Nedved Retirement On Hold As Juventus Prepare New Deal - Reports

The Czech midfielder could stay on, despite reports saying he is set to hang up his boots at the end of term...

Juventus midfielder Pavel Nedved could be asked to stay on at the club as directors prepare to offer him another deal.

The 'Czech Fury' is set to retire at the end of the season when his deal with the Old Lady expires. However, he could be offered a tempting deal in order to stay on and act as a mentor to the younger players coming through.

Tuttosport claims Juventus chiefs are planning to meet the player and his agent Mino Raiola soon in order to prevent the player from hanging up his boots and stay on for another season.

A deal could be offered to the player around spring as the club believes Nedved is a valuable source of experience for players like Paolo De Ceglie and Claudio Marchisio. The new deal will have clauses, though, such as pay as you play bonuses.

Nedved has been at the club since 2001, when he signed from Lazio, and the idea is to keep him for as long as possible. Nedved is likely to consider the idea. So far the midfielder has kept his retirement plans quiet.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is likely to make a return tomorrow night in Juve's Coppa Italia clash with Catania. The Bianconeri are eyeing a place in the quarter finals.
