Andrade under the knife
Monday 14 July, 2008
Juventus defender Jorge Andrade's career is hanging by a thread after he underwent knee surgery.
The Portuguese international has barely played in the last two seasons due to various injuries and will miss all of the 2008-09 term as well.
He suffered the recurring fractured kneecap during pre-season training at Pinzolo last week.
This evening Juventus announced he had undergone surgery to reduce the fracture to his left kneecap in Lisbon.
The operation was “an ostheosynthesis using tissue taken from the hip-bone.”
A representative from the Bianconeri's medical staff was also present in the operating theatre.
It is a bitter blow for the 30-year-old, who joined Juve in 2007 after five years at Deportivo La Coruna.
Before then he had featured for Estrla Amadora and Porto.
