«An important moment, not a delicate one»

At the end of a not very memorable week, the team have begun training again with the aim of increasing the pace again, to equal the one they had up to the match in Reggio Calabria. Today it was up to one of the veterans of the group, Gigi Buffon, to sound the charge.

Thanks to all his experience, the keeper gave a new boost to the team's ambitions: «We're living an important period, I wouldn't define it as delicate. In the last few games we've reaped very little, sometimes it was other people's fault, sometimes it was ours. But anyway, we weren't born yesterday, we've already gotten through more delicate and difficult situations in the past, so we know what we need to do in order to come out of it and what corrections we have to make. The only medicine is to keep training, and to keep having faith in what we're doing. Meetings with the Club officials? There's no need, they have the utmost trust in us».

Buffon spoke mostly about Sunday's game against the Viola: a defeat that he found hard to accept. «I would've been angry if we'd drawn, let alone after losing. Unfortunately we lacked that cynicism to make Fiorentina feel like the match was over, instead we allowed them to believe they could get back into it. And this had never happened in the past».

A mistake not to be repeated in the next matches, starting from the game at Genoa. Gigi tried to analyze the reasons for this moment and explained what needs to be done. «Certainly we are to blame also. We felt strong and we can’t afford to think this. Having come at one point's distance from Roma we should've kept playing doggedly, without losing sight of our true potential. Our weapons are the fact we're a tight unit and our determination, if these qualities subside we crash back on earth. By picking up where we left off, we can still achieve some good results, but we have to try and be careful always. The three-team fight with AC Milan and Fiorentina? We need to concentrate on ourselves and hope that the Rossoneri and the Viola lose points too, hoping they go all the way in the Cups».
