Gigli Unsure Over Poulsen Arrival

Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli admits that he is not sure as to whether Sevilla’s Christian Poulsen will arrive and he has hinted at Dejan Stankovic's possible capture.

Reports in Italy have claimed that the Denmark international was on the Bianconeri’s radar but Gigli is not so sure.

Poulsen is remembered as the player who provoked Francesco Totti in Euro 2004 and he was spat on for his efforts.

“We will see what happens in around 10 days,” Gigli told Calciomercato.

“I don’t know if Poulsen will arrive but I am sure that [Jean Claude] Blanc will decide who the right player is for [Claudio] Ranieri.”

“Stankovic? Never say never in football. Just look at what happened when a certain Roma coach said he wouldn’t coach Juve only for things to change.

“I can understand the fans but things don’t always go in the way you expect.”

The Bianconeri are in the process of strengthening their side and a midfielder is top priority.

Liverpool’s Xabi Alonso was on the cards but his unwillingness to get his move rolling again seems to have left Juve with no choice but to look to alternatives.
