Ranieri: I Want Tiago To Stay

Juventus boss Claudio Ranieri has described Tiago Mendes as a “great player” and hopes that he will stay at the club next season.

Tiago only signed for Juve last summer for €13m, however he has been a huge flop in Turin, and last season made just 10 Serie A starts, scoring no goals.

The 26-year-old seems almost certain to leave this summer, and a host of clubs have been sniffing about, including Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg.

However Juve coach Ranieri insists that he will be only too happy if Tiago stays where he is.

"He is a great player and if he were to remain I would be happy,” said The Tinkerman.

“I like to have the problem of abundance."

Juventus are currently at their summer training camp in Pinzolo, and last night the squad paraded to 3000 excited fans in the town’s main square.

“I’m happy to see all this enthusiasm and I hope I can repay it, starting from the Champions League preliminary rounds,” said Ranieri.

“Getting through is our first objective. We promise to try and improve on last season, and always give 100%.”
