Player Talk : De Ceglie (2)

De Ceglie: It's not up to me
Thursday 7 February, 2008

Siena starlet Paolo De Ceglie insists he has no say over whether he stays at the Stadio Artemio Franchi or returns to co-owners Juventus this summer.

The 21-year-old has revealed himself to be one of Italian football’s rising stars after an impressive campaign in Tuscany.

While Juve opted to loan Sebastian Giovinco and Claudio Marchisio to Empoli, Siena were allowed to purchase 50 per cent of De Ceglie’s rights and now the Old Lady are said to be plotting a bid to buy back full control.

“I’m happy that the Bianconeri sent me to another Serie A side where I have the chance to play regularly,” De Ceglie told Tuttosport.

“However, I still have a long way to go on this road before I can think about other things.

“I am a footballer and I just want to do my best on the pitch and I’ll leave the talk of contracts and transfers to the directors, as it’s their job.”

It has been reported that Siena’s sporting director Manuel Gerolin will demand at least £3.5m to relinquish the Robur’s share in De Ceglie.
