David Trezeguet feels experience “made the difference” between Juventus and Chelsea in the Champions League.

“The regret is we proved we could put Chelsea under pressure, but did not do it enough and find a way through them,” said the striker after last night’s 2-2 draw.

“Chelsea are very experienced and that was probably the main difference over the two legs.”

The 1-0 Stamford Bridge victory proved decisive in the end, as the Blues went through 3-2 on aggregate.

This was Juve’s first foray back into the competition since the Calciopoli scandal of 2006, which saw the club demoted and many stars sold off.

Trezeguet was one of those who remained and was in the starting XI last night in Turin, but was visibly irritated when he was replaced by Amauri.

“I was not happy, no, because we were 2-1 up and needed another goal with only a few minutes left,” confessed the Frenchman.

“I hoped to give my contribution over 180 minutes, I was not able to and that is the Coach’s decision. I respect his choices and will keep training to earn my place in the starting XI.”
