It’s his tenth season as a bianconero. No foreigner has ever done better in the history of Juventus. Even before starting to get down to the real thing, David Trezeguet left an important mark, nearly as important as one of his 161 goals.

The Frenchman wants to increase this number in order to continue contributing to new successes by the team. «I am happy to have stayed here at Juventus. I heard the words of John Elkann at Villar Perosa. They made me really happy and now I hope to re-pay him with a season as protagonist. I have become the foreigner to have stayed here the longest and I can draw closer to people like Boniperti, Bettega, Sivori, phenomenal players that wrote the history of this club. I will always thank Juventus for these ten years».

After so many goals and successes, Trezeguet wants to celebrate more and the chances are good. After just over a month of work, the striker sees the team as being in good shape: «The club made great efforts to make this group even more competitive. Cannavaro, Felipe Melo and Diego joined us, players of a high level which brought great enthusiasm and even the supporters noticed. Now it is up to us to do our part and show on the field that we are competitive. We do not have a particular objective. We know we can fight on every front even though we know it will not be easy».

Juventus is as competitive as ever, not only on the field but also on the bench. The arrival of Ciro Ferrara is an advantage according to Trezeguet: «I know him since he was a player, my team mate. I liked the way he spoke as from the first day. The words were simple and clearly like I like them to be. It seems to me that he is following in the footsteps of Lippi, with whom he worked even during world cup. He knows the environment and transmits such a will to do well, showing the for Juve years without winning is really hard».

To return to success in Italy, there is Inter to beat. «They are still the team to beat. They still have an extensive squad and they won the last championship. In the Super Cup, Lazio showed that they have weak points and gave hope to everyone. I am convinced we have drawn closer».
