New Barcelona boss Josep Guardiola is absolutely desperate to sign Juventus goal machine David Trezeguet, according to La Stampa.

Trezeguet, who had yet another prolific season in Italy, scoring 20 goals to finish second in the race for the Capocannoniere, has been strongly linked with a move to Barca in the last few days as a possible replacement for want-away forward Samuel Eto’o.

A few days ago Juventus director Jean-Claude Blanc stressed that they would not consider selling Trezeguet, despite the signing of Brazilian hitman Amauri from Palermo.

However La Stampa says that Guardiola sees Trezeguet as his dream signing, and he is prepared to bid big for the 30-year-old, who has been at Juve since 2000.

Trezeguet’s agent has hinted that the Bianconeri may be prepared to do business, but only if a massive offer was forthcoming.

"The offer will have to be very high to convince Juve to give up a centre forward of this level," Antonio Caliendo stated.

There will be plenty of time to sort out Trezeguet’s future after he was incredibly left out of France’s squad for Euro 2008.
