On-loan Empoli starlet Sebastian Giovinco is highly likely to play for Juventus next season, after Alessio Secco came round to the idea of keeping him.
Giovinco is widely regarded as one of the most best young talents in the Italian peninsula, and a certain future Azzurri international.
The 21-year-old fantasista is currently owned by Juventus, but he has spent the season on-loan at Empoli, where he has scored five goals in 29 appearances.
There has been much speculation in the Italian media over the past few weeks over where Giovinco’s future lies next season.
Reportedly Juventus sporting director Alessio Secco wanted to sell Giovinco, along with fellow youngsters Claudio Marchisio and Paolo De Ceglie, and was only stopped in his tracks when Coach Claudio Ranieri vetoed the deal.
It now seems that Secco has come round to the idea of keeping Giovinco, and the player’s agent Claudio Pasqualin has confirmed that he has held positive talks with the transfer director.
"It is still not official, but Juventus are moving in the direction for Giovinco to return to play for them next season,” Pasqualin told Radio Kiss Kiss.
Giovinco is the current star of the Italy Under-21 national team, and there have even been calls for him to earn a late call-up for the senior side at Euro 2008.
