Giovinco Content With Azzurrini Draw, Comments On Juventus Future
The Juventus starlet was more than content to have played from the start tonight, despite his country's 1-1 draw.
Italy took on the hosts of the 2011 European championships in Trieste earlier tonight, in a match that ended all square at 1-1.
Robert Acquafresca did the damage from the spot early on for the Azzurrini, whilst Wernbloom’s chipped effort midway through the second, was enough for the visitors to restore parity.
One of the Italians’ most impressive performers on the night was Juventus’ Sebastian Giovinco, who despite not being in the best form at present due to his limited opportunities in Serie A, managed to hold his own up front in this match.
“We suffered because of their physicality, but besides that we played very well,” Giovinco stated in an interview with Rai following the match.
“For me it was important to get some gas in my legs, as I’m not playing all that much at Juventus.
“I felt comfortable playing alongside Acquafresca and [Ignazio] Abate, as was the case with the remainder of the team too,” he added.
The Juve starlet went on to make some comments regarding the latest rumours surrounding his future, as it has been said that he may be off-loaded to Sampdoria in order to pave the way for Antonio Cassano to join the Bianconeri.
“For the time being I’m at Juventus, and I don’t have any intention of leaving Turin.
“But there are a number of things to consider, and we shall work these things out in due course.
“Cassano to Juventus? For the time being these are just rumours,” he concluded.
Coincidentally, Juventus and Sampdoria do battle this weekend at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin in what should be an interesting contest, in light of these latest rumours.
