A lucky charm named Marchionni
Seven matches, seven victories. Juventus is the team of the moment. Not only in Italy, where it is temporarily heading the league table, but also on the European front where with the double-victory against Real Madrid it has shown all that it has managed to forget the two years of forced absence from European cups.
Seven matches, seven victories. Obtained by a group which is having to do without the likes of Buffon, Trezeguet and Zanetti and with Camoranesi not yet in his top form. Amongst the protagonists of the successful streak are players who knew how to rise to the occasion when called on by Ranieri. Two examples are Tiago and Marco Marchionni.
The Roman midfielder formed part of the starting line-up in all seven victories, as was the case in the matches against Cagliari and Catania : «We won eight out of nine games and drew the other. It seems that I bring luck. Joking apart, in these last few weeks I have been to play with regularly, something which I hadn’t been able to do for quite some time. Now I feel really well and I think this shows on the field», commented Marchionni exclusively for www.Juventus.com.
Marchionni’s well-being is shared by Juventus. Already qualified for the next round of the Champions League and now back in the race for the Italian championship for which it is determined to fight once again. With Genoa beaten, the next encounter will see the bianconeri meet Inter. «We are going to play the match in what seems to be the best time for us – Marco went on – The last victories, apart from moving us up the table, gave us a great boost and an awareness of our capabilities. We only have to continue along this track».
