Record night for Del Piero
It would've been an unforgettable night for Alessandro Del Piero, regardless of the result. Equalling the legendary Gaetano Scirea for the record of games played at Juventus (552) was in itself a historical achievement. So winning at Inter Milan only made the evening even more special.
The Captain’s performance was truly sumptuous. Even a World Cup winner like Materazzi couldn't get a hold of him. His pass for Trezeguet's goal was perfect. The only thing missing was a goal; he went close twice, but for once it didn't really matter.
At the end of the match Alex couldn't hide his satisfaction, the satisfaction of someone who was enjoying a moment he'd waited two years for: «Regrets for being cut out of the title race at this point? It's no time to think about this. We played a great match today, it's a shame we didn't finish them off earlier. I missed one chance; luckily it didn't matter in the end».
