Elkann trusts in Ranieri

Juventus shareholder John Elkann has stressed that he has always had complete faith in Coach Claudio Ranieri.
Despite an impressive campaign, Ranieri came under attack after three games without a win prior to the Old Lady’s triumph over Genoa last weekend.
However, Elkann is keen to underline his confidence in the tactician as Juve continue to chase Champions League qualification.
“He has done an excellent job so far,” he asserted. “Our position in the League is good and it was important to return to winning ways against Genoa.
“The team have always battled and been pushed on by Ranieri, who has created a strong team identity. All the players feel this spirit from the newcomers to the old guard.
“The players will be properly prepared and will approach the remaining 11 games with the right attitude as we all want the Champions League.”
Elkann concluded by celebrating Gigi Buffon’s contract extension, which ties the Azzurri shot-stopper to the club until 2013.
“As a fan I am very happy that Buffon will be staying another year with us,” he said.
“He is the best goalkeeper in the world and it is a huge honour to have him here at Juventus.”
