Blanc Satisfied With Transfer Activity
Juventus chief executive, Jean Claude Blanc, has given an update on the club's transfer market activity and he is pleased with the way business is going. However, he admits that a midfielder is needed in order to complete the squad.
The Bianconeri are still in the process of strengthening their squad ahead of next season’s Serie A and Champions League commitments. However, the one area they need to focus on is the midfield as they still haven’t managed to bring in some cover for the ever-ageing Pavel Nedved.
Blanc believes a midfielder is all that is missing from his side and he is working hard to get one in.
“Our transfer campaign began in January with the signings of Mellberg and Sissoko,” said Blanc.
“We want to have one top-class player for every department so that we have a strong spine. We made it three with Amauri’s arrival and now we need a midfielder to complete it.
“Pavel renewed for another year but we still need someone in the middle to ensure we have a very strong starting XI.”
The Bianconeri have eyed a number of top-class middle men over the summer but for all the hype surrounding speculation, the Old Lady still hasn’t managed to bring in the muscle.
Xabi Alonso is favourite to join the Bianconeri but if his move fails, Blanc and company will be left with a huge task before the new season gets underway.
