are busy training at full speed.
Claudio Ranieri unfortunately received the news he was expecting: for the match against the Viola, he'll have to do without Chiellini and Nedved, alongside Zanetti, all suspended. The defender will have to sit out one game, the Czech player two (thus he'll be missing the away game at Genoa too), while the midfielder still has to sit out the second of his two-match suspension earned in Reggio.
These three important absences will somewhat be compensated by David Trezeguet's return, however. The striker has fully recovered from sinusitis and has been back with the squad since yesterday, even if today he did train on his own. The Frenchman asked for the morning off, and trained in Vinovo in the afternoon.
The rest of the group trained together in damp and cold weather. After a series of warm-up exercises, Ranieri's training focused on an 8-a-side match. Iaquinta didn't take part in the session, as he's still having problems with his back. His condition will have to be evaluated in the next few days, but he should be able to recover in time for the game against Fiorentina.

Player Talk : Palladino
Palladino extends contract until 2011
Raffaele Palladino has extended his one-year contract. The new agreement will keep him at Juventus until June 30 2011.
Juventus' Director of Sport Alessio Secco commented the deal speaking to Juventus Channel: «In the last few months there have been unfounded rumours regarding Palladino leaving the Club, but Raffaele has grown up with us, he loves Juventus and there were no doubts about him wanting and being able to continue playing with us. This extension is an opportunity for him and for Juventus to keep growing together».
And speaking of the transfer market, Secco emphasized that the rumours, which have appeared in some newspapers, regarding Juventus possibly being interested in Flamini, and Arsenal being annoyed by this, are totally unfounded: «There's no truth to our being interested in Flamini. Needless to say, he's an excellent player, but we never tried to get him, in fact this morning our MD Blanc contacted Arsenal to reassure them. A transparent gesture, important in terms of maintaining good relationships between two big clubs such as Juventus and Arsenal, and which was appreciated by the London Club ».

Zebina: «Now let's focus on Fiorentina»
One point in two games. Not exactly what the Bianconeri were expecting from the two close games against Reggina and Torino. The events in Reggio and a 0-0 draw in the derby prevented them from continuing their winning run begun against Udinese and Roma.
European-flavoured games, to saviour again real soon. Fiorentina arrive in Turin on Sunday and Jonathan Zebina, back after missing the game at the Granillo, would rather focus on the Viola than recriminate about the derby. «We could've won – the defender told Juventus Channel – but we could've also lost. We played a bad first half, whereas we improved in the second. We must beat Fiorentina to make up; it's a key match for us».
Player Talk : Neddy
Thursday 28 February, 2008
Juventus winger Pavel Nedved has been handed a two-match ban for his dismissal against Torino and is facing internal disciplinary measures.
The Czech veteran was one of the Bianconeri’s better players in Tuesday evening’s Derby della Mole stalemate, but he blotted his copybook with a needless dismissal.
Nedved was shown a straight red card during stoppage time for pulling Gianluca Comotto’s hair and will miss two matches – including the weekend’s heated derby against Fiorentina.
Juve President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli was reportedly livid with Nedved and has issued a fine of around £5,000.
However, the repercussions may not stop there as Cobolli Gigli and director Jean-Claude Blanc are meeting with advisers Paolo Montali and Riccardo Montanaro to discuss further disciplinary measures.
La Stampa states that Cobolli Gigli drew up a new code of ethics at Juve after the Calciopoli crisis and that he believes Nedved has violated this ethos with his aggressive tendencies.
Nedved was also sent off against Genoa earlier in the season and it is believed that his fiery temper is causing some anxiety in the Old Lady camp.

Team Talk : prepare for Derby
Monday 25 February, 2008
Claudio Ranieri is relishing the chance to move on from Saturday’s controversy as Juventus face Torino in tomorrow’s derby showdown.
The Old Lady lost out to Reggina on Saturday after some dubious refereeing decisions by referee Paolo Dondarini, prompting the Bianconeri to send a letter to FIGC lamenting the attitude of Serie A officials.
Juve have the chance to put their Stadio Granillo nightmare behind them as they take on Torino and look to repeat their hard-fought 1-0 victory back in Week 6, even if the scorer that day David Trezeguet is out with the ‘flu’.
“The first game was good and we triumphed thanks to a strike from a champion in Trezeguet,” Ranieri recalled. “I’m expecting a similar game tomorrow even if Trez won’t be there.
“I’m hoping to get Vincenzo Iaquinta and Jonathan Zebina back and it’s a shame that I won’t have Cristiano Zanetti, but whoever takes his place will do well.”
Ranieri has been uncharacteristically vocal about the events of Saturday and gave a final explanation of his frustration.
“The lads weren’t angry in Reggio Calabria, but they were bitter and disappointed,” he explained.
“The open letter? This club does things clearly and wanted to say something to everyone.
“However, given the fixture list, we haven’t got a chance to dwell on the past.
“This is a game that is more than just a League match and that’s why it is so great. The formbook goes out of the window.
“Toro at the moment have quality players who are almost as charged as ours. Novellino has taken stock during the January transfer window and has a side well suited to his style of play. I would enjoy seeing a top of the table derby, like it was when I was a player.”
Azzurri goalkeeper Gigi Buffon will return after being rested against Reggina to take the strain off his injured back and midfielder Antonio Nocerino is back from suspension.
Juventus (probable): Buffon; Salihamidzic, Legrottaglie, Chiellini, Molinaro; Camoranesi, Sissoko, Nocerino, Nedved; Iaquinta, Del Piero

Player Talk : Trezeguet
Monday 25 February, 2008
David Trezeguet is the latest Juventus voice to blast the peninsula’s officials and claims to be disappointed by referee designator Pierluigi Collina.
The French hitman was absent in Reggio Calabria due to a ‘flu’ bug, but he watched the game and reacted indignantly.
“We were penalised in an incredible way,” he raged to La Stampa. “Reggina’s penalty may have been fair, but the rest was just wrong.
“They have been telling us that the referees are young, and that they need experience and we must help them. We are doing that, but now they have gone past what can be attributed to inexperience.
“I expected more from Collina. The players and the clubs can’t wait for the refs to mature.
“The officials want to be protagonists and forget that people come to the stadium to see us, not them.
"Is it to do with Calciopoli? It could be, we should take that into account but you can’t always be looking back. We don’t have to apologise to anyone. This is the strongest Juve side of the last 25 years.”
Juve must now bounce back for the midweek derby against Torino and the visit of Fiorentina at the weekend. Trez is still a doubt for Tuesday, but he has confidence in his teammates.
“We are having an excellent campaign,” he said. “I like the way we are playing, but there is a lot to improve upon. I won’t settle for second, even if Inter are too strong.
“The derby is the city’s game and it means so much to the fans. But for us players Fiorentina is the big one.”

Amoruso Talk
Monday 25 February, 2008
Reggina marksman Nicola Amoruso insists that referee Paolo Dondarini was right to award him a penalty on Saturday, but admits Juventus were due one too.
The former Juve man was the hero for the Calabrians when he converted an injury-time spot-kick for a 2-1 win at the Stadio Granillo, but many felt it shouldn’t have been awarded.
Mohamed Sissoko attempted to clear the ball in the Juve box with a bicycle-kick but made contact with Amoruso, prompting referee Dondarini to award a penalty.
“I have severe bruising on my arm,” the 33-year-old told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “The contact with Sissoko was very hard.”
The decision was particularly harsh, as Juve had been denied what seemed to be a clear penalty when Sissoko was tripped by Carlos Valdez.
“There was certainly a penalty for Juventus,” Amoruso admitted. “But I believe that Reggina have suffered from several bad decisions so far this term and we are still in credit.”
In the heated finale, Bianconeri midfielder Cristiano Zanetti kicked out at Amoruso and was dismissed, but it seems that the pair made peace.
“He was sent off, but he immediately came up to me in the dressing room and apologised,” Amoruso said. “We have cleared it up now.”
The controversy is set to linger after Juventus sent a letter to the FIGC complaining about their treatment from referees this season – a move that has invoked the wrath of the Cadetti champions’ rivals.

Breaking News
Monday 25 February, 2008
Referee Paolo Dondarini could face a lengthy suspension after his controversial performance in Juventus’ defeat against Reggina on Saturday.
The Bologna native was widely criticised for denying Juventus two penalties and awarding Reggina a dubious late spot-kick at the Stadio Granillo.
According to reports in La Gazzetta dello Sport, Dondarini will be out of top-flight action for two months and will have to spend time in Serie B.
Mauro Bergonzi received a similar punishment after the Napoli-Juventus game in October when two hotly debated penalties were awarded to the Vesuviani.
The pressure is mounting on referee designator Pierluigi Collina as calls for the introduction of foreign referees intensify.

Ranieri Talk
Monday 25 February, 2008
The controversy over Paolo Dondarini’s officiating in Juventus’ defeat at Reggina rages on with Claudio Ranieri insisting he is “speechless”.
The Old Lady have written a letter to the FIGC claiming that they are being discriminated against after dubious refereeing proved costly at the Stadio Granillo last Saturday.
Ranieri’s side had a good penalty shout waved away and conceded the all-important second goal in the dying minutes courtesy of a hotly-debated spot-kick for Reggina.
“I don’t want to go into the merits of all Dondarini’s decisions but the lack of justice leaves you speechless and perplexed,” the Juve Coach moaned on Tg1.
“It surprised me so much because Dondarini is one of the best referees and takes charge at international level.”
Dondarini turned down Juve’s appeals for a penalty despite an apparent trip from Carlos Valdez on Mohamed Sissoko, but it seems that the referee may have acknowledged the foul.
“For the penalty we should have had, when he indicated that he had played advantage because the ball broke to Alessandro Del Piero it showed that he had seen it and made an erroneous decision,” Ranieri revealed.
It was a dark night for Sissoko as he was penalised at the other end when his attempted bicycle-kick clearance saw him connect with Nicola Amoruso’s shoulder.
“The spot-kick that Sissoko gave away could have been a spot-kick even though he had no idea that there was a player behind him,” Ranieri concluded.

Team Talk : letter to the FIGC and Referees’ Association
Sunday 24 February, 2008
Juventus have written an open letter to the FIGC and Referees’ Association demanding action to stop the club being “made to pay” for Calciopoli.
The Bianconeri were furious after last night’s 2-1 defeat at Reggina, in which there were two clear penalties not awarded before a stoppage-time spot-kick gave the Amaranto the win.
Now they have taken further action by writing an open letter to the Federation and the AIA – Referees’ Association – signed by President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli and general manager Jean-Claude Blanc.
“The repetition of such serious errors forces us to ask for the intervention of the Federation to guarantee the regularity of this campaign, protecting the work and professionalism of the players, Coach and directors of Juventus.”
One of the theories put forward openly in this letter is that referees are giving decisions against Juve to continue ‘punishing’ them for the Calciopoli scandal.
This was the first time this season that referee Paolo Dondarini had been assigned to officiate a Juventus match, as he was one of the figures accused – and cleared – in the trial last year.
“Some decisions by the referees are confirming the doubts raised by more than a few people – that there is not a relaxed and adequate approach towards Juventus considering the serious and professional way the club and team are behaving.
“What is certain is that Juventus cannot keep paying for something they have already paid an extremely severe price.
“The club is lifting itself back up from that thanks to the passion of its fans, who legitimately ask for respect.”
The Bianconeri were demoted to Serie B and stripped of two Scudetto titles in the Calciopoli scandal.
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Cristiano Zanetti is handed a two-match ban for his dismissal against Reggina.
The midfielder saw red in stoppages for kicking out at Nicola Amoruso.

Team Talk
Sunday 24 February, 2008
Juventus President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli demands a clampdown on poor referees, even if it means bringing officials in from overseas.
The Turin giants were livid after a 2-1 defeat away to Reggina last night, in which they appeared to be denied at least two clear penalties with another two dubious incidents.
“It’s the same thing that happened at Napoli,” said the patron, referring to a 3-1 defeat at the San Paolo earlier this season with similarly debatable decisions.
“Juve will not pass judgment on referees, but the Federation must look at its conscience and take action. Mistakes can happen, but not repeatedly.
“Juventus won on the pitch here and deserved the three points. I cannot complain about the performance of my players or Coach. In my view, the referee was not up to the task.”
Paolo Dondarini further infuriated the Bianconeri by awarding Reggina a stoppage-time penalty for Momo Sissoko’s clumsy clearance that struck Nicola Amoruso.
What really irritated them, though, was that at least two clear spot-kicks were earlier denied to Juve. Both were for fouls by Valdez, who climbed all over Pavel Nedved and then evidently tripped Sissoko.
“I don’t want to believe in bad faith, but the approach and judgment of the referee was evidently more in favour of one side than the other. It was so very obvious,” added Cobolli Gigli.
“Something has to be done to improve the impartiality of officials, as it was clear for everyone tonight what happened.
“I think the refereeing designator has to quickly provide officials with the technological advantages that they desperately need, even if Sissoko’s penalty incident was a metre away from the referee, so all he needed was to use his eyes.”
Coach Claudio Ranieri hinted that Juve were being made to pay for the Calciopoli scandal, but the President saw a bigger picture.
“I absolutely do not believe in a plot against Juventus, otherwise I would not be here doing this job. It’s the quality of the referees that is much lower than it needs to be. I never wanted foreign referees in Serie A, but at this point it might be the solution.
“Many clubs have been penalised by poor decision-making, not just Juve. Of course, some clubs were penalised less than others.”
The reference was obviously to Inter, who have been on the end of a string of favourable decisions this term.

Ranieri Talk
Ranieri 'bitter' at ref treatment
Saturday 23 February, 2008
Claudio Ranieri was visibly angry and “bitter” after a disastrous refereeing performance, suggesting Juventus are still paying for the Calciopoli scandal.
“I do not comment on penalties given or not given to us or other teams. One needs to analyze the entire 90 minutes and what happened in them.
“With that in mind, we are all very bitter at this defeat. It wasn’t the penalty incidents, it was the whole refereeing approach we didn’t like.”
The Bianconeri lost 2-1 at the Granillo to Reggina with a stoppage-time penalty, but before that Juve had four potential spot-kicks rejected, including a clear foul on Momo Sissoko.
“It all comes together and the major incidents are just the tip of the iceberg. We played a great game and pinned Reggina back into their own half during the second half, but we lost and must leave it there,” added Ranieri, who was evidently holding his tongue.
“We can’t talk after this game, we really can’t. The three or four penalties have to be seen as part of the overall night. I will not stand here and give my view on whether it was a spot-kick or not.
“The lads are very upset, as they ran so hard and worked so much. We knew it was going to be tough this year and we just have to keep going through it all.
“We managed to equalise and always play to win, but we didn’t manage it and lost, so we cannot say anything more.”
These comments suggest Ranieri thought it was similar to Juve’s complaints after the 3-1 loss to Napoli earlier this season.
After that game at the San Paolo, the club protested that they were still being made to pay for the Calciopoli scandal. Ranieri was asked if he felt they were back in that situation?
“You’re very perspicacious…” was his only response.
“Referees make mistakes. If my players make a mistake, I talk to them and try to sort them out. I hope Pierluigi Collina will do the same with his referees.”
Sissoko had his first Serie A start in a Juventus shirt, though it was his clumsy overhead kick clearance that handed Reggina their winning penalty.
“Sissoko immediately settled into the squad and feels in good shape. We signed this player because Liverpool play in a similar style to us with two defensive midfielders in front of the back line. I am satisfied with Sissoko’s performance.”
The Coach also explained why injuries had forced a change of tactics, as David Trezeguet and Vincenzo Iaquinta were ruled out.
“We didn’t have Trezeguet or Iaquinta, so I asked to play ball to feet rather than cross into the box. We were certainly missing that figure in the team, but Ale Del Piero and Raffaele Palladino tried to follow my instructions even against a Reggina side clammed up in their own half.”
Reggina Coach Renzo Ulivieri also refused to comment on the controversial penalty incidents.
“The result may well be harsh on Juve, considering how they played and how many chances they had. But my team battled hard, defended well – as they had to – and took home an important result.
“I saw the penalty incident and do not know whether it was a foul or not, but one cannot reason over where the ball was and who the player was looking at. That changes the rules.”
Ulivieri’s job was saved by this victory, as the Amaranto were ready to fire him following four straight defeats.
“I never asked the team to play for their Coach. They must play for themselves, this club and the fans. I have a good rapport with the players and hope they feel the same way about me.
“At the end of the day a tactician is always alone with his thoughts. Four defeats on the trot are a lot, even if they were against the likes of Milan and Roma, but this was a very hard-fought victory.”

Same like old story Mr. Collina!!!

Ranieri talk about match in Reggina
After two Europe-flavoured matches against difficult opponents such as Udinese and Roma, Juventus might have their toughest match in Reggio Calabria after all. For Saturday's game at the Granillo, Claudio Ranieri will have to do without important players such as Buffon, Trezeguet, Iaquinta, Nocerino and Zebina, all this before the two key matches against Torino and Fiorentina.
The many players missing, especially up front, complicate things even more for this match, which didn’t look that easy to begin with. Indeed Ranieri spoke from personal experience: «I spent eight years of my career as a footballer in the Calabria region, fighting to avoid relegation, so I know how the fans can motivate their teams there. And when Juve show up, that motivation only increases. I'm expecting a tremendously difficult game against opponents who, after a good period, have suddenly lost four games, always putting up a fight until the end though».

Player Talk : Alex
Friday 22 February, 2008
Alessandro Del Piero has made a Euro 2008 selection plea to Roberto Donadoni and analysed Italian chances in the Champions League.
The Juventus captain is by no means guaranteed to travel to Austria and Switzerland this summer after being left out of Italy’s recent squad to play Portugal.
While a poll in the peninsula suggests that the Italian public would rather see Del Piero than Antonio Cassano in the squad, the final decision will be with Donadoni.
“Dear Roberto I ask you to think carefully about me,” Alex said on Sky Sport Italia.
“You have seen many times what I can do and if you need some good wine I can send it to you!”
Pinturricchio also passed comment on the Italian representatives in this term’s Champions League.
“I think that one of the three won’t make it through because these are games where anything can happen,” he stated.
“It depends on the atmosphere in the dressing rooms. They are all too tough to call, even Inter’s game, despite their first leg defeat could go either way.”
The Padova native concluded his interview by revealing which players in Europe at the moment impress him most.
“Today’s players are a bit different to me,” he maintained. “They are all so fast, physically strong and technically adept.
“Diego at Werder Bremen is very good, but so is Rafael Van Der Vaart and I would like to see him play in another League.
“I would love to have Karim Benzema’s guile as he is so sly and then cool in front of goal.
“Fernando Torres is very fast and can just take the ball and go so easily. However, at the moment I rate Emmanuel Adebayor higher as he is having a better season.”

Claudio Ranieri has discussed the injury crisis that he faces for Juventus’ trip to Reggina this weekend.
The Bianconeri have a golden opportunity to put pressure on second-placed Roma, who face Fiorentina, as they take on the struggling Calabrians.
However, Ranieri can’t call upon Gigi Buffon, David Trezeguet, Jonathan Zebina or the suspended Antonio Nocerino.
“Iaquinta has a back pain and Trezeguet has the ‘flu’, but hopefully they will be back for the derby,” the Juve boss explained.
“Buffon is doing well, but we just don’t want to put too much strain on him so that we can rule out a relapse and help his chances of playing for the Azzurri
“Zebina is recovering and we hope to have him in action for Tuesday, but he has some knee pain at the moment.
“Mohamed Sissoko could start. I am expecting to gradually integrate him and to see more of the good things he has shown so far.
“Without Iaquinta and Trezeguet, Alessandro Del Piero could lead the attack as he is on exceptional form and he could be with Raffaele Palladino.”
Having lost so many of his big guns, Ranieri is expecting a stern test at the Stadio Granillo.
“I don’t see this as a favourable fixture,” he stressed. “Against Inter and Udinese they did everything for a draw. I am expecting a tremendously difficult game.
“I lived in Calabria for eight years and I know how passionate they are there.
“We learned the lessons from the Cagliari game and we know that it’s the results which count.
“I want the same determination I saw against Udinese and Roma.”

Transfer Talk : Elmander
Juventus are ready to launch a summer transfer bid for Toulouse striker Johan Elmander, according to Tuttosport.
The Bianconeri seem certain to sign a centre-forward in the summer, and the favourite to move to Turin according to the press in Italy in recent weeks has been Palermo star Amauri.
However it now seems that Swedish hitman Elmander has overtaken Amauri as Juve’s number one transfer target.
The 26-year-old joined Toulouse from Brondby in 2006, and this season he has hit the back of the net 10 times in 25 appearances.
Juve sporting director Alessio Secco is ready to negotiate the French club’s demands of €29m in order to snap up the player.
However Juve face competition from a host of other clubs. Tottenham Hotspur, Paris-SG, Napoli and Fiorentina have all lodged enquiries, but perhaps only the English-outfit could meet his rather costly price tag.
Elmander is set to be on show at this summer’s European Championships for Sweden. He has scored 11 goals in 30 appearances for his country since making his debut in 2002.

Juventus defender Cristian Molinaro is revelling in the Old Lady’s impressive season and has set his sights on Azzurri selection.
The 24-year-old signed from youth club Salernitana in 2005, but was immediately loaned out to Siena where he impressed sufficiently to be brought back to Turin last summer.
Molinaro has made 18 full appearances for the Bianconeri this term and has thrived while the more experienced Jean-Alain Boumsong wilted under the pressure.
“Growing up I admired Paolo Maldini, but since I became a wing-back Gianluca Zambrotta has been my idol who I watch and try to learn from,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Now it’s my dream to get into the national side. I will give my all to be deemed worthy of that and at least if I don’t make it I will have no regrets.
“As for Juve, after our win over Roma we can easily come second and I can’t wait to play in the Champions League,” he concluded brashly.

Mauro Camoranesi is hoping that he won’t be on Juventus’ growing injury list for this weekend’s away game against Reggina.
The Old Lady are set to start without Azzurri stars Gigi Buffon and Vincenzo Iaquinta as they try and intensify the pressure on second-placed Roma.
Camoranesi has been struggling with injuries throughout the season, but he is planning to feature in Calabria.
“I had a tough week after the game against Udinese and I didn’t train,” he revealed.
“I carried some physical problems with me from the start of the season. I have always had to train in a way that ensures that I don’t aggravate these issues.
“However, I will have to be ok now and will be there for the derby and maybe for Saturday.
“I would rather play on the wing, but I will play in the centre if we have an emergency.”
Reggina have been beaten in four consecutive games, but Camoranesi isn’t taking the Stadio Granillo game lightly.
“Reggina are a tough team,” he claimed. “As the end of the season draws in, the teams battling against relegation get tougher to face.
“This is a very important moment in the season. We want direct qualification into the Champions League Group stages, then clearly we would be looking to win that next year.
“Until two months ago we were talking about the Scudetto, but now we are calm.
The objective is second place.”
It has been a hard week for Camoranesi, who faces a £30,000 fine for a career-ending tackle early in his career while playing in Argentina.

Vincenzo Iaquinta may join Gigi Buffon on the sidelines for Juventus’ trip to Reggio Calabria this weekend.
The former Udinese man has been suffering from back pain and went to see a physiotherapist during today’s training session at Vinovo.
Iaquinta will be given a final fitness test on Friday, but Claudio Ranieri is expected to name David Trezeguet and Alessandro Del Piero in attack against Reggina.
Trezeguet has been suffering from the ‘flu’ and was excused from the majority of today’s activities, but the French international is expected to be available.
Azzurri goalkeeper Buffon is already a major doubt for the journey to Calabria due to a back problem of his own.
The first-choice custodian has reported a significant improvement in his condition, but he is likely to lend the gloves to Emanuele Belardi in order to ensure his fitness for next week’s Turin derby.

The Bianconeri carried out another morning training session today. Gigi Buffon was regularly on the pitch and his recovery is going better than in the days after the match against Udinese, but his condition will have to be evaluated in the next few days. The same goes for Zebina, who trained on his own today due to a slight inflammation to a tendon insert in his knee. And finally, Iaquinta suffered mild back problems during today's session, but his condition causes no worry.

Juventus stopper Nicola Legrottaglie has hailed Alessandro Del Piero as the main man behind the Old Lady’s superb season.
The Bianconeri can legitimately set their sights on second place after pulling within a single point of Roma after defeating the Giallorossi last weekend.
Del Piero was the difference between the two sides in Turin and former Chievo man Legrottaglie believes that Juve’s captain is an inspirational force.
“He is an example for us,” Legrottaglie explained. “He’s an exceptional man on and off the pitch.
“I arrived here five years ago and I had a certain impression of him, but now I am seeing the man that I admired many years ago.”
Legrottaglie is enjoying a renaissance in Turin and it is now easy to forget that he was close to leaving Juve in the summer.
“I came into this season after three tough years of injuries, mistrust and misunderstandings,” he recalled.
“The nice thing now is that I’m playing at the level that allowed me to reach the national team and I am a regular for Juve.
“As a team we are going for second place, but we must keep looking over our shoulders. There’s a big difference between finishing second and third – a different training camp, longer holidays and bigger ambitions.”

Buffon to skip Reggina
Wednesday 20 February, 2008
Juventus will rest Azzurri goalkeeper Gigi Buffon for this weekend’s trip to Reggina.
Buffon has been struggling with a back problem for over a month and is still not 100 per cent, despite returning to the starting line-up for key games against Roma and Udinese.
The Juve medical team fear that the injury could become more serious if Buffon doesn’t rest his back for the next week and are keen to ensure that he is fit for the Turin derby next Wednesday.
The hope is that the former Parma man will also take the gloves for Week 26’s key clash against Fiorentina.
Buffon continues to work individually with goalkeeping Coach Giorgio Pellizzaro and fitness guru Riccardo Capanna.
He has also not been taking part in any of the five-a-side games at Vinovo, but is able to dive comfortably.
Emanuele Belardi will make his fourth start of the campaign at the Stadio Granillo and youth custodian Cristiano Novembre will sit on the bench.

Tranafer Talk : Palladino
North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur both want to sign Raffaele Palladino, but the player will begin negotiations to renew his contract at Juventus next week.
Palladino’s future in Turin has come under question in recent weeks after the player publicly complained about both his lack of first-team action and for having to play out of position.
The 23-year-old’s contract runs out in 2010, but according to Tuttosport, his agent Giuseppe Bozzo and the Juve hierarchy have arranged a meeting next week to begin discussions over a new contract.
In order to sign a fresh deal, Palladino is believed to have made a number of demands. He wants a significant pay increase and also wants a guarantee that he will be granted more minutes on the pitch.
If these demands are not met, then this could open up the possibility of a move to Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is well-known to be a huge admirer of Palladino, and he has tabled offers for the youngster in the past. Arsenal’s local rivals Spurs also like the Italy international and are preparing an offer of their own this summer.
A number of Italian clubs are also following Palladino’s situation carefully, with Udinese, Fiorentina and, in particular Napoli, the hometown of the player, said to be interested.

Juventus are hoping to replace transfer director Alessio Secco with Napoli’s Pierpaolo Marino, according to a number of reports in Italy.
Both Tuttosport and Il Mattino say that the Bianconeri hierarchy have reached the end of their tether with Secco following a long-line of calamitous transfer dealings.
Secco has become notorious for his expensive purchases of the likes of Jean-Alain Boumsong, Sergio Almiron and Tiago Mendes, who joined the club for a total fee of around €27m.
He has also been criticized for attempting to offload Giorgio Chiellini last summer to Manchester City, as well as for leaving Juve short of numbers in defence last month, after sending a number of players on loan without finding replacements.
It is expected that Secco will be relieved of his duties in the summer, and as his replacement Juventus would like to employ Napoli general manager Pierpaolo Marino.
Marino has been admired by Juve for quite sometime, and he did his reputation no harm last summer after a string of impressive signings for Napoli, including Marek Hamsik, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Walter Gargano.
Marino was at Napoli as sporting director during their Diego Maradona glory days of the 1980s.
His return to the club in 2004 has coincided with Napoli’s rise back to Serie A following years in the wilderness.
His impressive C.V also includes a spell at Udinese when the club boasted the likes of Oliver Bierhoff, Amoroso and Paulo Poggi in their line-up, finishing third in 1997/98, and in the top-six on another four occasions between 1996 and 2004.

Team Talk : Delle Alpi
Delle Alpi decision by April
This morning Juventus' MD Jean-Claude Blanc had a meeting with the Turin City Council's Fifth and Second Commissions to explain how the Delle Alpi Stadium project is developing. The Managing Director confirmed the Club's intention of going back to play in the facility which they purchased in 2003, emphasizing that Juventus' Board of Members will take the final decision about the stadium's future within the end of April.
There are two alternatives: «The first is to restore it, which would allow us to comply with the Pisanu law and with UEFA regulations. – Blanc explained – The facility's structure would remain the same, with 50,000 seats and maintaining the current distance between the stands and the pitch. The second hypothesis is building a new 40,000-seater stadium, a true Juventus home for the fans, a facility that would give lustre to the whole city and would be at the vanguard in Italy in terms of security, enjoyment of the games and visibility».
If the Stadium was to be restored, Juventus would play one more season at the Olimpico, whereas if the Delle Alpi was to be rebuilt from scratch, the new facility would be ready for the 2011/2012 season. «In terms of investment, obviously the second option is a lot more onerous – Blanc continued – and we will have to carefully evaluate it because we wouldn't want this project, even if it is part of a strategy, to damage the team's competitiveness, which is our primary objective at this time».

On the Reggina goal.

Used to come from three difficult years, between injuries, mistrust, misunderstanding. But the thing is that now I am again playing at those levels that allowed me to get to the National and Juventus. My companions have lived with me all the negative moments, the group looks at these things. When a player has an immense joy after having suffered all those who wish to share with you. You always think that, in a group, the secret is technical or tactical, on the other hand, at least fifty per cent, counts the human aspect. this team, humanity has tanta.Quell 'embrace after the goal is significant: it means that I left an impression of my way of being. The second place is a goal for Juve?
"The second place is a stated objective, the fact that I am a point from Rome is significant, we can not hide, but we must also look behind. Our goal is to get second, there is a big difference between second and third to get there . Programming withdrawal different, more holidays, clearer perspective. On the Champions League.
"It 'a fascinating competition. We aware to be close to this goal, we believe more and more. Tifo for Italy, because it is right that we are on the side of our nation. And then, go ahead, think of that' objective and maybe leave some 'by the league. So we will take advantage. "
The marketplace would like to stay at Juve for life?
"I hope that the company always has confidence in me, but if next year were to buy another defender, I am not interested. I have always done my own, I conquistarmi place in the field then, everything that the company will, it will be to improve this staff. I have two years of the contract, and I would have contentissimo remain here until the end of his career. only have to thank this society. "
Holidays in convening or National?
"I do not like to vacation in June I keep free to do something important. Book I do not, I like free, if I could take advantage of it. My phone number have it. 'A dream remains. Three years ago I lost to the European month, I was badly. play competition, as a European and a World would be the pride of my career. vivrei But it hurts not convening indeed tiferei even more my friends who go there. "
On Del Piero.
"For us it is an example, a boy exceptional outside the field and, consequently, also in the field. The shows always, the shows in spirit. So I arrived here five years ago and I had seen in a certain way, but after five years, now I see the first Del Piero, what admired many years ago. And it is not easy to return to that condition incredible. I watch as an example. I will be glad to say one day my children have played with a champion like him, and like others on this team. "
La Juve is becoming a nice team?
"We are becoming sympathetic. Simpatia is the right word, it is better to put it next to our team. 'Well that a fan tifare for a team that never not spring until the last minute and that can win matches impossible. Nice equal losers ? No, we are third and are thus viewed, but when we get to be first, but continue to maintain this spirit and this attitude, we will be well taken by the first in the standings. "
There was great irony about your chastity: ridiresti those things?
"Yes, ridirei the same things, the rifarei without problems. If you asked me something that has helped my life that I was out of the tunnel and see the light, why not say so? Could be an encouragement to many people who perhaps like me in some negative moments do not know how to get out. Why not help these people dicendolo? If we talk about negative things, now it's granted. But, if we talk about values, that over time do not seem to be more accepted, Christian values, family, it seems absurd that a talk. For me, this is not the case. more you talk about values, most people can incorporate them, particularly young people. I started with myself, the story my life, what happened to me. I do not care who interprets my words in the negative or ironic. me just help someone who may be in difficulty, help those who are depressed or in a difficult time. I do not regret what I said. footballer has been criticized in other environments, he said that did not interesting topics beyond football.
Tendangan bebas Del Piero mengoyak jala AS Roma sehingga Juventus menang 1-0, sedangkan Cassano jadi man of the match dalam derby della Lanterna, ketika Sampdoria menaklukkan Genoa.

Jonathan Zebina has returned to the Juventus fold and is a buoyant mood after the Old Lady’s triumph over his former side Roma.
The French defender has struggled to settle in Turin since arriving from the Eternal City in 2004 and fell out of favour when he was dismissed in Week 2 and had an altercation with a cameraman.
However, the 29-year-old was one of the star performers in Juve’s Saturday showdown success and seems much more settled under Claudio Ranieri.
“Saturday was a great night for us,” Zebina enthused in Tuttosport. “It was an important win in terms of League position and morale as we beat a great team in Roma.
“My relationship with Ranieri? At first our relationship was somewhat complicated and maybe we had a few misunderstandings, but things have changed and I want to be a protagonist.
“With all due respect to those who have been playing so far, I think I can command a regular starting place.”
Zebina is likely to start against Reggina this weekend at the Stadio Granillo for his seventh full appearance of the campaign

Camo counts the cost
Tuesday 19 February, 2008
Juventus winger Mauro Camoranesi has been hit by a hefty fine for a challenge he made 13 years ago.
The Azzurri star was playing for Alvarado against local rivals Aldosivi in August 1994 when he put in a horror tackle on Javier Pizzo.
The foul effectively ended Pizzo’s career as he was left with damage to his ligaments, meniscus and tendons.
After a lengthy legal process, judge Heber Amalfi has ordered Camoranesi to pay Pizzo around £30,000 in compensation for a tackle, which was “imprudent”.
Pizzo’s knee was reduced to around 39 per cent of its previous capacity and he was sidelined for three years. Upon returning to the game, he was only able to make another four appearances.
Camoranesi’s legal team have indicated that they will appeal the judgement.

Team Talk : Delle Alpi
Tuesday 19 February, 2008
Juventus have a big choice to make for the redevelopment of the Stadio Delle Alpi – they must decide between a restructuring and a complete rebuild.
The Bianconeri have purchased the stadium from Turin council for around £16m and will submit plans for their new home by the start of April.
Old Lady director Jean-Claude Blanc met with local authorities this morning to discuss the club’s options.
“I can’t discuss figures publicly because of the club’s position on the stock market,” he told journalists.
“But the cost of a total rebuild would be around five times greater than a restyling.
“We are weighing things up as well because with Italy having missed out on Euro 2012 there won’t be the offer of an interest-free loan.
“In any case we will make an important investment without endangering the fund for strengthening the squad.”
A restructuring would see the distance between the stands and the pitch reduced with a 50,000-capacity stadium ready for the 2009-2010 campaign.
A total rebuild would require a much longer waiting period and would lead to a 40,000-seater arena opening at the beginning of the 2011-2012 season.

Del Piero Hints At Faint Scudetto Hope After Roma Victory
Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero, who scored the winning goal in yesterday's match against Roma, talked about the team's situation and claimed he would not sign to see Juve finish in second place...
With yesterday's victory against Roma, Juventus are just one point away from the second-placed Giallorossi. Captain Alessandro Del Piero commented on the team's situation, and even hinted that they have not entirely given up on the Scudetto dream...
"I would not sign for second place," he claimed. "I don't see why we can't look ahead with confidence, as we have done so far; looking forward means both thinking about the next game against Reggina, and knowing that with a bad performance we could ruin the good things we did against Roma.
"Still, we should not push ourselves too far in our dreams, even though we don't want to have any regrets at the end of the season and feel like we missed a chance to do something great," Del Piero concluded.
Currently Juve are comfortably third in Serie A, twelve points away from leaders Inter and six points ahead of fourth-placed Fiorentina.

Claudio Ranieri dreamed of a match like this, to give a new boost to his Juventus. And the lads made his dream come true playing an excellent match against Roma; in terms of game-play, sure, but most of all in terms of determination and for how they sacrificed themselves for the team.
At the end of the game, the Manager couldn't avoid expressing his joy when speaking to Juventus Channel: «We needed a game like this. Del Piero expected Juve win
Alessandro Del Piero insists he was not surprised that Juventus defeated Roma and moved to within a point of second place.
“We were convinced that we would put in a great performance and that proved to be the case,” smiled the captain.
He scored the only goal of the game in Turin with a powerful free kick, a result that takes the Bianconeri right into the thick of the fight for a second automatic Champions League spot.
Coach Claudio Ranieri had said throughout the campaign that his team lacked the quality of the other big sides, but so far they are undefeated against the other giants.
“It is not true that we don’t have quality in midfield. It is true that we have played worse games than this, but over the course of a season it can happen to have highs and lows,” continued Del Piero.
“The important thing is to always pick up points, even when you aren’t performing at your best.
“Our match against Roma was excellent not only in terms of our football, but also our temperament.”

Juventus Coach Claudio Ranieri doesn’t expect Roma to be distracted by European engagements when they arrive in Turin tomorrow night.
The Giallorossi have to entertain Spanish champions Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday, but they first face a crunch match against third-placed Juventus.
While the Old Lady have the advantage of focusing solely on the League, Roman native Ranieri doesn’t expect that to be a factor.
“There’s no chance of Roma being distracted,” the former Chelsea boss claimed.
“If the game were after the Champions League clash then it would be possible they would have lost something, but not this way.
“Any side that takes on Juventus gives its best and this will be a classic fixture that is worth so much, even if it is just the fourth game of the second half of the season.”
The first meeting between the two sides finished 2-2 in Week 4 and Juve stole an equaliser at the death through Vincenzo Iaquinta.
“We were curious to know what we could do,” Ranieri recalled. “Everyone knew all about Roma, but all anyone knew of Juve was that we were fighting for something important.
“It was an important game where we grabbed a draw at the end.”
The wily Roman tactician was reluctant to discuss team selection, but revealed that he has no new selection problems.
“I’m not ruling anything out,” he said. “It’s not always best to make tactical changes, but I’m not ruling it out.
“David Trezeguet has recovered from the ‘flu’ and Mauro Camoranesi’s back problem is over, so we have options. We are in the same position as we were in Udine.”
Despite the hype and hysteria in Turin, Ranieri was keen to stress that his side are treating this game like any other.
“We have prepared for this game in the same way we have for all the others,” he explained.
“But Roma are Roma and they are a great side – it will be a good game.
“Our Scudetto is to give the best in every game. Roma are above us, so obviously we will try and catch them just as they are aiming for Inter.
“The important thing is that we are up the top. We are like explorers trying to go as far as possible.”
Juventus (probable): Buffon; Zebina, Legrottaglie, Chiellini, Molinaro; Camoranesi, Nocerino, Zanetti, Nedved; Trezeguet, Del Piero

Transfer Talk : Alberto Aquilani
Juventus have entered the race to sign Roma star Alberto Aquilani, according to Tuttosport.
Aquilani is widely viewed as one of Roma's up-and-coming symbols, with he and Daniele De Rossi the heirs-in-waiting to club captain and icon Francesco Totti.
However the 23-year-old has encountered some problems with his contract renewal at the Stadio Olimpico, and this has led to rumours that he could leave the club.
Inter were believed to be in pole position to sign Aquilani in the summer after the midfielder welcomed the interest from Roberto Mancini last week.
"Yes, I could see myself in the Nerazzurro midfield of Roberto Mancini. I was pleased to read about their interest," he told Il Messaggero.
Tuttosport now says that Juve will challenge Inter for Aquilani’s signature in the summer, and will try to outbid them if any tug-of-war takes place.
Juventus are well known to have made the purchase of a top-class centre midfielder their priority in the summer.
Werder Bremen’s Diego had been the favourite to make the move to Turin, but Juve have now reportedly pulled out of the deal on the orders of Coach Claudio Ranieri, who would like a player, such as Aquilani, who can attack and defend in equal measure.

Donadoni: No Special Treatment For Del Pier0
Azzurri boss Roberto Donadoni says that Alessandro Del Piero is just one of many players, when questioned if the Juve star will win a recall to the national team.
Del Piero
Del Piero has not played for his country since last September and many are starting to doubt that he will travel to Euro 2008 after he was left out of the squad who played Portugal last week.
"Del Piero is one of many players, in the sense that his future, not only in the national team, is tied to what he does and how he does it,” said Donadoni.
Juventus - Roma
This weekend in Serie A sees a big clash in Turin between Juventus and Roma. Who does Donadoni think will win?
"It will be a very balanced game,” he said.
“The technical capabilities and dynamism of the Giallorossi are there to see. On the other hand Juventus have an exceptional temperament and some determined champions. In short it will be a game pitting heart against technique.”

Iaquinta Denies Feud With Del Piero
Juventus forward Vincenzo Iaquinta explained that he has a very good rapport with team-mate Alessandro Del Piero, despite the two players' operating in the same position.
Iaquinta has no intention of creating trouble within the Bianconeri ranks, as he denied that there is any problem with Del Piero.
"The 'dualism' between me and Del Piero has never existed," the former Udinese player told 'Juventus Channel'. "Between us there is a nice rapport of friendship, just like with Trezeguet.
"There is no jealousy and I don't like controversies," he continued. "I must just be ready when I'm called-up."
However, Iaquinta has a dream for Saturday's encounter against Roma.
"Starting from the bench, coming in and scoring the decisive goal. That is my way to tell the coach that I'm here, otherwise I don't want anyone to think that Iaquinta is a player that whenever he starts from the bench he does well and nothing else.
"I did well also when I started from the first minute," concluded Iaquinta.

Lippi Talk
Former Juventus coach Marcello Lippi heaped praise on captain Alessandro Del Piero, whom he believes will play for many more years at the highest level.
Lippi was present for the commemorative ceremony in honour of Gianni Agnelli, where he commented on his former team and their performances.
"This Juve side is similar to my first Juve," declared the World Cup-winning coach. "It was the group of the 'older' players to push the others, who went after them very well, and it was Ranieri who was able to spirit.
"From a great anger, a great determination and desire, a return to winning ways was born," he added.
Lippi praised in particular Del Piero, who grew up under his wing.
He enthused, "He will continue playing for many more years and he will amaze you. He will stop much later than expected because he likes to work too much on the pitch and he does this meticulously."

Transfer Talk : Diego Capel
Juventus want to sign Sevilla starlet Diego Capel in the summer as a replacement for Pavel Nedved, according to Tuttosport.
The 19-year-old is one of Spain’s most promising young players, and at the weekend he scored his first goal in La Liga against Barcelona.
With Juve’s current left-midfielder Pavel Nedved now 35 and possibly in his last season at the club, it is clear that a replacement needs to be found.
Capel has a minimum-fee release clause in his contract of just €12m and this is said to be very tempting to the Bianconeri hierarchy.
Capel is a pacy and skilful left-winger, who is nicknamed ‘Jose-Antonio Reyes’ due to his similarity in play to the Atletico Madrid man.
Others say that his style more resembles that of Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs, when the Welshman was younger.
Capel could be a good choice for Juventus, not only on the financial side, but also on the technical side, as the team has been hugely criticised for a lack of flair and creativity this season.
