On the eve of the last match of the first round it was hard to imagine Juventus would have managed to reduce the margin from Inter. However, the margin has been reduced from four to three points. If Inter suffered a heavy defeat in Bergamo, the bianconeri in Rome faced the difficulties which had been foreseen.

Notwithstanding the draw, Ranieri;s team played a great match against Lazio, especially following Mellberg’s equalizer. As from next weekend the challenge continues and the fight for the leadership of the table promises to be an interesting one. «At the beginning we encountered some difficulty because they ran a real lot – commented the coach – but both teams tried to win on the long run. On the eve of the match I feared the three attackers scheme of Lazio and I wasn’t sure of fielding this formation. I wasn’t so sure of Mellberg on Zarate but Olof did well even in Madrid in that role and today he confirmed this. I had no doubts with regards to Ariaudo. He played really well in Coppa Italia on Wednesday and besides he ahs been training with us for the last year and therefore I knew what he is capable of. The table?
