Trezeguet: We Have A Phenomenal Attack

Juventus marksman David Trezeguet believes that his side's strike-force is now truly exceptional...

This off-season Juventus added sought-after hitman Amauri from Palermo to the already potent attack of Vincenzo Iaquinta, Alessandro Del Piero and David Trezeguet. All four forwards are working well in pre-season and the media have been full of praise for what arguably is the best attack in Serie A. Trezeguet certainly echoes their opinion.

"It's true we have a great attack this year. I don't know if this is the strongest attack since I've been at Juventus," he said, "I've been here nine years and also played with strikers of the calibre of (Filippo) Inzaghi and (Zlatan) Ibrahimovic." He continued to rave about his counterparts, "...now we have a very interesting quartet and it is certainly the largest offensive department we've had in recent Juventus history."

Trezeguet had another successful Serie A season in 2007-08, scoring 20 goals and combining well with captain Alessandro Del Piero. The competition doesn't seem to worry the French attacker, who explained that he would be pleased if all four forwards at Juventus were in form this term.

The scorer of the golden goal at Euro 2000 also spoke about La Vecchia Signora's pre-season form and preparations for the Champions League: "We must improve...the build-up play versus Arsenal wasn't always smooth. But, everything (here in the Juventus camp) is normal."

The French player seems eager to be a part of an international challenge, possibly because he was left off French coach Raymond Domench's Euro 2008 squad.

"We are working and training very hard, we don't take into account the results of these friendlies, only the commitment to reaching the Champions League," he explained.

Juventus will face either Tampere or Artmedia in the Champions League qualifying round. The first leg is in Turin on August 13.
