Trez maintains Ranieri silence
Tuesday 17 March, 2009
David Trezeguet confessed he has not yet spoken to Claudio Ranieri, as Juventus prepare a fine for his outburst.
The striker complained bitterly to French newspaper L’Equipe last week about his substitution in the final minutes of the 2-2 draw with Chelsea, prompting Ranieri to call him “a spoilt child.”
Trez was out of the squad for Saturday’s Serie A game against Bologna due to an injury, so today the two men worked together for the first time since that incident in training.
“Did I speak to Ranieri? No,” was his response when walking out of the session this evening.
Director Alessio Secco also attended the training ground, but did not hold court with Trezeguet either, though the player’s father and agent did sit in the stands.
It is reported the delay is so the club can come together and work out how much they will fine the Frenchman.
A meeting is said to be scheduled either tonight or in the morning with general manager Jean Claude Blanc.
The matter cannot be allowed to slide for too long, as Juve desperately need forwards for the trip to Roma.
Amauri is out for six weeks, so this leaves only Alessandro Del Piero, Vincenzo Iaquinta and possibly Sebastian Giovinco, who until now has been used as a wide midfielder.
