No Regrets Leaving Real Madrid For Juventus

No Regrets Leaving Real Madrid For Juventus - Fabio Cannavaro

14 September 2009

Juventus defender Fabio Cannavaro says he has no regrets over leaving Real Madrid during the summer, believing he can go on to achieve greater things in Italy.

The centre-back rejoined the Old Lady on a free transfer in the summer, after his deal at the Bernabeu expired. Cannavaro says he could have stayed on at the club, but preferred a new challenge in Turin.

"Real Madrid? I don't have any nostalgia or bitterness," Cannavaro told Tuttosport.

"I could have waited for the election of the president [Florentino Perez] and discuss a new deal, but as soon as Juve came along I couldn't hesitate.

"We have a great group here and we want to win and give spectacle with our champions."

Juve clash with Bordeaux tomorrow night in the Champions League and Cannavaro paid tribute to their coach, Laurent Blanc. He knows the Frenchman as they were team-mates for one season at Napoli.

"He is a great coach. He took some slack in Italy, but I think it served him for the experience," concluded the legendary defender.

Juventus welcome the Girondins at the Olimpico on Tuesday night. The game starts at 20:30 CET.
