Amauri: I Can Do Better Than Ibra

New Juventus signing Amauri is confident that he can do ever better for the club than former Bianconero Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Amauri completed his transfer to the Old Lady from Palermo last month for a big transfer fee, and he adds even more quality to a terrifying array of forwards that also includes Alessandro Del Piero, David Trezeguet, Vincenzo Iaquinta and Sebastian Giovinco.

“I’m not at all worried about that [the competition],” Amauri told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I have never been interested in personal aims.

“I have the greatest respect for Del Piero and my other teammates, but I will try and play as much as possible.”

Amauri’s style has been compared to former Juve forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who played for the club from 2004 until 2006, before he left in a hugely controversial switch to Inter Milan.

“Since I arrived at Chievo people have been comparing me with Zlatan both physically and in the way we play,” the Brazilian explained.

“He became a superstar and he did very well at Juve. I am hoping to do even better.

“We want to win everything – the Scudetto, the Champions League and maybe the Coppa Italia as well. I just want to play and prove myself at the top level.”

Amauri scored 15 times in 34 Serie A appearances last term.
