Juventus patron Lapo Elkann has paid tribute to Alessandro Del Piero after his heroics against Real Madrid last night.

Del Piero's brace proved decisive as the Bianconeri overcame Real Madrid 2-0 at the Bernabeu.

And Elkann, who is the grandson of former Juventus owner Gianni Agnelli, has heaped praise upon the Bianconeri's inspirational skipper.

“The captain was more than a man last night - he was a superhero,” Elkann enthused on Radio Kiss Kiss.

“People have said Del Piero was the King of Spain, but I would say that he is an Italian prince.

“This achievement has made me happy and I'm delighted for the Coach and the players.

“The win in Madrid will provide morale and is an auspicious omen of an excellent year.

“The win over Real came courtesy of an excellent team performance and when you love Juventus you can only believe that the Old Lady will compete at the highest level.”
