Ranieri
Ranieri counts his blessings
Wednesday 19 March, 2008
Claudio Ranieri tried not to make a drama of Juventus’ dismal Empoli stalemate. “It’s better than nothing!”
The Bianconeri barely had a shot on target in the 0-0 draw at the Stadio Castellani this evening and it must go down as a missed opportunity.
“Of course I am not satisfied, but Empoli were well organised and did not allow us to find the right gap, so they took home what they always wanted.
“Considering the way this evening went elsewhere, a point is better than nothing!”
Roma, Fiorentina and Milan all suffered shock defeats, while leaders Inter were held 1-1 away to Genoa.
“The second half of the season is always more difficult. It becomes increasingly tough to win and do well against those who don’t want to get relegated and the sides aiming for the Champions League,” continued Ranieri.
“We came to Empoli in order to win, but I cannot reproach my lads, even if we did miss a few too many final balls in.”
It was a boost for the Tuscans, who are in penultimate position in the Serie A table.
“We are satisfied with the draw,” said team manager Cappellini. “It is a point that increases our confidence ahead of the difficult games we are yet to face.”
