Ex-Juve Star Tudor Retires

Ex-Juve Star Tudor Retires

Former Juventus and Croatia defender Igor Tudor has retried from football at the age of just 30 due to injury.

The giant Hajduk Split centre back was once regarded as one of Europe’s most promising young defenders back in the late 1990s, however his career has been plagued by injuries, and at the age of just 30 he has finally decided to call it a day.

Tudor began his career with Hajduk, and attracted the interest of a host of European giants, eventually earning a move to Juventus in 1998.

The Croatian showed early promise in Turin, and was a constant danger off set-pieces with his head, scoring 15 goals for Juve in 115 appearances.

However, he suffered from chronic injury problems, particularly to his ankle, which gradually slowed him down, and in 2005/06 he was loaned out to Siena.

The injuries continued and Tudor almost retired in 2007, but eventually decided to return to Hajduk, thus ending a nine-year association with Juventus.

In October 2007 he played his first game for 16 months, but his troublesome ankle injury just would not disappear, and he has now finally decided that enough is enough.

Tudor also won 55 caps for Croatia between 1997 and 2006, playing in two World Cups and a European Championships.
