Buffon: «Winning was the important thing but we did a number of important good things»
Once again Buffon showed he is the number one with a number of decisive saves which allowed the team to bring home the three points thanks to a goal scored by Chiellini. When he is complimented for his extraordinary saves, one in the dying minutes of the match, Gigi answered with a smile: «When a goalkeeper senses certain situations he must be ready in every part of the match, even at the end».
Then he got back to being serious: «We wanted the points and we got them, speaking as you would but we played good football and had various goal scoring chances. In the Champions League it is normal to concede a few opportunities but not on the 93rd minute with the opponents down to 10 men!».
The Juventus goalkeeper continued by commenting the performance against Maccabi:
«We tried out a new formation which probably gives more guarantee to the defence. With Melo and Sissoko in that position the defence benefits. Now we develop the attack better even though we had a number of goal scoring opportunities».
Buffon complimented Milan for their victory against Real Madrid: «It gives lustre to Italian football» and then referring to the double victory last season added: «Real twice a year gives great satisfaction to Italian teams».
Finally a comment about the group: «The draw at home against Bordeaux is a weight that we will be carrying with us until the end of the group stage, a burden for which the 3 points will be fundamental until the last day»
