Ranieri Talk

Ranieri pleased with progress
Wednesday 26 March, 2008

Claudio Ranieri has expressed satisfaction with the way his Juventus side is coming together, but he has called for patience.

“Saturday’s game helped everyone understand who we are and we are not going to shy away from that,” he said after the 2-1 victory away to leaders Inter.

“We have some defects, but we are working to disguise those as much as possible. Essentially, as a first season that is still a work in progress, I’d say we are doing pretty well.”

The Bianconeri were demoted in the Calciopoli scandal and have only just earned promotion back into Serie A, but are already looking certain for a Champions League spot.

Recent results have given them a healthy nine-point lead over fifth-placed Milan with eight rounds to go.

“Now we have to see how our season pans out. We are already thrown into a very difficult game this Sunday against Parma, while we travel to Palermo a week later,” continued Ranieri.

“There is no such thing as an easy match, we’ll see the result and then can really say if the win over Inter has given us a boost.

“The team has grown so much since the start of the campaign and believes in its own potential. We must always give 110 per cent to bring home a result, we’re not like those other giants who can perhaps pick up points with the minimum effort.

“We must continue to work hard with perseverance.”
