Buffon: We Are Missing Something

Gianluigi Buffon believes that yesterday’s goalless draw against Sampdoria proves that Juventus “are missing something”.

The Bianconeri dominated possession at the Stadio Olimpico yesterday but were desperately lacking in creative options, particularly in the second half when Alessandro Del Piero was substituted.

With Juve now 12 points behind league-leaders Inter, their chances of winning the Scudetto are undoubtedly over.

The club are expected to complete the signings of Momo Sissoko and Olof Mellberg this month in a bid to strengthen the squad, but Buffon doesn’t want to comment on possible signings.

"I don't want to talk about new signings, because I don't believe we're as far away from the top as many say,” the world’s best shot-stopper explained.

"Even against Samp, we showed this. Zdenek Grygera has played well and Nicola Legrottaglie is now a first-choice starter. I am pleased with where we are at this time.

"However, games like this show that we're still missing that something extra - but we must continue to look forward."

By all accounts Juventus are still having a successful season and look odds-on to qualify for the Champions League as they sit in third position in the standings.
