Ranieri: «We will try with all our strength»

Fine-tuning at Stamford Bridge

The team underwent an evening fine-tuning training session at Stamford Bridge. After a warm-up, the players underwent tactical exercises to iron out the last details in view of the match against Chelsea.

Before the Juventus press conference it was the turn of Chelsea who will not be able to count on Portuguese defender Carvalho who was forced to stop due to a muscular problem. Hiddink did not hold back the compliments for Juventus and Claudio Ranieri who he called a “gentleman coach”. Hiddink declared: «I would have preferred to have more time to prepare this match but it was not possible. I don not want to look for alibis. Juventus? It is a great team but unfortunately I didn’t have the occasion of watching it neither live nor on TV»

Ranieri: «We will try with all our strength»

It is a motivated Ranieri who addresses the press conference in the stadium that will host the big match against Chelsea. Ranieri did not forget the past and when asked by English journalists to say what he has carried with him from his experience at Chelsea and what he expects from his former fans he answered: «I am hoping in a “welcome back”, since when I’m in England I realize that the people have good memories of me. After all even I have good memories of their appreciation, even in my third year when without spending money we qualified for the Champions League. Then with the arrival of Abramovich we started to practice fantasy football but we started too late in the day and the choice was limited».

Memories apart, there is now a match, or rather two to overcome: «They are matches which are 180 minutes long and in which everything can happen. We have respect for Chelsea’s strength but we can make our voice heard and we try to do so with all our strength. They are the favourites but we will not simply bow our heads».

The difference between Scolari’s Chelsea and Hiddink’s: «It is mostly – explained Ranieri – in minor things, in fact when the coach changes the players want to show what they are capable of and therefore are more determined. I saw the match they played against Aston Villa and they seem to try more vertical action then when there was Scolari. We, however are ready!» .
