Chiellini: «I will play against Milan»
Chiellini: «I will play against Milan»
«The recovery programme foresees my return to working with the team in the coming days to be in full force by Tuesday or Wednesday and therefore on the field against Milan. If there are no further problems I will be at the San Siro». The words of Giorgio Chiellini are comforting. The defender is aiming for the big match against the rossoneri but is no underestimating Sunday’s match against Lecce. Giorgio will not be there but the bianconeri must aim for the full points: «A match like the one against Milan has always a special taste but it is only right that my team-mates concentrate on the match against Lecce because it is very important for us to end this championship well. The words of the proprietors were significant and reflect the thought of each and every one of us because we want to do well independently from the place in the table we will achieve. Surely, we will try to win back the second place but what interests us most is ending the season well».
Giorgio then tries to explain the reasons behind the difficulties encountered by Juventus in the last period: «I think there are a number of reasons: we hoped we could fight for the scudetto and reach the Coppa Italia final. Perhaps having missed our first objective after the matches against Chievo and Genoa, it was hard to get back to the mentality which has always accompanied us and perhaps against Lazio we paid the price for the negative period. Getting back is always difficult even because we saw our primary objectives vanish quite suddenly: first the Champions League, then the championship and then the Coppa Italia. However now we really want to get back, because we at Juventus are not used to not winning for a month. We want to react, for ourselves, for the supporters and for the club».
Chiellini’s last thought is dedicated to the supporters’ unhappiness: «It is normal that they show they’re disappointment but we are the first to be disappointed. We can promise the maximum effort to end the season well and reach the second place and to start off in a better way next season».
Chiellini then participated in Filo Diretto on Juventus Channel, the programme which connects the viewers with the Juventus champions. Many were the questions received via JuventusMember.com. On the Juventus community website one can view the video with all of Giorgio’s answers.

Giovinco: «We have to make-up against Lecce»
Juventus is preparing for the match against Lecce, a match in which the bianconeri must give a clear sign of improvement as compared to the last few matches and above all win the three points. It will not be an easy match, however: the Pugliesi are in a full struggle not to be relegated and need to move the table. Besides, in the first round they showed they definitely are not an easy team to beat, managing to create some difficulties for the bianconeri in the first half and going close to the equaliser at the end of the match. The match winner was scored by Amauri with a great header but before the Brazilian it was Sebastian Giovinco who showed his abilities. The Juventus young talent, who was in the starting line-up, not only left the Lecce defence mesmerized on a number of occasions thanks to his dribbling and feints, but also scored the opener by means of a magnificent free-kick which marked his first goal in the Serie A wearing the Juventus jersey – a great feeling, which he has since put behind him. Giovinco sees Sunday as an occasion to get back up and get over the difficult moment: «We must try to make-up after the last matches – he said on Juventus Channel – It will not be easy but we must do all we can. There will not be the public but this should not be an alibi. We must pretend that our supporters are close by. It is a particular moment but we will try to overcome it with a beautiful victory

No disqualified players for Sunday match
Juventus-Lecce will not have any suspended players. There are in fact no names of bianconeri or giallorossi in the list announced by the sport authorities. In compensation, Tiago will be back after the day suspension paid against Reggio Calabria for the red card shown against Inter. The Portuguese player is still however in the list of players who have reached the yellow card limit which also includes Mellberg. The Swede received his third yellow card of the season at the Granillo. The other names on the list are Amauri, Nedved, Chiellini and Grygera.

Ranieri: «The team is doing the best it can at the moment»
Claudio Rannieri commented the draw in Reggio Calabria: «In the first half-hour of the match we did not manage to find our rhythm even though we had the first real goal opportunity of the match. The match wasn’t a nice one but it was intense and sought till the very end». These are the first words of the Juventus coach who went on to analyze the team’s performance: «We are doing the best we can at the moment. When we don’t play with our usual intensity we suffer but it is not an easy moment because we started from the Champions League preliminaries and we have many players who played very much and others are recovering from muscular injuries and therefore we are not at the top condition».
A comment is made about a tackle by Cirillo on Del Piero in the area which should have been penalized by a penalty but Ranieri answered in this manner: «I do not like speaking of referees. From the bench I could even hear the sound of the impact on del Piero but the referee though differently and I do not want to comment these things».

Good news for Marchisio
Good news for Marchisio
After the first tests the muscle injury suffered during the match against Reggina does not seem to be serious. Cristian Molinaro operated in his hand. Back to training on Tuesday afternoon.
Today the bianconeri benefited from a day of rest in order to recover strength following the away match in Reggio Calabria. The team will get back to training tomorrow afternoon in preparation for the match against Lecce on schedule for Tuesday afternoon at the Olimpico at 15:00hrs.
In the morning Claudio Marchisio’s conditions were verified after he was forced to leave the field in the first half of the match at the Granillo due to a muscle injury. The tests showed a slight strain to the internal muscle close to the right gluten muscle. The midfielder will rest for a few days before undergoing further tests but the injury does not seem to be a serious one and he should be back quite soon.
Also today, Cristian Molinaro, was operated in his left hand in order to stabilize a small fracture by means of a metal insert. The operation, carried out by Professor Quaglia and his team under local anaesthetic was successful. The defender will have to wear protection for a few weeks but will be able to train regularly and can be available for the next match. The operation had been planned for quite some time.

Molinaro: «We are united, absolutely so»
Molinaro: «We are united, absolutely so»
In the last two seasons Christian Molinaro has been one of the most utilized players by Claudio Ranieri, even perhaps due to the fact that he always gives more then is asked of him on the field.
The defender commented the result against Reggina in this manner: «We are sorry about the fact that we did not manage to bring the three points home. We created many opportunities and were a bit unlucky but we could have done something more. Recently we are not managing to score. The team is giving its best even though it may not seem so from the outside».
There have been comments about whether the team is united or not: «We are united, absolutely so. It is obvious that we missed out on our objectives but the team is united and we are all working together. We wanted to show that we came back from the defeat in the Coppa Italia and we only obtained a draw but we are doing our best».
In recent matches Juventus have tried to equalize before attempting to win the matches:
«This year we had to deal with many injuries especially in the defence and this makes teams difficult. We work hard during the week and then during the match we sometimes make mistakes which cost us goals. It is more a matter of attention rather then technique».
So what went wrong?: «When results do not come the fault is of everybody. before we used to manage to hold on not conceding goals and then manage to score later in the match bringing the victory home and now we concede and have to make-up which is obviously more difficult. Nobody wants to lose and we do our best not to. It is up to us to show the supporters that we want to pay them back».

Zanetti: «It was an important goal»
Zanetti: «It was an important goal»
Cristiano Zanetti had been out of the field for a long time and his return against Reggina was perhaps one of the most positive points of the match, especially when one considers the goal scored.
«At first I found it a bit difficult because I did not have the right rhythm in my legs then the match rhythm fell and I managed to get into the match. It was an important goal because I scored on my return and won us a point».
Want went wrong?: «Having failed to reach our three main objectives affected us but we must realize that the second place can be a good result. It is however, not easy for players who had higher objectives in mind. Clearly a team built to win which finds itself out of the race for the titles finds it hard to find the stimuli necessary».

Iaquinta: «There is a bit of disappointment but we must now to play well in the last five matches»
Iaquinta: «There is a bit of disappointment but we must now to play well in the last five matches»
Vincenzo Iauinta, one of the best players in the match at the Granillo, commented the draw against Reggina: : «We lost precious points and we are disappointed because of this even because we had the right winning mentality». Amongst the reasons for this negative moment Iaquinta blames luck: «It is a period in which our opponents score with their first attempt and this even happened with that deviation in the Coppa Italia. Now we have to give anything in the last five matches».
The striker concluded with the words spoken by Ranieri during the last press conference with regards to the exhaustion of the players: «The group is united. We are a group of men who want to show much».

Saccani for Reggina-Juventus
Massimo Saccani will be the referee of Reggina-Juventus. The referee from Mantova will be refereeing Juventus in the championship for the 8th time in his career. Statistics show 4 Juventus victories, 2 draws and one defeat. This season Saccani refereed Juventus against Napoli in the away match at the San Paolo which the parteopei won 2-1 and during the home match against Fiorentina which saw the victory of the bianconeri by 1-0 thanks to the goal scored by Claudio Marchisio.
Saccani refreed 11 Reggina matches in the championship. One of these was the debut of Saccani in the Serie A on the 6th of February 2000 with the amaranto emerging as victors against Bologna at the Granillo by 1-0. Up to now with Saccani as referee Reggina won 5 times, drew once and lost 4 times the last defeat occurring this season in the home match against Milan by 2-1.
At the Granillo, Saccani will be assisted by Niccolai and Papi while Calvarese will be the fourth official.

Marchisio: «The second place would be something to feel proud of»
Marchisio: «The second place would be something to feel proud of»
The day after the elimination from the Coppa Italia disappointment is still strong but Juventus want to look ahead. Claudio Marchisio spoke to Juventus Channel and served as a witness to this will to get back: «The team tried to reach the final – the midfielder declared – just like we gave all against Chelsea and there is great disappointment because if many teams choose to snob the Coppa Italia we considered it an important trophy. Now we have six championship matches and we must maintain the second place. This would be something to be proud of for us».
The reaction must be immediate because it necessary to move in the table and to end the protests: «It is normal for the supporters to act in this manner. They share our same anguish. They know we gave all we could but it is normal that they expect more. We ourselves expect more and as from Sunday in Reggio we must aim at obtaining a good result in the most concrete manner».
Now it is important to regain concentration and tranquillity, putting all thoughts of the future aside notwithstanding the abundance of talk which surrounded the team lately: «We know that we shouldn’t really take note of the rumours because they only serve to disrupt the equilibrium and stop us from preparing well for the matches. We must only think of ending the championship in the best of manners. The commitment towards this will be as always and our supporters can rest their minds with regards to this».

Buffon: «Things didn’t work out the way we expected them to. We excuse ourselves with the supporters»
Buffon’s comments at the end of the match: «Things didn’t work out the way we expected them to and how the Juventus supporters deserved them to. In the last 20 days we wasted a season which up to then was carried out well. We cannot do anything else but excuse ourselves with our supporters who are as disappointed as us. The final would have been the first step towards more prestigious objectives. Now we must concentrate on the next six matches, trying to win them all to partly win back the faith of the people of Juventus who always responded to us».

Ranieri: «We want to reach the final»
Ranieri: «We want to reach the final»
The topics of the press conference were mainly two: the aftermath of Saturday’s match against Inter and the decisive match against Lazio which could open the doors to the Coppa Italia final.
Three days after the match against the nerazzurri there is still much to talk about, especially after the decision by the sport authorities to close the Olimpico’s doors to supporters during the match against Lecce on the 3rd of May. The coach expressed his thoughts: «I don’t think that this sanction is just. There must be reiteration and this is the first time that such things happened. The behaviour was wrong and unfortunately it is something that we Italians carry with us. I understand Balotelli and I am sorry for him. I repeat, this beahaviour should be stigmatized. I am for the chants in favour of the team but not for those “against” that do not help the men on the field. If I had to hear such chants again I would signal the captain to make them stop».
However, before the match without supporters against Lecce, about which we must wait for the outcome of the appeal made by the club, there is another match to be played at the Olimpico and one as important as the one on Saturday against Inter. Tomorrow night the bianconeri will be hosting Lazio in the return match of the semi-final of the Coppa Italia. The bianconeri must turn around the 2-1 defeat suffered in Rome on the 3rd of March. The mission is not an impossible one but it is made more difficult by the good moment which Lazio are going through: «We will be playing against a team which fully-charged – confirmed the coach – and which this year had some great performances. They came from 3 defeats ina row but won the derby and the match against Genoa managing to play the match which we failed to the week before. It will definitely be a very difficult and hard-fought match».
Apart from the condition of the rivals, Juventus will descend on the field determined to reach the objective. The Coppa Italia is a trophy which they want to win especially to reach the 10th title. «We are very much into this match. We really want to reach the final because this trophy is an objective we want to reach. There will not be Chiellini and I prefer Amauri to continue working. In order to decide about the line-up I must consider many factors including who has problems, who is more charged-up and who is fresher».

Marchionni: «We want the cup»
«Matches against Lazio are always very difficult and for this reason we will need great concentration to guide Juventus to the semi-final and after to its tenth trophy»
«I am happy to have scored in the first leg because a goal away is always important but we will nonetheless have to be very concentrated because Lazio is going through a good moment. We are coming from a draw against Inter, having shown that we are alive and that we want to qualify for the final ». This statement was made by Marco Marchionni, who on March 3rd scored the opener during the first leg of the semi-final at the Rome Olimpico in the match which Lazio won 2-1. His goal keeps Juventus’ hopes alive and on Wednesday the team will be trying to qualify for the final: «Matches against Lazio are always very difficult because bthey find ulterior stimuli against us. Even if there are six matches left and you can never tell what can happen, we only have the Coppa Italia left to win and we must concentrate on this commitment to be able to give Juventus its tenth title. We thought of the Coppa right from the start because we knew it would be a year full of commitments and we noted that if things did not go well with the championship or the Champions League, going ahead in the Coppa Italia we would have still had the occasion of winning something important».

Lazio are getting back on track...
Lazio are getting back on track...
Having archived the match against Inter, Juventus begins its hunt for the Coppa Italia final in an attempt to add the 10th national trophy to the cupboard.
In order to do this it is necessary to turn round the 2-1 defeat suffered against Lazio in the first leg of the semi-final played on the 3rd of March at the Rome Olimpico.
The biancocelesti, after an uncertain period during the second half of March, when they suffered three consecutive victories in the championship against Chievo (0-3 at home), Catania and Siena seem to have got back on track boosted by the resounding 4-2 victory in the Derby della Capitale.
The good moment of Delio Rossi’s team is confirmed even by the second consecutive victory obtained at the Marassi against Genoa thanks to a goal by Zarate. Juventus will need to win by 1-0 on Wednesday to go through to the final but great attention in the defence will be necessary: it is also true that in 4 out of the 5 matches played up to now in the Coppa Italia, Lazio always conceded a goal but the victory by 2-1 in the knock out match against Milan at the San Siro, the only one played away, shows that the team from Rome is a formation to fear on any field especially when one considers the 7 away victories obtained in the championship. Delio Rossi however, with all probability will have to do without Goran Pandev: the Macedonian, Lazio’s best striker in the Coppa Italia with 5 goals, injured himself during the match against Genoa and will miss the match.

Buffon: «Now down with the Coppa Italia»
The championship seems to be decided. The ten point margin from Inter remained the same even after the direct encounter with just 6 matches to go. The season, however, is far from over. Especially for those who still have objectives to reach which in the case of the bianconeri are more then one. If the second place means qualification to the Champions League without the need of preliminaries and an improvement on last year, the Coppa Italia would be an important trophy to add to the cupboard.
The Coppa Italia has regained the people’s interest thanks to the new formula after years in which it was considered as being of secondary importance. This is not only due to the fact that 2 of the semi-finalists are Juventus and Inter. On Wednesday and Thursday the names of the two teams in the final to meet in Rome in May will be known: Bianconeri and Lazio on one side and nerazzurri and Samp on the other.
Ranieri’s team on Wednesday must turn around the 2-1 defeat suffered away at the Rome Olimpico. The idea of adding the 10th Coppa Italia to the trophy cupboard is a stimulus for all, including Gigi Buffon: «There was a time when teams tried to avoid playing in this competition at all costs but now it has been given a new lustre and more attention is being given in order to win it. We want to win it even because we do not want to ruin months of work in 20 odd days. For this reason, we also want to finish the championship in the best of manners».
Juventus are approaching the match against Lazio after a draw against Inter which did not affect the table but which was definitely useful for the morale and even for self-esteem: «A draw could be ok when you consider the opponent – continued Buffon -. Surely we’re not jumping with joy because we know that we could only keep the title race open by winning, but the two matches against Inter showed that we are not inferior. Pity we paid for slight slips. With more attention especially in the last matches, we might have been speaking differently now».
The number one analyzed the point margin between the two rivals: «Our team is capable of competing with anyone on a do or die basis when the nervous level is at 120% but in a whole season certain negative periods can occur. Inter has a superior squad compared to ours and their technical baggage allowed them to come out even of those moments».
Yesterday’s match against the nerazzurri left also two topics which Buffon was asked to express his opinion about: Balotelli and the duel with Julio Cesar. «Balotelli is a youngster who has great capabilities and is also a nice person but I hope there is room for improvement character-wise. Having said this racist chants are bad no matter what. The comparisons to Julio Cesar I find ridiculous. He has been better then all the rest of us in the past few months and therefore I congratulate him but I don’t think that the accusations against me are correct because I do not think that to praise one you must criticize the other. If Julio Cesar is playing at this level it does not mean that I’m not playing well».

Grygera: «I felt I could score»
This time he missed his usual appointment by a hair. Zdenek Grygera who usually scores against Genoa – missed last week -, the defender gathered an even greater satisfaction against a more prestigious opponent: Inter.
The goal is a fundamental one bringing home a precious point and winning a special place in the hearts of the bianconeri supporters. «Today I felt I could score – he commented at the end of the match – I tries also in the first half and I missed by a bit. I am obviously happy with this goal which allowed us to draw even though it will not change the table. In the first half we played better while in the second we were punished for the first mistake we made but we were clever enough not to give up even with a man less».

Iaquinta: «We are satisfied with this draw»
After 4 consecutive goals – two against Roma, one against Chievo and another against Genoa-, Vincenzo Iaquinta did not manage to score the most expected goal: the one against Inter. Vincenzo tried hard but it was not easy held between two defenders of the calibre of Samuel and Cordoba.
No goals therefore, but the usual service to the team: «During the week we tried this type of play a lot, that is holding the defence high and trying to move upwards through me. We are however satisfied with this draw. We must now continue on this road until the end of the season starting from the match against Lazio on Wednesday».

Legrottaglie: «We must keep this spirit till the end»
The prestigious victory against Inter, awaited by the team and by the people did not happen, Grygera’s goal in injury time managed to avoid a defeat which would have hurt especially on morale level. A draw was obtained which showed t character of the team once again.
At the end of the match, Nicola Legrottaglie underlined this aspect apart from underling another aspect of the match which he didn’t like: Balotelli’s behaviour. «This is a draw which helps the morale. The spirit seen tonight should be fielded in all the remaining matches of the season. We still have the objective of scoring more points then last year and we therefore must continue and hope to achieve this. Balotelli? I didn’t like his behaviour on the field. He kicked twice with the game halted. I think he can become a great champion even if he refrains from such behaviour».

Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero insists that he isn't jealous of Inter despite the Nerazzurri's recent dominance of Serie A.
The Old Lady are 10 points shy of Jose Mourinho's men as they prepare for a direct confrontation in Turin.
Although it seems Inter are going to extend their winning run in Serie A, Del Piero remains proud of his side.
“I don't envy Inter at all,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I am proud of my years with the Bianconeri, including the last few which have been the most difficult.
“My contract is set to expire in 2010 but for the moment I just want to focus on the remaining weeks of the season as they are very important for Juve and myself.”
Del Piero also stressed that he holds no grudge against Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who left Juve for Inter after the Calciopoli scandal in 2006.
“I don't think there is anything to forgive him for,” Alex insisted.
“We went down to Serie B and he moved to another team. It was his choice. However, I don't know if it was him who made Inter the team they are now, I think it was more down to Massimo Moratti's money.”

Juventus President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli feels the Old Lady are playing for pride against Inter in the Derby d'Italia.
The Bianconeri trail the reigning champions by 10 points after slipping up against Genoa last weekend.
The Turin giants are preparing to host Inter on Saturday and must close the gap if they are to stay in the title battle.
“Beyond the points, we are playing for pride,” Cobolli Gigli explained. “The Scudetto is only possible from a mathematical point of view.
“It will be a very difficult game on Saturday, not least because we are missing several important players through suspension and injury.
“It's a shame that we dropped points against Chievo and Genoa. Claudio Ranieri has been very critical of himself and the players, but we just have to look forward.
“Second place is very important and we have to do everything we can to maintain it - we want the runners-up place more than Milan.”
Cobolli Gigli concluded the interview by reiterating the club's faith in Coach Ranieri.
“The words of Jean-Claude Blanc are the thoughts of everyone at the club. We believe in Claudio for the medium and long term.”

Manninger: «We want to win on Saturday»
«I don’t think I’ll be available on Saturday. I am training well but there is no hurry. The other goalkeepers are well and therefore it is not the case of taking risks». Alexander Manninger will not be amongst the players called-up for the match against Inter but is nonetheless a valid witness of the spirit with which the bianconeri are preparing for the big match: «We are behind them in the table – declared the goalkeeper on Juventus Channel – but the weight of the game does not change. We are similar in a level sense and managing to beat them would give us an extra charge for the end of the season. This season we hardly needed anything else but there were some bas matches which cost us a number of points. Our second place however is well deserved and we don’t want to lose it».
Besides the runner-up position there is still the Coppa Italia to play for and the second leg of the semi-final against Lazio is drawing near: «Yes, but before there is the match against Inter and it will be one to fight for. They are the strongest, they have been in the last few years but this does not mean that we can’t beat them. We want to give them as much trouble as possible until the end».
Manninger then took part on Filo Diretto, the Juventus Channel programme which puts the supporters in contact with the Juventus champions. Many were the questions sent through www.juventusmember.com The video with Alex’s answers is on-line on the Juventus community website.

Legrottaglie: «Seven games without conceding goals»
Legrottaglie: «Seven games without conceding goals»
If one were to ask a bianconero what was the greatest satisfaction of the 2007/08 season, most probably it would be an easy answer: the victory away to Inter. A precious victory which served as a launching pad for the grand finale which landed Juventus in the third place and a place in the Champions League preliminaries.
It was the 22nd March 2008, thirteen months ago. Today the conditions seem to be similar with Juventus forced to follow Inter from a distance but still determined not to give up. The words of Nicola Legrottaglie exclusive to Juventus Channel, sum up the best mission statement: «We know we are about to play a great match and we know how much it is worth. Last year, winning in n Milan was really helpful for us. Now we want to repeat this to win 3 prestigious points and reduce the margin back to 7 points».
Beating Inter may not be enough to re-open the title race but it would be an important present for the supporters and especially to bring an immediate end to this not so satisfactory period with regards to the results obtained. For the defence it is also an occasion to cancel the goals suffered against Chievo and Genoa. Legrottaglie is ready to launch the challenge for his mates in the defence: «For a great part of the season we were the least beaten and these six goals risk ruining all the good work we did. For this reason, we want to get back immediately to our level and try to concede no goals in these last 7 matches remaining».
A defence which is once again unbeatable would be fundamental for Juventus who still have important objectives to reach. The championship must be respected till the very end and mathematics has not yet awarded the scudetto to the nerazzurri. Besides, there is always the Coppa Italia to play for: «If we had to end as runners-up in the Serie A and win the cup it would surely have been a great season and nobody would be able to say the contrary. I think everybody would be happy. Therefore all that is left is for us to do it!»

Nedved: Retirement is final
Nedved: Retirement is final
Thursday 16 April, 2009
Juventus veteran Pavel Nedved is unwavering in his desire to retire in the summer.
The Czech international is still going strong at the age of 36, but he has resisted calls to play on.
“I won't be playing any more after this season, I will quit,” Nedved told Tuttosport.
“I won't go back on my decision. These will be my last matches and then I will say goodbye to football.
“I've had enough of calcio. It's time to make room for other things. My decision is definitive.
“I'm sorry but this is the way it is going to be and I won't even want to talk about football after that.”
Juve are being linked to a number of names this summer in an attempt to replace Nedved.

Iaq hails Juve attack
Iaq hails Juve attack
Thursday 16 April, 2009
Juventus striker Vincenzo Iaquinta believes the Bianconeri have the best attack in Serie A and Europe.
Iaquinta started the season as the club's fourth choice striker, but is now a regular in the side ahead of Alessandro Del Piero and David Trezeguet.
In the last month, Iaquinta has scored six times and over the season he even has a better goal to game ratio than Amauri, the team's topscorer.
When asked to describe how he feels at the moment,” Iaquinta replied: “Proud. Satisfied. But I felt like a regular even when I was on the bench.
“If I stayed quiet, it's because I knew that when you play you have to also show you actually deserve to.
“I know that when all four of our strikers are fit there is no better attack in Italy and Europe,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 29-year-old had come very close to being sold in the January transfer window and is happy that he is now considered untouchable.
“It's wonderful. I am really pleased that we no longer speak about my departure. I have three years left on my contract and if they propose an extension I will sign it,” he added.
When asked if he would remain at Juventus despite the feverish competition for places, Iaquinta said: “Yes. I like competition, the more there is the better.”
Iaquinta then turned his attention to this weekend's game against Italian champions and League leaders Inter, who are 10 points ahead of Juventus in Serie A.
“I have never scored against them,” Iaquinta admitted. “I have played them more than once with Udinese and only once with Juve in the Coppa Italia.
“It's tough against Julio Cesar. He is going through a rather graceful period. No one seems to be able to score against him.
“We will play for the three points,” he said. “I am sure that not even Jose Mourinho will come to Turin looking for a draw.
“They certainly have something more than us because they have taken points away from the provincial sides.
“We instead have wasted too many opportunities against the smaller teams,” he concluded. “That has been our ruin.”
Iaquinta has scored eight goals in just 11 starts for Juventus in Serie A this season and will almost certainly play either alongside Del Piero or Trezeguet this weekend.

Ferrara: Derby win not enough
Ferrara: Derby win not enough
Wednesday 15 April, 2009
Juventus youth Coach Ciro Ferrara has conceded that even a victory over Inter won't give the Old Lady a chance of winning the title.
The Bianconeri trail Inter by 10 points after losing to Genoa last weekend and have little chance of clawing back that advantage with just seven games remaining.
Although Juve have a great chance to take the first step this Saturday when they host rivals Inter in the Derby d'Italia, Ferrara remains realistic.
“Inter are too solid and unless they collapse it is going to be difficult for Juve to catch them up,” he told Tuttosport.
“And even when Inter slip up, Juve haven't been able to capitalise. Jose Mourinho's men can just keep their advantage.
“Saturday's game is eagerly anticipated and there's more than three points at stake. It could be a big morale boost for the Bianconeri, but it won't change anything.”

Sissoko: «I will be the usual Momo»
To see him back on the field we will have to wait till the beginning of the next season. In the meantime Momo Sissoko was at Vinovo to say hello to his team-mates.
35 days after the operation to the left foot and after some time spent in France – in Capbreton under the eyes of Professor Puig – the Franco-Mali player returned to Turin for a few days. He spoke of his conditions to Juventus Channel: «My foot is better and I am well. I can walk without crutches and hope to be on the field by the end of the season for the World Cup qualifiers with my national team».
Momo, therefore, continues with his recovery which is going well. However, it is not easy for him to see his mates on the field: «I have been out for more then a month. Life is like that but now what interests me is healing as best I can and be the usual Sissoko. Being out is never easy and I followed the progress of my team-mates. They are going through a particular moment but I am sure they will be back and have a great end to the season confirming the second place».

Buffon: Juve 'turned to sludge'
Tuesday 14 April, 2009
Gianluigi Buffon has admitted the Scudetto race is over even before Saturday’s head-to-head with Inter. “Juve just turned to sludge.”
The goalkeeper appeared on the Chiambretti Night programme that has also seen the likes of Jose Mourinho, Fabio Capello and Roberto Mancini in the spotlight.
“We at Juve just turned to sludge and were liquefied. Inter deserve everything they’ve got,” shrugged the shot-stopper.
The gap between the two teams has now opened up to 10 points and even with a victory on Saturday it would be a hard slog to catch the leaders.
Juventus had closed in on Inter, but with one point from two games against Chievo and Genoa, their chances came screeching to a halt.
“I admit we became very leaky at the back, things changed. But when you concede so many goals, the blame has to be shared around.
“We still want to win on Saturday to give our fans and us a moment of great joy. To finish second four or five points off the top is still better than 10 or 12 points back.”

Alessandro Del Piero To Be Benched Against Inter - Report
The legendary striker could be rested by his coach, according to the latest reports from Turin...
Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero could face the prospect of being benched for the Scudetto showdown with Inter this weekend.
La Gazzetta Dello Sport claims the Italian legend could be left out by coach Claudio Ranieri following this week's early training sessions. The reports suggests Vincenzo Iaquinta and David Trezeguet are favourites to start up front against Jose Mourinho's men. Del Piero lined up against Iago during this morning's mini match, leading to speculation that there is no place for him this weekend.
Amauri is unlikely to make the starting XI either as he is not in the best physical condition. Ranieri continued to put his men through their paces at Vinovo. Gianluigi Buffon decided to train separately from the rest, but he is not in any risk of missing out.
Mauro Camoranesi and Claudio Marchisio are both suspended for the Inter rumble. Tiago and Chritstian Poulsen are likely to take their places alongside Marco Marchionni and Pavel Nedved.
Juve are 10 points behind the league leaders heading into Saturday night's game. Anything less that a win will see their Scudetto hopes go up in smoke.

Julio Cesar fit for Juve
Monday 13 April, 2009
Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar looks set to appear against Juventus next weekend after returning to training ahead of schedule.
The 29-year-old Brazil international missed Saturday's game with Palermo after pulling an abductor muscle in his right leg the weekend beforehand.
Veteran goalkeeper Francesco Toldo stepped in for him and did little to comfort Jose Mourinho, conceding two avoidable goals.
Cesar arrived at training this morning, though, and took part in a game of five-a-side in which he made a series of fine acrobatic saves.
The news comes as a boost to Inter, who can move 13 points clear at the top of Serie A by beating Juventus this weekend.
Cesar has been one of Inter's best performers this season and is now considered the No 1 goalkeeper in the world.

Ranieri: We must bounce back
Ranieri: We must bounce back
Friday 10 April, 2009
Juventus boss Claudio Ranieri has called for a reaction from his side in Genoa after last weekend's draw with Chievo.
The Old Lady trail leaders Inter by nine points after unexpectedly drawing 3-3 with the lowly Flying Donkeys.
Ranieri's side face a testing trip to fourth-placed Genoa where they know there is no margin for error.
“It's not a time for words,” Ranieri insisted. “We need to show that we have got over the draw with Chievo.
“What matters is that we win and that the team plays well. We have been on good form before last week and I expect a response from the players.
“After every false step there is always a great reaction. We are facing a team who are looking for the Champions League next year - it will be a huge game.
“Our minimum objective is to finish second. It would be a shame to come third after a season spent on Inter's shoulder.
“I want to finish well and then we will look back and evaluate. We will keep chasing Inter but we should remember that we are still rebuilding after Serie B.”

Enrico Preziosi Warns Juventus: Genoa Are Capable Of Anything
Preziosi is confident that the Rossoblu can achieve an important result against the Bianconeri when they clash on Saturday in matchday 31.
Genoa president Enrico Preziosi does not believe that his side’s Champions League dream will come to an end this weekend when they face Juventus.
Preziosi feels that the Rossoblu are able to obtain a positive result against the Old Lady even though the latter are in need of points to continue their league title challenge.
"We have now acquired the conviction that we can play it until the end and I wouldn't underestimate the advantage of not feeling any particular pressure," declared the Grifoni's patron to Tuttosport.
"Whatever comes is well accepted in this season which is proceeding much better than we had expected. The next games will be fundamental, starting with the one against Juventus.
"It's a tough and exciting game, but to be lived without anxiety, against a team who never give up and who will want to cancel the draw against Chievo. However, this Genoa side are capable of anything."
Genoa are currently enjoying a two-point lead over Fiorentina and stand in fourth place with 54 points from 30 games played, with just eight league games left before the end of the season.

Jorge Andrade leaves Juve
Wednesday 8 April, 2009
After months of negotiations, Juventus have officially terminated the contract of Portuguese defender Jorge Andrade.
The stopper joined the Bianconeri in the summer of 2007 when they returned to Serie A.
But two serious injuries have prevented Andrade from making any contribution to the Old Lady cause.
Juve asked the Lega Calcio for permission to terminate the player's contract and received consent.
“Juventus and Andrade have reached an agreement to mutually resolve their professional relationship,” a statement on Juve's website reads.
“Therefore the player will be released from his contract and will be free to find another club.
“Juventus would like to wish him all the very best for his career at club and international level.”

Reports: Rift in Juve ranks
Reports: Rift in Juve ranks
Tuesday 7 April, 2009
All is not well in the Juventus camp as reports suggest that Claudio Ranieri and Alessandro Del Piero are at loggerheads.
The Old Lady slipped to a costly 3-3 draw against Chievo last weekend and now trail Inter by nine points in the Scudetto race.
Reports in the Corriere dello Sport state that Ranieri gave his squad a severe dressing down today, but Del Piero didn't turn up until after the Coach's speech.
It has been suggested that Alex was seething at being substituted at half-time against Chievo.
Ranieri has turned to Vincenzo Iaquinta and Sebastian Giovinco more regularly of late and a lack of first-team action may be vexing Del Piero.
Juventus have a testing trip to Genoa this weekend and cannot afford to fail, it remains to be seen whether Del Piero will be on the teamsheet.

New stadium: final phase of demolition begins
New stadium: final phase of demolition begins
Only the skeleton of the old Stadio Delle Alpi remains. On Friday 3rd April, in fact, the demolition of the cover of the ceiling of the structure began with the dismantling of the “sails” followed by the loosening of the steel support cables, the preparatory works, the dismantling and finally the segmenting of the cover. The next step is the demolition of the two wafts which will take place in the coming weeks. In May the construction site will be cleared from all the materials left by the demolition and finally in June, as per schedule, the construction works on the new stadium will commence.
In the past weeks, as a farewell to the old stadium all the team was involved in a photo session which we are publishing entirely in a photo gallery on JuventusMember.com. For more details on the demolition works please read the press release in the Media section.

Ranieri: «A double-faced Juventus»
Ranieri: «A double-faced Juventus»
The comments of Ranieri after the home 3-3 draw against Chievo: «Today’s Juventus was double-faced a bit like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde» said the coach at the end of the match.
«Chievo was very well organized and created problems for us on the counter-attack. It took us long to get into the match and after we did we created a great number of chances but we did not succeed to maintain the advantage till the 90th minute. It’s a pity that it ended the way it did. In the second half we managed to do what seemed to be most difficult that is turn round the score in our favour and go on 3-2. We were coming from 5 consecutive victories and we hoped to continue with the same pace after the break for international matches. It was not possible but football is like that. There are difficulties in every match. Today, Chievo had four shots on goal and scored three. We must accept the result and move on».

Giovinco: «We missed a chance to draw closer»
Giovinco: «We missed a chance to draw closer»
There were nine finals to win in order to try and achieve what seems to be very difficult. Unfortunately, the first did not end in the best of ways, ruined by Chievo which believed in it till the very end stealing a historical draw in Turin. The 3-3 end result interrupted the bianconeri’s run and the possibility of reducing the margin from Inter to 4 points while watching the match of the nerazzurri in Udine in greater tranquillity.
At the end of the match, the disappointment is mostly due to this, the missed chance to reduce the margin from the top of the table. Here is what Sebastian Giovinco thinks: «We missed a chance. We could have won and drawn closer. It’s a pity because we deserved to win apart from in the first half hour of the match when we found ourselves in some difficulty. For the rest of the match we created many chances. Now we must continue thinking of ourselves and not of Inter».

Iaquinta: «I hoped the goal would lead to victory»
The Iaquinta of 2009 is in World Cup mode. A goal scored on Wednesday with the national team but even more important another goal in bianconero. After the two goals scored against Roma, the attacker scored also against Chievo – just as he did in the first round -, but this time it wasn’t enough for the three points.
«I hoped that my goal would have led to our victory – declared Vincenzo at the end of the match – but we wasted a chance. Unfortunately many times we find it difficult at home against the small teams that come here and close up. Now it will be harder to win the scudetto but we remain in second place and continue to look ahead».

Camo blasts Juve
Camo blasts Juve
Monday 6 April, 2009
Outspoken Juventus midfielder Mauro Camoranesi has launched a scathing attack against his teammates following their failure to beat Chievo on Sunday.
The Bianconeri drew 3-3 with the relegation threatened Gialloblu and are now nine points adrift of League leaders Inter.
“I am sorry, we have all said the same thing in the dressing room,” Camoranesi said. “The game was over, we did well to win it in the final minutes.”
Juventus had twice gone behind but went 3-2 up after 79 minutes through in form striker Vincenzo Iaquinta.
However, Sergio Pellissier, the talismanic Chievo attacker, grabbed an equaliser and completed his hat-trick in stoppage time to make the game 3-3.
“It's not like us. This 3-3 really hurts. We have lost two really important points,” Camoranesi lamented.
“Once upon a time teams like Chievo came to Juventus to see how many goals they would concede. Today they come looking for victory.
“We have to do something. This is something Juventus are not used to,” the 32-year-old former Hellas Verona player concluded.
