Giovinco: «Ready for the next match»

«I am happy with how things worked out yesterday but you can’t live off the glory. On Wednesday we play another match and I am ready for it ».

The day after the victory over Lecce and his first goal with the Juventus first team, Sebastian Giovinco is radiant but will not sit and live off the glory. The Atomic Ant spoke of his feelings with regards to being the “man of the day” on Juventus Channel in an exclusive interview which will be aired during the programme Replay on air at 18:00hrs. Seba relives the match against Lecce, his emotions, his moves, starting from the one that led to the winning free-kick: «There was a lucky rebound, the Giacomazzi committed a foul and we were awarded the free-kick from a position which I felt was right for that sort of execution. I managed: it seems like the daily training bore fruit.»

Training beside an exceptional master of the likes of Alessandro Del piero: His advice, as Seba admitted a few times, are precious, but one must also say that Giovinco has scored such goals with the youth teams before: «Its true ‘but its one thing scoring with the youth teams at that level – he smiled – and another managing to do so in the Serie A».

The satisfaction is double, so much so, that while rejoicing Seba forgot his usual manner of celebrating: «It wasn’t that I forgot. I just felt I should celebrate like that, letting out immense joy. I hope to experience more of that sensation. I ran towards the sector with our supporters and I think I did the right thing: they were always by my side with their chants, even in the difficult moments when I played very little. I paid them back in this manner and after all I had said so before: “I will run towards the supporters with my first goal».

His goal opened the mark-sheet of a match which was not so beautiful up to that moment: «In the first half it wasn’t a nice match, but the second half started off differently and the the goal changed both our and their game. I was told to move freely and I think I managed».

Playing in his favourite role probably helped him and in fact Seba has no doubts about which role he would choose if he had the chance: «Supporting striker».

Yesterday’s match was one of contrasting emotions for the young bianconero; first the joy of scoring, then the equaliser by Cacia: «I heard people saying that when I played we only managed to obtain two draws and a defeat, and so I thought, here we go again, if we draw again in the fourt match with me in the starting line up there would be a lot of talk. Luckily Amauri scored. I was happier after his goal then after mine».

Amauri himself had encouraged him before the start of the match: «It’s nice to feel close with your team-mates. They know the period I went through, they were always by my side and I thank them for this. I am happy with my relationship with them, there is reciprocal respect with everyone.».

With the Lecce victory in the records, Seba looks to the future and the next matches against Bate and Milan: «Everyday is difficult, we cannot afford mistakes. Against Milan it will be a direct encounter and even the match against Bate is important. It is a delicate moment but we will manage to go through it».

The next matches might see him once again amongst the starters, but if this is not so, Giovinco will not be making a tragedy out of it: «Its normal. There are great champions before me and I must simply await my turn. Its alright to play less then others, for a young player this is normal. I am relaxed and try to work as hard as possible»
