Ferrara mengambil alih di dua laga sisa di musim lalu dan memenangkan 4 pertandingan yang dia pimpin. Dia mengganti formasi dan pemain dibuatnya fit dengan sangat sempurna. Ferrara membawakan sebuah mental yang baru kepada Juventus dan hasil yang didapat adalah saat membungkam Roma malam tadi.

"Ini adalah kemenangan yang hebat terutama dengan meraih 3 poin dan memperlihatkan kekuatan kami merupakan yang terpenting di sini di Roma. Kami ingin mengerti apa yang menjadi potensial di dalam diri kami dan saya rasa kami sudah melakukannya malam ini. Malam ini pastilah saya harus bergembira dan merasa puas walau tentu saja ada beberapa hal yang musti kami perbaiki. Kami bermain dengan kekuatan kami dan ini hal yang penting. Dan terutama bagi pemain yang bermain baik".

Pelatih juga menurunkan Marchisio daripada Camoranesi dari awal laga: "Perhatian kami adalah memenangkan pertandingan dan yang saya ketahui adalah Camoranesi masih berkutat dengan cedera lututnya dan saya lebih baik memutuskan untuk memainkannya di setengah jam terakhir".

Kondisi ini tentu saja membuat adanya peningkatan performa dan sedikit marah ketika sempat disamakan oleh De Rossi: "Kami harus marah ketika ada sesuatu yang tidak beres dan itu menyebabkan kami jatuh ke momen yang sulit. Saya sempat marah hari ini ketika gol yang bersarang di gawang Buffon akibat kelengahan kami. Para pemain pun bereaksi. Dibandingkan minggu lalu saya lihat kondisi kami lebih meningkat dan kami harus meningkatkan lagi performa kami saat ini. Saya sedikit khawatir dengan jeda internasional yang akan digelar sesaat lagi karena akan menyebabkan kami hanya punya waktu berlatih bersama dengan beberapa pemain yang tersedia saja dan saya hanya punya 2 hari saja untuk berlatih untuk menghadapi Lazio".

Akhirnya sang pelatih mengirimkan ucapan selamatnya kepada Pavel Nedved yang sedang berulang tahun hari ini: "Hei, selamat ulang tahun Pavel! Kamu sekarang menjadi lebih tua!".

Felipe Melo helped Juventus beat Roma at the Olimpico with a goal he has dedicated to his grandmother.

The Brazilian midfielder was instrumental in their win and has spoken out to dedicate the victory to his grandmother, who just recently died.

“This is proof that God exists,” confessed Melo.

“My grandmother died and I owe her a lot. She was called Manuelina and she was really important to me. My goal at the Olimpico was for her.

“This is a bad time for me, family wise, as my father is not well either.”

For Melo the game in Rome marked his official debut with Juventus and he is incredibly happy with the result and his performance.

“I really cared about this game. During the week I did all I could to be there even if I wasn’t 100 per cent fit. It was a great feeling.

“We played a great game as a group and I am glad I could help my teammates.

“We need to continue this way now. This Juve is very Brazilian for the way we touch the ball.

“The Scudetto is obviously our target but we realise it is going to be hard.”

Malam tadi merupakan pertandingan yang hebat dengan sedikit taktis di awal namun dengan rivalitas yang memuncak dan determinasi tinggi dan saling ingin mengklaim kemenangan. Ferrara memilih menggunakan formasi 4-3-1-2 dengan Diego sebagai penyuplai bola kepada 2 striker Iaquinta dan Amauri.

Di menit 1 Melo membantu Buffon untuk membuang bola lebih cepat dari area penalti. 2 menit berselang, Diego menendang bola dari luar kotak dan bola dibelokkan menjadi sepak pojok. menit ke 4 Marchisio mengumpan dan tepat dipelukan kiper. Menit 5 ada sepak pojok buat Roma namun bola melebar. 3 menit berselang Roma diuntungkan dengan sepak pojok lainnya setelah Mexes berlari dan menendang bola namun dapat dibelokkan bola hasil sepakkannya. Bek Juve membuat bola keluar lapangan. Semenit lagi, bola masuk ke area penalti namun Chiellini dapat membuangnya keluar.

Di menit 10 umpan silang Iaquinta diumpankan kepada Amauri namun tidak dapat disundul dengan baik. Semenit kemudian Cassetti menendang bola dari luar kotak namun bola sepakkannya terlalu lemah sehingga Buffon dapat menangkapnya degan mudah. Menit 20, Diego mengumpan bola ke area penalti Roma namun dapat disundul De Rossi keluar lapangan.

Di menit 21 ketika Iaquinta menerima bola di area penalti namun bola yang ditembakkan dihalau bek Roma dan menghasilkan sepak pojok. Dari umpan pojok bola dihalau kembali. Semenit kemudian Diego mendapat free kick: dia mengumpankannya, dan disambut Tiago namun kiper dapat menyelamatkan gawangnya dan menghasilkan sepak pojok.

Pemain Brazil ini mencetak gol perdananya di seri-A 3 menit berselang. Diego membawa bola dari sektor tengah, melewati 2 bek, dan masuk ke kotak penalti dan mencetak gol (1-0). 3 menit berselang, ada sepak pojok buat Juve: bola disambut Iaquinta namun kembali menghasilkan sepak pojok. Tiago kembali menembak bola namun bek Roma lagi-lagi menghalau bola.

Di menit 32 Roma mendapat free-kick: Pizzaro menembak dan bola hasilnya melenceng. 3 menit berselang De Rossi mengejutkan Juventus dengan bola yang menghentak para pemain Juve yang sedang lengah (1-1).

Juve bereaksi di menit 37 dari free-kick. Diego mengumpan bola ke area namun Riise menghalaunya. Semenit berselang free kick Diego di ikuti dengan sundulan Amauri dan dihalau kiper. Menit 40 free kick bagi Roma: bola diumpan ke area penalti namun dapat dihalau Melo menhasilkan sepak pojok. 3 menit berselang Juve hampir mencetak gol lagi: Amauri menendang bola dan menghantam tiang gawang setelah bermain apik dalam penyerangan.

Menit 45 Diego mengumpan ke area penalti untuk Amauri namun kiper mencegahnya dengan meninju bola. Semenit kemudian dua bek Juve terselip dan Totti hanya tinggal menghadap Buffon namun dapat dihalau Buffon dengan penyelamatan gemilangnya sesaat sebelum peluit babak 1 berakhir.

Babak kedua dimulai. Di menit 3 babak kedua Roma mendapat free kick: Bola dapat dihalau Iaquinta. Semenit kemudian, Melo menembak dari jarak 25 meter namun bola dapat dihalau. Menit ke 5, bola kembali di halau dari area penalti setelah Sergio menyelamatkan gawangnya dari Amauri. Sedetik kemudian, Diego masuk ke area penalti dan mengumpan ke Iaquinta namun Mexes dapat mengantisipasinya.

Menit 9 Amauri menerima bola di kotak penalti dan menembak bola namun Julio Cesar dapat mencegahnya menjadi gol. Dari sepak pojok, bola diraih Amauri yang menyundul bola terlalu tinggi. Menit 12 Iaquinta berlari dan masuk ke kotak penalti, di halau Burdisso yang menghantam bola dan menghasilkan sepak pojok. Semenit kemudian ada free-kick buat Juve: Diego umpankan bola ke kotak penalti dan bek Roma menghalaunya namun wasit menghentikan laga sementara karena Casetti tergeletak. 2 menit berselang, Iaquinta menyundul bola dan melebar tipis.

Camoranesi masuk menggantika Marchisio yang cedera di menit 17. 4 menit berselang, sebuah sundulan dari Amauri diselamatkan bola kiper Roma. Menit 23, Diego kembali menunjukkan talenta fenomenalnya. Pemain Brazil ini menerima bola dari Iaquinta, menipu Mexes dan menembak bola melewati kiper dan skor berubah 2-1! Sangat ajaib!

Menit 25 Diego mendribel bola melewati bek yang akhirnya dapat mengantisipasinya. 2 menit berselang Menez membuat degub jantung Juve berdetak kencang dimana bola sepakannya berhasil lolos namun tipis melebar. Menit 29 Legrotaglie masuk menggantikan De Ceglie. Cheillini pindah ke posisi sayap kiri. Semenit kemudian Juve dapat sepak pojok: Tiago menerima bola dan menembak bola namun dapat dihalau.

menit 32 Tiago menerima umpan dari Iaquinta namun tendangannya tidak cukup kuat. Semenit berselang, Totti menendang bola dan menerpa tiang gawang setelah Cannavaro membelokkan bola tersebut. Dari pojok De Rossi dirinya mencoba melewati Buffon dan melebar tinggi. Tendangan bebas Roma terlalu lurus ke arah Buffon.

menit 36, Chiellini hampir mencetak gol setelah bekerja sama dengan Diego, Amauri, Iaquinta dan Cheillini. 2 menit berselang, Diego menendang bola dari luar kotak penalti dan diselamatkan oleh kiper.

Menit 39 Poulsen masuk menggantikan Diego. Pemain Brazil ini disambut dengan tepuk tangan yang meriah saat dirinya meninggalkan lapangan. 2 menit berselang, Amauri dihentikan saat menyerang setelah bermain apik. Menez berusaha menendang bola namun melebar, Di menit 42. Menit 44 free-kick dari Roma setelah Amauri melanggar Pizzaro: Pizzarro mengambil tendangan bebas ini namun Cheillini dapat menghalaunya.

Menit 46 Poulsen menembak bola namun terlalu melebar dimana 2 menit berselang Melo merebut bola dan berlari dan menembak bola dan berhasil menceploskannya ke gawang, hasil akhir 3-1!
Juventus memainkan pertandingan yang hebat melawan tim yang berat di stadion yang benar-benar dikuasai pendukung Roma, sekali lagi instruksi Ferrara untuk membawa poin penuh dapat terlaksana.

Roma - Juventus terus menempel ketat pemimpin klasemen Inter Milan, setelah pada Minggu (22/2/2009) dinihari WIB, Alessandro Del Piero dkk tampil gemilang meremukkan AS Roma 4-1.

Stadion Olimpico Roma menjadi saksi tak berdayanya 'Serigala-serigala' ibukota yang tampil tanpa beberapa pemain inti mereka. Christian Panucci dkk dibuat kerepotan sepanjang laga dalam menahan serangan yang dilancarkan oleh 'Kuda Zebra' dari Turin.

Alhasil empat gol berhasil dicetak Juventus. Vicenzo Iaquinta memborong dua gol sementara gol-gol lainnya hasil sumbangan dari Olof Mellberg dan Pavel Nedved. Roma hanya mampu mencuri satu gol melalui Simone Loria.

Dengan hasil ini, pasukan Claudio Ranieri itu kokoh di urutan kedua klasemen dengan 62 angka, berbeda empat poin dengan Inter yang baru bertanding nanti malam melawan Reggina. Sementara skuad Luciano Spaletti masih tertahan di urutan keenam dengan poin 46 dari 29 kali bertanding.


Jalannya pertandingan
Sejak menit awal babak pertama dimulai, tak banyak peluang yang dihasilkan oleh kedua tim. Baru saat memasuki menit ke-33, sebuah kesempatan emas tercipta dan langsung berbuah gol bagi Juventus. Diawali pergerakan Sebastian Giovinco di sisi kiri pertahanan Roma, gelandang Italia itu mengirimkan umpan terobosan ke arah Iaquinta yang berada di dalam kotak penalti.

Dengan sekali sentuhan dan lewat kaki kanannya, Iaquinta melesakkan si kulit bundar ke pojok kiri gawang Roma tanpa mampu dijangkau oleh kiper Doni.

Enam menit kemudian usaha Roma untuk menyamakan kedudukan gagal setelah sepakan Mirko Vucinic di dalam kotak penalti membentur salah seorang bek Juventus dan hanya menghasilkan sepak pojok.

Gawang Roma kembali terancam di menit ke-41, kali ini lewat tendangan keras Giovonco dari luar kotak penalti yang masih jauh dari sasaran. Kegagalan tersebut menandani bertahannya skor 1-0 untuk keunggulan tim tamu saat memasuki jeda.

Babak kedua baru berjalan dua menit, Roma sukses menyamakan kedudukan. Berawal dari sepak pojok Jeremy Menez, bola diteruskan Loria dengan sepakan kaki kiri yang mengoyak jala Gianluigi Buffon.

Pada menit 54 Iaquinta untuk kedua kalinya mampu menjebol gawang Doni. Crossing Zdenek Grygera dari sayap kanan mampu ditanduk penyerang timnas Italia itu dan bola yang sempat memantul tanah tak mampu dicegah Doni untuk masuk ke dalam gawangnya.

Corner Menez kembali mengancam pertahanan Juventus di menit ke-57. Bola yang dilesatkan gelandang Prancis itu mengarah tepat ke gawang dan Grygera mampu membuang bola tersebut.

Di menit ke-58 sepakan keras Giovinco dari jarak 20 meter masih mengarah tepat di pelukan Doni. Begitu juga counter attack Juventus tiga menit berselang hampir membuat Roma makin tertinggal. John Arne Riise yang tepat berdiri di garis gawang dengan sigap menghalau bola hasil tendangan Alessandro Del Piero.

Mellberg mencetak gol ketiga Juventus di laga itu pada menit 68. Memaksimalkan tendangan sudut Del Piero , bola hasil tandukan bek Swedia itu bersarang di pojok kanan atas jala Doni.

Juventus berhasil mencetak gol keempatnya pada menit ke-69 lewat kaki Nedved. Tendangan voli eks pemain timnas Ceko itu dari jarak 25 meter tak mampu dicegah Doni untuk masuk ke dalam gawangnya dan bersarang di pojok kiri.

Julio Baptista memiliki peluang di menit ke-79. Sayang bagi striker Brasil itu, sepakan terukurnya dari luar kotak penalti yang membentur seorang bek tim tamu dengan susah payah mampu diamankan Buffon.

Di menit ke-87 tendangan keras Marco D'Alessandro mampu menembus pertahanan Juventus, tapi dengan sigap Buffon mampu men-tip bola ke luar lapangan. Dan hingga berakhirnya pertandingan, papan skor tetap menunjukkan angka 4-1 untuk kemenangan Juventus.

Catania Kalahkan Lazio
Dalam duel Catania versus Lazio yang dilangsungkan Sabtu (21/3/2009) malam WIB di Angelo Massimino, tuan rumah sukses memukul tamunya dengan skor tipis, 1-0. Gol kemenangan Il Mussi Volanti dicetak Michelle Paulocci pada menit ke-24.

Dengan hasil ini, Catania naik dua peringkat ke posisi 11 dengan 37 poin dari 29 kali pertandingan. Di lain pihak, Biancoceleste terpaku di tangga ke-8 dengan 41 angka.

After the draws of the Champions League, the Juventus general manager Jean-Claude Blanc was interviewed by journalists who judged the group of Juventus as quite easy. Blanc answered: : «There is never an easy group. They are always hard. It is true, we will not be playing against English teams but we will be playing against our friends Bayern Munich which Juve already met in this competition. Laurent Blanc’s Bordeaux is a tough team but even Maccabi is and we will play against them with all due respect». As a Frenchman he knows the French championship well. Blanc is asked about Bordeaux: «Lyon and Marseille made important investments while Bordeaux chose consistency and therefore they have a team which we know well and which will not be easy to beat».

Juventus sports director commented the draw of the group stage of the Champions League giving a clear picture of what can be difficulties against teams like Bayern Munich, Bordeaux and Maccabi Haifa.« Our group is a group that should not be taken lightly. Bayern Munich is a team we know well. We know they didn’t start of very wel. Bordeaux are the French champions and this year are still first apart from great players like Gourcouf, Chamakh and others. I don’t know much about Maccabi Haifa but we must surely be careful with them. On paper I think Milan’s group is on the same level as our swhile that of Inter is probably more difficult. I think we must play on gtwo legs against all teams even though starting off at home means we can organize the logistics of the away matches more».

During a live link on Juventus Channel following the draws of the Champions League group stage, the bianconeri’s coach Ciro Ferrara spoke of the draws and his first impressions.

«The first impression is that of a well balanced group with teams who are currently going through a different situation with Bayern who are currently going through a bad patch and Bordeaux who last year did very well. It is a tough group but it also depends on when we will be playing the matches. I do not know Maccabi well but I am sure they will try to give us a hard time».

Juventus will make their debut this season at home: «The first match will be played on 15th September at home against Bordeaux. Bordeaux are doing well at the moment and playing at home we will have to perform well».

Bayern Munich bring happy memories to Ferrara in his years as a footballer and so does Bordeaux coach Laurent Blanc: «Yes but memories are irrelevant. They are totally different teams. I will be meeting Blanc, an ex-team mate of mine with Napoli».

Juventus avoided the English and Spanish teams: «The greatest danger if you can call it so was meeting an English team or Spanish side but in my opinion it is a balanced group and a first seed is always a first seed».

Finally a comment about the condition of the French and German teams who started before: « The French and German team started before the Italians: The fact that they started before can affect the outcome. We have Roma on Sunday, then an international break and then another match in Rome and then we start and hopefully by then we would have a better physical condition. The motivation, however should be immediately high to qualify from the group».

Juventus President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli can’t wait to see Diego and Alessandro Del Piero together, but for one night only will say ‘Forza Milan.’

“I generally try to focus on my own issues, but if on Saturday Milan were to win the derby, I certainly wouldn’t be unhappy about that,” smiled the patron.

Inter already had a rough start with their opening weekend 1-1 draw with Bari, so defeat this weekend could leave them up to five points adrift of the leaders.

The Bianconeri also have a very difficult Week 2 test, as they travel to the Stadio Olimpico to face Roma.

“On Sunday we saw that the team played a good first half against Chievo, who put us under the cosh after the break,” said Cobolli Gigli of the 1-0 win.

“We had the right mentality and knew how to hold on under pressure. Now we must focus on this important clash with Roma.”

Diego impressed on his Serie A debut against Chievo, but Del Piero was in the stands with a bad back.

“It is certainly true that Diego has already proved he is a very important figure in this side, but Juve’s strength is in the collective and not the individuals.

“I personally can’t wait to see Diego and Del Piero play together.”

President Cobolli Gigli also confessed that rumours of advanced negotiations with Olympique Lyonnais for Fabio Grosso were true.

“There is some distance between demand and offer, but [director of sport Alessio] Secco and [general manager Jean-Claude] Blanc are making some calculations.

“It is possible there will be another signing, but we won’t know before the end of August

After Sergio Bernardo Almiron, another bianconero left Turin to move to Bari. It is young Spanish player Yago Silva Falque. The playmaker who joined last year from Barcellona, moved to Puglia on loan.

Born in 1990, Yago was one of the protagonists of the Primavera’s last season coached by Massimiliano Maddaloni. With his performances and his goals he contributed to the success in the Viareggio Cup. He often formed part of the senior squad – even in the last pres-season – but never made any official appearances.

Diego has won over the Juventus fans in a hard-fought victory over Chievo and feels he is approaching his real form.
“We knew it was going to be difficult and always will be, as that is the situation in Italy,” he said of the 1-0 result.

“Chievo are very organised and were tough to beat, but at the end of the day we took home three very important points.”

The Brazilian has made in total only three appearances for the club since completing his £20m move from Werder Bremen, as he has struggled with muscular problems.

Cannavaro: «I saw a good Juve especially during the first half»

Amongst the players who performed excellently in the match against Chievo is another “debutant”: Fabio Cannavaro. The captain of the azzurri, returned to Juventus after three years at Real Madrid and immediately fit in with the plans of Ciro Ferrara. The defence however also saw Buffon and Chiellini in excellent condition.

Starting from Cannavaro, here are his comments:«We managed to hold the 1-0 and win the match but we must be more cruel and score more. I saw a good Juve especially during the first half with a great Diego at the disposal of his team mates. The second half saw us be a bit too long but we managed to win and that’s what is important».

The Cannavaro who played against Chievo seems to never have left the bianconeri even though he himself declared it would not be easy to get back to the levels reached in 2006. « It is hard to reach the levels of 2006 but i will do my best to be useful to the team. It was nice to come back and find the hunger for victory. It is nice to have fit into this defence. It is thanks to my team mates».

A final consideration by the defence stalwart: «We tried to keep the ball in their area. It was not easy and sometimes we risked in trying to do so».

Buffon left the field with a clean sheet (his third consecutive one in an official match since Ferrara took over as coach). «The most important thing that we did not concede goals especially after the many conceded last year because it increases self-esteem. The defence played well never giving Chievo room for initiative. Even Fabio (Cannavaro) did a few good things which stopped them from creating problems».

The second half, especially in the dying minutes saw Chievo creating a few worries to the bianconeri’s defence: «In the last minutes I think we were a bit scared but we managed to hold on to the result. Today the 3 points were important. I think we have the honesty to say that we had a good first half but the second half could have been better and this means that we still have room for improvement. At the end of the day it is the defenders who help the goalkeeper realize how happy they are».

There is room for improvement according to Super Gigi: « We must improve the team work even in the defence because in the second half we were a bit too high and in such situations a rebound can create problems».

Finally a word by Chiellini: «We are happy with this victory which allows us to start-off on the right foot in this championship. In the first half we played really well while in the second we were a bit too long and risked more but we managed to close every space».

On top of all this he was decisive. It is in fact his goal that allowed the bianconeri to have the better over Chievo in the first match of the season. A header following a free-kick by Diego which allowed the team to win 3 important points and «most of all - stated the Juve striker – to start-off on the right foot». Even in a victory, things should be analyzed pointing out the positive and the negative things and Vincenzo did point out one thing which must be improved: «We must be capable of ending the match». Just like in 2007, the first match will be refereed by Gava

Two years later it will once again be Gabriele Gava from Conegliano Veneto to referee Juventus in their first match of the championship. The referee from Veneto inaugurated the bainconeri’s return to the Serie A in the 5-1 home win against Livorno on the 25th August 2007.

This was the first of three encounters. The other two, both ended with the same result of 2-2: in Parma during the 2007/08 season and a few months ago during the home match against Lecce.

At the Olimpico, on Sunday night, Gava will be assisted by Simone Ghiandai and Michele Giordano, the same persons who accompanied him in the match against the Salentini. The fourth official will be Massimiliano Saccani.

The Argentine midfielder who arrived in Turin at the beginning of 2007/08 season, moved to at Monaco, having been transferred in January. The year after he was loaned to Fiorentina, returning at the end of the season. Now after having spent the pres-season with Juventus has been transferred to the Puglia region.

Italy boss Marcello Lippi revealed he may consider taking Juventus striker Amauri to the World Cup but there will be no space for Thiago Motta.

Amauri has long been linked to La Nazionale while Motta offered his services to Lippi in the past six months.

“It’s great that there are players such as Motta so adamant to play for our team,” confessed Lippi.

“But I don’t want a team made with players like him because I don’t feel it is right.

“For Amauri though it is a bit different since we have been talking about it for a year now. We will see whether I will call him or not.”

Regarding the row between him and Jose Mourinho, Lippi didn’t want to add anything else to what he already said.

“There is not point, I won’t say anything. I am not talking about Mourinho and what he says,” he explained.

“With La Nazionale we are working to try and return to the best level, we have given a chance to bring in several interesting youngsters.

Apart from the ball, Alessandro Del Piero wants to kick away any superstition. Having signed his contract on Friday 17th July (the equivalent of Friday the 13th in Italy), th captain is also ready to start his 17th season with the bianconeri, as a protagonist on the field against Chievo Verona on Sunday night. To do so he must still overcome a few small hurdles that stopped him from taking part in the last tests.

The captain wants to be there and score the goals which went missing in the whole of the pre-season («I kept them for when it counts») and which he often scored on the first match day, especially between 2000 and 2003 when he scored 7 consecutive times. He would like to increase this number, to keep up with the 9 scored by Trezeguet and draw closer to Bettega’s 13.

Del Piero can’t wait to get on the field just like Juve, ready to attempt a prestigious victory which at Juventus has been missing for too long. While awating to lead the team on the field, the number 10, did so through words during a press conference. Many were the themes touched on, starting from his physical condition.

He is recovering in view of Chievo: «I am better. The recovery is proceeding well and I am aiming at being on the field on Sunday. Tomorrow and Saturday are important days. I should be 100% fit and I hope to be available. I suffered an inflammation in my back which left in pain».

There is an important precedent: «I was in doubt even before the victory against Siena last season? Then, I hope to score twice again. We want to start-off well with a victory. It will be the field to judge our strength even though our ambitions are clear».

Attention to Chievo. «Last year they hurt us at home and therefore we can have some difficulties but difficulties are there to be overcome. Our adventure must be exciting and fantastic right from the start».

Bianconeri ambitions: «The new signings have fit in well but I had no doubt about this. Here the environment has never been a problem. There has always been enthusiasm and I will to win which we now have to field».

Ahead without any proclamations: «Inside us there is a will to win and the ambition to do so. We say so in a whisper without particular proclamations. For this reason, we must be committed day in day out, do one thing at a time and do it well. This is the road which has always given me satisfaction».

Lippi vs Mourinho: «I hope that Lippi’s forecast, which sees us as Scudetto winners, is right, just like last year when he predicted Inter. When he did so I was not offended. For me Lippi did not say anything outstanding but I do not know if there are other things between him and Mourinho».

Mourinho’s tactics: «Through cleverness, shrewdness or lack of respect, Mourinho is good at putting pressure on the other teams and leaving his team tranquil. I do not know which of these three he uses. We only make sure not to be hit by the culture of suspicion which is thrown in rather carelessly. This is an important tactic, one of his qualities. We must not be attracted».

It is time to win. «My will is always to improve, evaluate the potential and integrate everything within the team. I am convinced that I have adapted to the changes which will improve my performances. The year in Serie B was a nice one. We then did well in the two successive ones but I need more then that. I have always thought of when I would get back to winning with Juventus and now I do not want to think anymore but simply win».

No wasted goals: «It is the first time that I didn’t score a single goal during the pre-season. It must mean that I kept them all for when it counts and did not waste them».

Momo to return soon: «I hope Sissoko is back as soon as possible but I think that this team is structured in such a way that it can endure his absence just like that of any other player».

Good luck Cristiano: «Zanetti’s departure surprised even me. I hope he does well in Florence in 36 matches…He is a person of great quality and here he did great things when he was well. If this choice was made it is because was good for both parties, him and the club, and this is what is most important».

Poulsen is a guarantee: «Poulsen is a guarantee. He continued to train well and if Ferrara decides to field him he will do his part».

Wage ceilings. It is not the problem. «When Berlusconi spoke of wage ceilings I don’t know if he was referring only to Milan. I think Cellino is right. The player wages should be according to the objectives. Juventus in these last few years was always self-sufficient, went through a dramatic relegation and is still here aiming to win. Things can be done at other levels or for teams with different objectives, like Cagliari for example. However, in Italian football there are other problems which should have been solved years ago».

Scudetto or Champions League?: «We must aim at doing well in both of thye main competitions. They are different in mental approach and tension. I do not see why we should focus on one of them. We must enter the field to do well in each match, Coppa Italia included. It is our duty and should be our pleasure».

Ferrara is Ferrara: «Ciro has his own way of interpreting training and managing the group. Defining differences with other coaches is premature».

To win is to enjoy it: «One enjoys himself when he wins. I never changed in this aspect. I still have the will to play and win».

Towards South Africa 2010: «I will await Lippi’s reply for the next World Cup. I still want to do well with Juventus because in this manner I will have the possibility to wearing the azzurro jersey again».

From World Cup to World Cup: «At the moment I am following the athletics world championships. They are fantastic just like the swimming ones were. I liked Pellegrini but even Bolt is exceptional».

Juventus ace Diego is determined to help his side lift the Scudetto this season, and he will not let anything stop him.

The Bianconeri slipped up against Milan during the Berlusconi Trophy on Monday night, losing on penalties following a 1-1 draw. Diego scored during the game and he is maintaining his enthusiasm, despite the result.

"Juventus are always among the favourites, but there are other teams," Diego told Sky Sport Italia.

"I don't care about Inter or Milan. We have to think about playing well."

Diego showed touches of magic during the game against the Rossoneri, and he was satisfied with his performance on the night.

"Playing in a stadium like the San Siro always gives you great feelings. I scored the goal and I thought we could win, but I am happy all the same," concluded the playmaker.

The Bianconeri hitman doesn’t feel that last night’s defeat is a true reflection of what’s to come for his club.

Milan defeated Juventus in the Trofeo Berlusconi on penalties last night after a hard-fought 1-1 draw. Diego and Alexandre Pato grabbed the goals for their respective sides, with Yago Falque missing the only spot kick in the shoot-out for the Bianconeri.

The victory was the Rossoneri’s first of the pre-season; however, despite the somewhat unexpected outcome, Amauri is still extremely positive about Juve's upcoming campaign.

“It was a beautiful match, but we must remember that it was only decided on penalties,” the striker stated to Sky Sports at the completion of the contest.

“We lost this game, but our overall impression of ourselves is that we are much stronger than last season.

“[Felipe] Melo provides us with more quality and creativity to our game, and along with [Mohamed] Sissoko, he will provide us with strength.

“We hope that this season is even more beautiful than the last one was, and we are very confident that this will be the case.”

The Brazilian-born striker went on to make one final comment regarding his international future, which is expected to be decided in the coming months:

“If all goes well, I will become an Italian citizen in September, which will finally bring this soap opera to an end.”
