Amauri sets sights on Coppa

Juventus striker Amauri believes his side can still finish the season on a high with victory in the Coppa Italia.

Chelsea knocked the Bianconeri out of the Champions League on Tuesday night and the Turin giants now have to put that disappointment behind them.

“We were very sorry for the elimination,” Amauri explained. “But we played a great game against Chelsea.

“We must not forget who we had in front us. Chelsea lost last year's Champions League Final on penalties and are top class.”

Juventus are still in the title race with 11 games remaining the season, but with Inter seven points clear at the top, success in the Coppa Italia appears more likely.

The Bianconeri are 2-1 down after the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final against Lazio, which took place last week.

They have a long time to wait until the second leg, which is scheduled for April 22, but Amauri believes Juventus can build up momentum between now and that fixture.

“The season is long,” he concluded. “There are still two and a half months of the season left and we are in contention in two competitions. We have no intention of giving up.”

Amauri and Juventus are back in action this weekend when they welcome relegation threatened Bologna to Turin.
