Vincenzo Iaquinta: I Never Considered Leaving Juventus

The Bianconeri marksman has admitted that Poulsen’s goal was a relief after his early red card and has insisted that he was not ready to depart Turin last month.

Juventus edged out Catania 2-1 at the Stadio Massimino yesterday, as midfielder Christian Poulsen pounced on a defensive error in stoppage time to give the Old Lady a precious away win.

Claudio Ranieri’s side played for over 80 minutes with ten men as striker Vincenzo Iaquinta saw red after picking up two yellow cards in two minutes.

“That was a real pain,” newspaper La Stampa quotes the Italian international as saying.

“I did not want to watch the game at first, but then I sat in front of the TV and that goal really made my red card taste less bitter.

“After scoring my goal, I almost blacked out for a split second. I was so eager to celebrate with our fans that I earned my first yellow card.

“The supporters were the ones who encouraged me [to stay] when people were talking about a potential transfer and I want to dedicate this goal to them. I am really happy that I stayed put and I never really thought about packing my bags.”
