Ranieri To Decide Between Stankovic & Alonso

According to the Corriere dello Sport, Juventus are likely to sign either Dejan Stankovic or Xabi Alonso, with Claudio Ranieri having the final say over which player joins the club.

The Bianconeri are well known to have made a top class midfielder their summer priority, and the two names that have been most heavily linked with a move in the past few weeks are Inter’s Dejan Stankovic and Liverpool’s Xabi Alonso.

Juve had been in negotiations to sign both of these players, however over the past seven days or so, both transfers have hit a snag.
The club’s supporters are strongly against signing Stankovic, due to his link with Inter and his poor form last season, and launched a campaign against his purchase. This was rumoured to have led to a collapse of the transfer.

As for Alonso, the Spaniard is believed to have had second thoughts over the move, while there has also been a problem over the transfer fee.

The Corriere today says that both transfers are still on, but only one of the players will join Juve, and it will be up to coach Claudio Ranieri to make the final decision on who this is.
