A great deal of Juve at the Football Oscars
Juventus are protagonists on the field but also outside it. The Juventus players played the lion at the annual Football Oscars which took place in Milan.
Many were the awards won by Alessandro Del Piero, Gigi Buffon and Giorgio Chiellini. Sebastian Giovinco received his first important nomination.
Del Piero reaped the fruits of last season which saw him being an absolute protagonist but also for a career which continues giving him satisfaction. Three are the awards won by the captain: most loved player, top-scorer for 2008 and best Italian footballer. The award for best player was a close miss with ibrahimovic having the better.
For Gigi Buffon (absent due to a fever that stopped him from playing on Sunday in Rome participated by means of a telephone link) the award for best goalkeeper ha nearly become a custom. Yet another piece of satisfaction on the same day when he was given the award for nothing less then the best goalkeeper in history by the IFFHS (see article).
Who begun a new important tradition is Giorgio Chiellini who received the prize for best defender. This served as yet another confirmation of the development of the player from Livorno who is considered to be one of the greatest defenders in Europe.
Sebastian Giovinco had to postpone the joy of the first success. The first important season in the Serie A (last season with Empoli) won him a nomination as best youngster which was however won by Napoli’s Hamsik.
The evening organized by the AIC (Italian Footballers Association) saw the participation of national team coach Marcello Lippi.
Other important awards were won by referee Roberto Rosetti and by Cesare Prandelli for best coach.
