Buffon puts Europe first

Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon believes his side are more likely to win the Champions League than the Scudetto this year.
The Old Lady trail Inter by six points in Serie A but have progressed to the last 16 of the Champions League in style.
“I think Juventus are better set to do well in the Champions League,” Buffon told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “We know that we aren't inferior to anyone in the competition.
“Things are different in Serie A because Inter are running away, but we won't give up.
“We have put our bad period behind us. We have to keep the pace until the spring and then we will begin the final sprint.”
Buffon then discussed some other issues, including the situation of Italian goalkeepers.
“There isn't a crisis,” he insisted. “There are lots of talented youngsters around.
“Gianluca Curci is doing very well at Siena and keep an eye on Federico Marchetti at Cagliari because he has a great record.”
In conclusion, Buffon revealed that he nearly joined Milan at the start of his career.
“I wanted to go to Milan when I was young, but my family pushed me towards Parma,” the Azzurri No 1 said.
“I would advise any youngsters to be careful with agents. I have been with Silvano Martina since I was 16 and I know that an agent can make you a fortune or cost you a fortune.”
