Ranieri: «We want always the maximum»
Even though he is supposed to be enjoying his second day of rest, Claudio Ranieri can’t help thinking of football. Hours after the match between Palermo and Milan, which brought the 14th match day to an end, the Juventus coach spoke on a phone link on the programme “Radio Anch’io Sport” on Radio Rai.
An intervention during which Ranieri stressed the point that Juventus are still in the race, especially after having climbed to the second place. «We all said that we wanted to improve last year’s placing. Our intention is to continue doing our pest, giving always the maximum. The team made great improvements and from now to the end it will not bulge an inch so as to try and be the alternative to Inter».
The coach then expressed his thoughts with regards to the protagonists of the team, often featuring Alessandro Del Piero and Sebastian Giovinco : «Del Piero is a great player, it is only right that the captain is felt in the new route taken by Juve, all his team-mates follow him. The national team? Nobody knows him better then Lippi and making him play friendly matches makes no sense. He will call him at the right moment. We believe a lot in Giovinco and we must not put too much responsibility on his shoulders. Some people said he is the new Del Piero but this means they are comparing a young newcomer with an established champion. At Juventus one must proof himself day in day out».
