Gianluigi Buffon Applauds Juventus Squad For Napoli Win
Juventus shot-stopper Buffon has praised his team-mates for a job well done in advancing to the next round of the Coppa Italia...
Juventus were able to overcome a spirited Napoli side in Turin yesterday, meaning they advance to the Coppa Italia semi-finals to play Lazio.
The match came down to a penalty shoot-out after scoreless draw, which the Bianconeri won 4-3. Goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon did not take part in the match, but congratulated his team-mates for their fine effort at the Stadio Olimpico.
"My companions did very well, winning a tough battle with Napoli," he told ANSA.
Since I arrived here, I have not won this trophy and I would like to do it this year. Special mention must go to [goalkeeper Alexander Manninger], he was decisive on the penalty by [Napoli's Ezequiel] Lavezzi."
Buffon was not involved in the Coppa tie because he had a bout of the flu, but he is expected to be back in the line-up on Sunday for Juventus' Serie A match in Catania.
