Gigli: We Need A Midfielder
Juventus President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli has confessed that the club need to sign a midfielder.
The Bianconeri have been working flat-out in the transfer market trying to bring a top-class midfielder to the club, and have been trying to negotiate deals for the likes of Marek Hamsik, Alberto Aquilani, Dejan Stankovic and Xabi Alonso.
However their efforts so far have yet to yield any results, and Gigli admits this is something the club are trying to put right.
“We are lacking a midfielder,” the president admitted.
“We are working on two or three names that I have seen written. The key is to buy the right men at the right time.”
Gigli also spoke about former Juventus midfielder, and current Fiorentina boss, Cesare Prandelli, who yesterday tipped the Bianconeri as one of the favourites for the Scudetto.
“I heard Prandelli on the radio while I was having breakfast and the coffee seemed sweeter,” he smiled.
“I really hope that he is right and we are a side capable of clinching the title. You never know what will happen in football and it just takes one bad day to mess things up.
“However, I feel confident because I have great respect for Prandelli, who I remember as a great player as well as being able to do big things as a Coach.”
Prandelli played for Juventus from 1979 to 1985, winning a host of honours, including the European Cup.
