Italy and Juventus star Gianluigi Buffon has spoken about the death of fellow goalkeeper Robert Enke, who took his own life on Tuesday.
The 31-year-old sympathises with the situation, explaining that depression can be a very powerful emotion and that people must not be fearful of seeking support.
"I went through a terrible time," admitted the shot-stopper, according to Calciomercato.
"You lose sense of yourself, it seems like nothing is rational. You must not be afraid to ask for help and be among the people who love you."
Buffon is currently training with the Italian national team ahead of their upcoming friendlies against the Netherlands and Sweden.
Enke's funeral will be held on Sunday following a short memorial service at the AWD-Arena, the stadium of club side Hannover 96.
