Juve: Gio going nowhere

Juve: Gio going nowhere

Juventus have told admirers of Sebastian Giovinco to forget about landing the youngster on loan in January.

The pint-sized sensation is struggling to get first team football with the Turin giants and a number of clubs are thought to be assessing a New Year move for the starlet.

However, the Bianconeri have today insisted that the Under-21 international will not be swapping jerseys in 2009.

“We have no plans to sell anyone in January,” noted sporting director Alessio Secco. “Giovinco is staying here with us.”

However, reports in Italy on Friday are claiming that a loan move could still take place as Claudio Ranieri has shown a reluctance in using the talent.

West Ham boss Gianfranco Zola knows all about the Juventus youth product after working with him in the Azzurrini set-up and is keen to take him to London.

Serie A middle clubs Palermo and Genoa are also known to be massive admirers of the kid who many believe will become a leading light in the Italian game.

“Sebastian is a jewel of Juventus and I think it is in nobody’s interest to waste his ability,” noted agent Claudio Pasqualin. “We are making sure that won’t happen.

“Juventus say he is untouchable? We hope that this kind of faith is transferred to the fields of play.”

Giovinco rejoined the Turin giants in the summer after spending last season on loan at Empoli. So far he’s played in six Serie A games, but started just twice under Ranieri.
