‘New Adebayor’ To Replace Old Trezeguet
Young Monaco striker Frederic Nimani is being tipped by the French press to replace David Trezeguet at Juventus next summer.
The 19-year-old Nimani is rated as one of France’s most exciting young prospects, and he hit the headlines during the opening day of the new French championship when he scored the winner in Monaco’s 1-0 victory over Paris Saint Germain.
The 6ft 3in hitman has been labelled by some as the ‘new Emmanuel Adebayor’, due to his similarity in style to the former Monaco, and current Arsenal, striker.
There was speculation in the Italian media last week that Juventus were considering making a move for Nimani, and this has now been supported by the French press, who claim that a Bianconeri representative was in the crowd to watch the Ligue 1 match between Monaco and Nantes at the weekend, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Juventus are said to be attempting to bring Nimani to the Stadio Olimpico in time for the start of the 2009/10 season, and he will be a direct replacement for the ageing David Trezeguet, who will turn 31 in a couple of months.
Trezeguet has had a prolific eight years in Turin since arriving from Monaco in 2000, but it is widely believed that this will be his last year at the club.
