Poulsen: Juve Too Good To Turn Down

Poulsen: Juve Too Good To Turn Down

Christian Poulsen has bid an emotional farewell to Sevilla but admits that the chance to join Juventus was too good to turn down.

Poulsen completed his €9.75m move to the Bianconeri on Tuesday, signing a four year contract at the Stadio Olimpico.

This ended his two year stay in Seville, where he won the Copa del Rey, Spanish Supercup, European Supercup, and of course the UEFA Cup.

"I will never forget these two years at Sevilla,” Poulsen said on www.sevillafc.es.

“For me they have been more than two years because of the amount of things that have happened, but if I was to choose one memory it would be my first UEFA Cup, which we won in Glasgow.

"The life of a footballer is very short and Juventus came with a great offer," he explained.

"I have had two great years winning titles [at Sevilla], while the city is superb and I leave many friends here. For me to leave this great club it would have to have been to go to a team with a lot of history."

Poulsen began his career at FC Copenhagen in 2000, joining Schalke two years later, before then moving on to Sevilla in 2006.

The 28-year-old is something of a controversial figure in Italy, all dating back to his infamous clash with Francesco Totti in the group game between Italy and Denmark at Euro 2004, when he ‘provoked’ the Roma star into spitting at him.
