Transfer Talk : Boumsong

Fulham line up Boumsong?
Tuesday 8 January, 2008

Fulham are being linked with a swoop for Juventus’ French international defender Jean-Alain Boumsong.

New Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson has strong Italian connections having spent years with Inter and is believed to be discussing a possible offer for the 28-year-old.

Boumsong made 33 appearances in the Old Lady’s Serie B promotion campaign, but he has been sidelined by injury problems and slipped down the pecking order in Turin.

The Cameroon-born giant has 22 France caps, but he is widely regarded as surplus to requirements in Claudio Ranieri’s squad.

Having played for Rangers and Newcastle the 28-year-old knows what to expect from life in Britain and may opt to quit Serie A, despite reported interest from Lazio.

Boumsong arrived at Juventus in August 2006 for around £3.3m, but he could leave for half that amount.

However, Fulham may have to outbid Greek giants Olympiacos who have reportedly asked Juve for information on the unsettled stopper’s future.
