Sebastian Giovinco

Reports: Arsenal Target Giovinco To Sign New Contract

According to reports in Italy, Arsenal’s hopes of signing Sebastian Giovinco in January are set to be quashed as the youngster will finally sign a new contract with Juventus either today or tomorrow.

Giovinco is rated as one of Europe’s most explosive young talents, with many tipping the 21-year-old as a future superstar.

However, the attacking midfielder’s future at Juventus has been called into question recently due to problems over the renewal of his contract.

The major sticking point has been Juve’s refusal to meet Giovinco’s €1m a year salary demands, but there has also been concerns over a lack of first team football.

The fantasista has been linked with Arsenal almost all summer, and yesterday there were widespread reports in the English and Italian press that Arsene Wenger, a huge admirer of the player, was set to table a January transfer bid.

This prompted a response from Giovinco’s agent yesterday evening, in which he insisted there had been no contact from Arsenal, and reports in Italy this morning now claim that all the speculation will soon be put to bed as Giovinco will sign a new contract with Juventus either today or tomorrow.

Indeed it is claimed that the final signature on a new deal would have been inked a few days ago had Giovinco’s representative Claudio Pasqualin not been involved in a bicycle accident.

Juventus fans will no doubt be eagerly awaiting for official confirmation of Giovinco’s new contract.
