Gianluigi Buffon

Gigi's Juve report card
Monday 21 April, 2008

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has given the Bianconeri eight and a half out of 10 for their performance this season.

The Old Lady are currently third in the League table, 12 points ahead of fifth-placed Milan and five behind Roma and a top-two finish on their return to Serie A.

Juve were relegated for their role in Calciopoli and lost several star players as well as suffering financially, adding to Buffon's satisfaction at the Bianconeri's current position.

“I'd give us eight and a half out of 10. Not one of us expected to arrive in the Champions League so soon and in such a decisive manner.

“I am also perplexed, as, I am sure, everybody else is,” explained the Italian international 'keeper.

The 30-year-old shot stopper is also holding on to his dream of catching Roma, but admits it is now probably too late to grab a second spot from the Giallorossi.

“To hope doesn't cost anything, but the distance makes me think that we'll probably end up in third,” he concluded.

There are still 12 points up for grabs from the final four games of the Serie A season, but Buffon and Co face a tough task if they are to remove Roma's five-point advantage
