Buffon still in the race for the Golden Foot

Gianluigi Buffon is still in the race to win the Golden Foot 2009, the international award which is given to a champion who is at least years old. After having been inserted into the list of 10 candidates, Gigi has qualified from the first selection and won access to the “fantastic four” in the race to win the 7th edition. The number one will be competing against Thierry Henry, Raul and Ronaldinho.
David Trezeguet was also in the list however the Franch striker was eliminated together with Beckham, Figo, Owen, Giggs and Totti.
Buffon is hence still competing with the hope of leaving his footprints on the Champions Promenade in Montecarlo. He would be the 4th bianconero to do so after Roberto Baggio, Nedved e Del Piero.
The winner will be announced on Monday 12th October in Monaco.
