Milan-Juventus between present and past
It is a Juventus suspended between past and present which is thinking of Sunday’s match away to Milan, the fourth match day from the end of the championship.
The past brings to mind a sweet memory which dates back to four years ago. The 8th of May 2005 is the date of the last unforgettable victory by Juventus against Milan at the Meazza. They were the last matches of the 2004/05 championship and the bianconeri and the rossoneri got to the direct encounter with equal points. It was the extraordinary duo Del Piero-Trezeguet who decided the match and the tournament. A spectacular overhead kick by the captain and a perfect insertion by David to anticipate Dida and score by heading decided the match.
The present is the preparation of the match at the Meazza which is continuing in full force. Ranieri has back nearly all the players who were injured lately. Marchisio, Chiellini and Tiago will be available. Grygera and Legrottaglie also recovered from their problems. The players who will definitely not make it for the trip to Milan are Molinaro, who is still suffering from the effects of the abdominal pains which effected him last week and Knezevic who is still recovering from the ankle injury. Sissoko and Salihamidzic are obviously unavailable but are working hard to get back as soon as possible while Nedved and Mellberg are suspended.
Two days before the match, the team had their last morning session of the week. On Saturday, the eve of the match, the bianconeri will be busy in an afternoon training session at the end of which Ranieri will meet the press. The appointment is fixed for 16:45hrs at the Juventus Media Center in Vinovo and will be aired live on Juventus Channel.
